  1. I've shot a few of the GADPA matches this year. Its fun and different and the scoring really isn't as complicated as it sounds. I do like how they did the min / maj scoring so you can shoot limited minor and still be very competitive.
  2. I'm local to the area (I live in McDonough). McDonough will be nicer but about 30-45 min away and more expensive. Conyers is cheaper and closer but can be shady in spots.
  3. Very happy with my Caldwell. Got the whole premium kit from midway on sale over Christmas for like $99. The app is very handy as well!
  4. I'm using custom molded plugs and the $50 electronic peltors everyone wears. Works great shooting open and to be perfectly honest I almost turn the electronic muffs off when I'm on deck. Doubling up on ear pro not only helps keep the ears safe, it helps me reduce audial distractions.
  5. I have a set done by prem ear at a major match about two years ago. For me they work great with everything except open or rifle shooters indoors. For that I wear muffs over my plugs.
  6. I guess I'm the oddball here. I'm running xtreme 124gr heavy plate RN with good results
  7. Every case rupture I've ever had or seen in person has been win brass. I personally just don't trust it.
  8. I'm running range brass that I buy in bulk and inspect myself. I don't load stepped cases (fm,imt, etc) or win, cbc, Tula. I'll load those minor.
  9. I have about 1k rounds of 9maj through my CK hardcore, absolutely loving it with a grand total of zero malfunctions so far. *knocks on wood.
  10. Who keeps a small tool kit in your range bag with tools and spare parts? I'm currently using one of those flat nut & bolt organizers to store a few Allen wrenches, spare small parts / springs / cmore batteries. What is everyone using?
  11. I'm pretty happy with my daa racer.
  12. My hardcore open has ran like an animal since day 1. Flat and trouble free!
  13. I'm running a 9maj CK with cheely mount. Zero issues!
  14. That's the exact setup I bought when I first got into reloading (minus the drum, that's a new addition) and I'm still using it 30k rounds later. For what it is I don't think there's a better deal out there. I'm outgrowing it these days and will be moving into a 650 very soon, but my LCT will have its own corner for load development.
  15. Just a word on how accurate my auto drum has been for me so far *knocks on wood. Took the chrono out today, max spread of a 10 shot string was 34fps with my 9maj loads.
  16. I'm using a full set of Lee carbide dies for 9maj and have been very very happy with them. I am not seating and crimping with the seating die, using two stations for that. As others have said you NEED a chrono with 9maj and for sure start low and work up watching for pressure signs with the brass / primers. According to what I've seen I have a bit of a fast barrel for my load. 124gr xtreme HPCB 7.9gr HS-6 Fed sp primers Mixed brass 1.160" ~1400fps
  17. ^ never herd of 147 9maj either. Light springs are a necessary evil on an open gun for most shooters from what I've seen. I'm personally running an 8lb spring with 170pf 9maj.
  18. Last I checked unless they've since released the stats, when I emailed zev they claimed their barrels were proprietary twist. I.e. They wouldn't say what it was. I'm currently running S3F solutions barrels in my IDPA Glocks. They're for sure 1/10 twist 416r stainless button rifled barrels. Very high quality and excellent accuracy!

Outstanding job on grip. Is it stippled or applied grit of some sort? All stippled by hand. (Not by me, I sent it out)
  20. I do really like that I can plug it into my phone and use that to automatically save the data. That feature kinda sold it for me. Plus at $99 for the whole kit it was hard to say no.
  21. Midway is running what seems to be a great deal on the premium kit with all of the bells and whistles. Anyone have any experience with these? Looks like a great setup if it works as advertised for the price.
  22. The only thing I've discovered when trying to save money within the shooting sports, is that you'll wind up spending it on something else.
  23. Before I got into shooting competitively, I was pretty heavy into drag racing growing up. The zen mindset is almost identical despite being two very different sports. From the time I strapped into the car (in the hole) to rolling through the water box and doing the burnout (on deck), staging the lights (LAMR), cutting a good light (reacting to the start of the buzzer instead of the tail), hitting my shift points on the pass while trying to keep the car straight (shooting the stage / hitting reloads at the right time / accuracy and efficiency in movement) and pulling the chutes (unload and show clear). The zen mindset shows to be identical, everything outside of the task at hand shuts down and everything subconsciously happens like clockwork when everything works like it's supposed to.
