  1. anyone?, they look interesting and like they would work. http://3ttactics.com/index_files/page0005.htm
  2. Roger that, well said. I have to say my loyalty is with Remington for some of the same reasons. I have just always shot a Remmy and I know them like the back of my hand. And as long as I take care of her, she takes care of me. That might be more maintenance than others but i enjoy sitting and watchin a show and cleanin and inspecting my guns, call me crazy.
  3. No video of the actual catastrophe. Just a short vid of the aftermath. It was *supposed* to be a picture, but the wrong button got hit on the camera. Oops... It was really hillarious. We had a plastic trashcan at the start box for hulls. I put my 1100 in it before I shot saying, "finally, a gunrack befitting the 1100." Apparently that didn't help my Karma any. Frickin hilarious, you have to admit us 1100 shooters have a sense of humor at least. Sincerly, Guy to broke to buy a bennelli, praying his 1100 works since he got such a great deal on it (read free)
  4. When in doubt, KISS Keep It Simple Stupid No I am not calling anyone stupid, its just the cliche'. Anyways I have to agree with the other guys, More divisions separates it even further. Original heavy metal as it was designed, tac scope, tac iron, and open. Wether irons was its own division or not I think is a matter of opinion again. I shoot irons, I missed this years due to relocation and new job. I like that the irons portion is scored seperate giving us irons shooters credit where credit is due for points but we do shoot the same shotty and handgun as the rest of tac division. Unless it is easier on you guys to score us seperately. As for prize table, I dunno, 2006 I think i was close to top 5 irons or right in there but 20-21st overall in tactical. Hard to say if it would have gotten me a better prize or not. Don't really shoot it for the prizes though, thats just a perk if ya do well. I just like shooting irons and being able to beat out some optics shooters . My 2 cents......
  5. See the following for list of needed parts to keep on hand   a fellow 1100 shooter
  6. Joe I would first like to say thanks for sharing all your trigger knowledge with us. I am not quite ready, mostly due to lack of time and tools, to attempt this one but it is peaking my interest. That being said I have done the .25 job and a LWD 3.5 connector. I keep reading about changing out strikers, striker springs, and trigger springs. What does each of these do to the trigger pull/action. My guess would be lighter striker spring would lighten the trigger but I believe from what I have read to also get a heavier trigger spring, the 6lb wolf I believe (helps the reset?). Just confirming and asking to see what this changes.
  7. Sounds great. What are the average max distances for carbine, bolt gun, and pistol. I think I read 500 for carbine. How far for the bolt and pistol. I will be the carbine guy but all my competitive shooting is done with irons. That being said what kind of power factor scope should I be looking at to get. would a 4x be enough or should I upgrade? I have thought about getting a scope anyways for some varmit shooting so not against getting a higher power if it is worth it and rugged enough for the match. Would definitely want some stadia lines maybe something built for the round with built in bullet drop, im not much of a scope guy. My experience with scopes goes as far as my hunting ones.
  8. Thanks John, I will probably PM ya with more questions later but thanks for the detailed response. I guess I would have to wait till it gets closer to find out round counts etc. Just wondering how many pistol mags I would need etc. I'll find a way to hold them all. You said 4 guns. One carbine, one bolt gun, each guy with a pistol. That the 4? I know I thought I read you could also have a seperate carbine for the gulley stage. So only 3 stages? So the pack is caryying extra ammo, range finder, binocs etc. Is it Virginia count or Comstock (using that as a relative term I know its not USPSA) I'm sure I will have more to come but thanks again.
  9. So I heard this years got cancelled. Something about range construction. I want to know more. It looks like a blast but it sounds like there is special gear needed to play the game. Would like to hear from anyone who has had a hand in planning it or anyone that has shot it. I hear there is some high round count stages. Need some MOLE gear or what. Packs? I wanted to shoot it earlier but I don't shoot a bolt gun. New friend is a Semper Fi sniper and he is up for it. Please discuss and let me know. It sounds like a good time. For those who don't know about it.... http://www.dlsports.com/npage7a.html
  10. Nuff said, JP all the way, the fitted one, not the drop in.
  11. Funny you would describe your setup "like shooting an AR with irons". I just got my mill up and running this summer and here's my first project for me and few friends: The rear use the normal A1 windage adjustment, and the front has a standard A2 elevation adjustment. First time out to sight them in, I shot a 2" group of 5 slugs @ 50 yds. I used them at our local club's last 3-gun and think I'll like this setup. The rear mounts using the standard Remington screw pattern ( like on the new tactical models) and the front screws into where the standard bead mounts. The photos are my CM110, and I've made some for friends 11-87P with rifle sights and 11-87 SP with a standard rib. The front post is an XS tritium ( our club recently had a night 3-gun match), the rear is the XS aperture with the large ghost ring/small aperture combo. I think they help me because I have a bad habit of not getting my cheek all the way down to use the normal bead/rib properly. I'm going to swap the front tritium post for a fiber optic before the next match at our club. Nice job, I let these guys do mine, worked out great, the rear sits back far enough that with both eyes open all you see is front sight and just close an eye for long slug shots. http://www.yost-bonitz.com/products/shotgun_sights/
  12. Wilderness and 3 gun gear make some great ones.
  13. so if it breaks then Ill need a whole new light then, lol.......At least it wont burn out, just gotta make sure I dont muzzle punch anyone with it and ill be good to go. Rant mode on: (BTW that was a joke in case there are any attorneys or anti LE/government or overall conspiracy theory people that think LE's abuse there power, a joke nothing more) Rant mode off:
  14. Well I haven't shot mine on my AR cause my surefire is on it but I have about 5,000 through my G21 with the TLR-1 on it and at least 1,000 of those are while the light was on, low light or no light shooting. No problems as of yet, have been very impressed. no new bulbs or even batteries for that matter. I took a chance since I hated the M3 so much but it resembled the m200 so much I thought I would give it a try and have not been let down. That being said my surefire has performed like a charm as well. Have always praised surefire.
  15. After teaching 100's of LE on the 870 I can tell yeah they will lock up if ur pulling back as ya shoot. Probably ties with short stroking on the most common malfunction. All rearward pull should be with the hand on the pistol grip. Weak hand only cycles slide, stabilizes, and helps with the swing. The carrier will cause you some fits on reloads but I believe you can put a easy loader on it which should help. Good luck, 870 has been a combat shotgun in LE work for decades and it hasn't failed us yet.
  16. Been doing lots of searching and can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. I am looking to go with Dawson front and rear sights. I like fixed sights so I was looking at Dawson fixed rear with dawson fiber optic front .105 width x .205 height. Question being which kind of rear: the target wide notch .125 or target notch .115 . Which one and why, thoughts....... I'm leaning towards wide notch to pick up the sight better/quicker but will I then sacrafice accuracy? Also which size FO tube to put in that front, I ask cause I like green over red and want to swap the colors. And discuss........
  17. Have the TLR-1 and love it. Had the old M3, the plastic one, went through 3 of those on the job, hated it. Like the TLR alot and is comparable so far with the surrfire. I have both on work guns and no problems with either. I have found the streamlight less expensive so that being said if I ever need another one, doubt I will, but I would buy another TLR.
  18. Been doing lots of searching and can't quite find the answer I'm looking for, this topic seems the closest. I am looking to go with Dawson front and rear sights. I like fixed sights so I was looking at Dawson fixed rear with dawson fiber optic front .105 width x .205 height. Question being which kind of rear the target wide notch or target .115 notch. Also which size FO tube to put in that front, I ask cause I like green over red and want to swap the colors. And discuss........
  19. Any true tactical sights are going to be tritium. You won't find any LEO worth his weight without them. The fact is you need to see your sights day and night and tritium is the only way to go. I don't know if the heinie your talking about are tritium or not but if so, there ya go. My work gun that I shoot sometimes for competition has Tru Glo TFO's. tritium and fiber optic. I like'em. Front sight is a tad wide but it works great for work, tactical first. My 2 cents
  20. Biggest problem is standard round plastic handguard. There are several rail manufactuers out there for the standard handguards and they work, mounted through the holes at 12 and 6. but to get a 10:30 mount, dont really know how you are gonna get that. run a seperate angled rail off of the other one. you could mount the light off of the front sight but that is more to the 9 .
  21. Ok, I'll bite, what is the diff b/w a Wylde chamber and a regular .223?
  22. Id go with the 45's. you really shouldnt need more than that. I have heard issues with the 90 rnd'er and most stages if more that 45 rds have movement where you could to a reload if needed. My 2 cents.
  23. I soooooo want to be there. Its killing me. New job and no time off. If there is a next year I am definitely there along with any of the other oregon and washington 3 gun matches. I'm so close now just no time off yet.
  24. ah another match bites the dust, my local club cancelled as well for the nationals in missoula. We shoot in Big Fork, MT bout 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Missoula. Most of the guys running my local club are helpin set up, etc. Sigh.....I know it is worth it but I missed my last months match due to work and then this once cancelled, Well at least there are 2 next month. For anyone going to nationals, enjoy and make sure to take in the sites, its beautiful up here in the MT.
  25. AGREED!!!!!! I have to say Eric is definitely a rare one these days. I made an order with him about 6 months ago and in passing just said that I needed to order some more glue for the seams, LE guns, cause my other bottle had dried up. He noticed that I had ordered that bottle about 6 months prior and told me it should have lasted longer and gave me a free bottle. Talk about above and beyond. Eric is the man, nuff said.
