Hello. I am in a similar situation moving from Limited to Open. Shooters on this forum are awesome for contributing. 2 things have helped me. Tape/cover the muzzle side of your dot sight. You will learn quickly to develop a " target focus" necessary for capitalizing on a dot sight advantage. Then realize the dot exaggerates sighting imperfections compared to irons. You can make an "A" shot without being so precise. Good luck! ( I know I need some, lol!)
Thanks! Great advice. I kept waiting for the dot to settle and then would squeeze off the next round. Let's keep working at it!

Actually ended up being $7 so not sure about the $10 minimum she mentioned.

Just called. Great service. It's $5 plus shipping with a $10 minimum. Worth the call as I wanted to try the 10MOA RTS2 anyways.

I somehow broke the cover in half tonight and will need a new one. Has anyone ordered just a cover from Cmore? I’ll call tomorrow to order if so.

I think he had an extra round because he was running 38SC, thus my question regarding 9mm
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProI’m curious as to how he could get an extra round with 38sc over 9mm?

@dvc4you I sure was thinking about a bigger capacity mag on that 26 round unloaded start stage last Saturday. With only 28 in the mag and long shots I wasn’t sure what would happen. No make ups made everything ok and there was opportunity for a reload in there but was still thinking about it as Aric had an extra round to play with.

I wanted to give a huge thanks to all that responded and contributed. It means a lot and is exactly the help I’m looking for. By the end of the week I’ll have my target stands and extra props and targets in order take dry fire and live fire outside. Tonight I did 100 more rounds of each load I’m developing and will test Thursday. Can’t wait for the next match. Cheers

^^^Many do but it’s far from clean.

The island/hybrid barrel is so tempting. I have KKM barrels in most of my guns and they are excellent. The new island/hybrid will be the same I would imagine.

N320 all day for me. I use it in all my 9mm minor and also .40 major and minor loads. Very very clean. It meters consistently and performs well.
Ive also heard that Cleanshot is very similar and costs less.

My gun currently has a Barsto barrel with MC comp and two popple holes in barrel. The new KKM island barrel is very appealing for when I need to do a new barrel or a new build.
My question is what are the perceived opinions/advantages/disadvantages to going that route with the island barrel versus a standard barrel?
Faster cycling, quicker to get back to zero, different balance, etc?

This is what I was thinking. Thank you for confirmation.

I am an average Limited shooter and it is the platform I am most comfortable with and have the most time on. Nothing special and not horrible is where I would rate myself (high B with some A classifications). Open is so much fun and I will be shooting it more and more. Dry fire is a daily occurrence in my household which has helped finding the dot, etc. Last Saturday I shot a 6 stage match with my 9mm Major Open gun and had a ton of fun. A few things came to mind after the match that I am pondering...
1) When I get the dot in the window I tend to shoot it like a limited gun and not nearly as fast as it is capable of
2) I shot 5 targets on one long stage and forgot to wait to see the optic. Most targets were beyond 15 feet and all were at the worst scored as Alpha Charlie. Limited instincts kick in and tend to override open shooting.
3) After the match we had a second classifier match and I shot both the open and limited guns. On only one stage did I score higher with the open gun.
In summary I want to go faster and blaze it down but don't feel confident in that yet. How much of my limited background should I stick to and how much of the spray and pray side should I embrace?

I have the large Shooters Connection bag and fill it very full. Then I use a cart which has way too short of a handle and the cart holds the bag, cooler, umbrella, mini chair, ammo cans, and way more stuff that I may or may not need. Saturday it was mix of rain, snow, sleet, and maybe even some hail mixed in and things are all exposed so they get wet. The upright cart bags that double as a seat are what I am looking at. Most match days I will realize 8 hours later I never sat down at all. The DAA bag/cart has a rain cover too and more space than I would need or at least at the beginning that would be the case.

Are most starting with the same powder charge when they switch from 124 to 115 and then chrono and adjust from there? I will order 1k to try. Who isn't always looking for the next level/edge when shooting?
-
If anyone is on the fence about one of these don't be. It has remained flawless and continues to make me look good. The black one is my main gun and it just melts into my hand when I hold it. Shot it last Saturday in a match in freezing conditions and it was perfect.

Excellent. I do have access to a good ultrasonic cleaner at work and I’ll just do that method that you have shown in your picture. Thanks again!

Thanks! Is your barrel/comp pinned and welded? Just making sure the solvent won’t hurt any of that.
I have the Lucas solvent already

I have some build up from running coated bullets. Have since switched to JHP but would like to clean my JP comp. Any suggestions? It’s a stainless 14.5” barrel in black matte finish with a pinned and welded comp.
If there is another thread on this please let me know. I searched back several pages and didn’t see any but didn’t look further.

I saw you with this yesterday. I’m interested in getting something like that. I’m getting tired of the cart.

My Dan Wesson PM9 guns always ran great. Lots of gun for the money.
