  1. Do you get 29 reloadable for a 170 in 9mm?
  2. Let the MDs spend their valuable time on the stages. If sponsors want to donate stuff, give that stuff to the ROs and to those who set up and tear down the match.
  3. >>At this match there are no classes. It's a shooting CONTEST. We want to see how well you SHOOT, not manage a computed ranking. Just one guy's idea. Keep it coming....<< If the intent is a "shooting CONTEST," then do it for $75 and forget the prize table entirely.
  4. thanks to all responses so far. I emailed Dawson Precision and they informed me in no uncertain terms that the SNL basepad is not intended for 170 mags.
  5. No divisions, big prize table with fourteen guns, prize table in order of finish and $200 entry fee. Might be a little difficult to attract D, C, B or A shooters.
  6. Thanks. Does anyone know how much more mag length is added with a Dawson +2 over a Dawson +1?
  7. Thanks. Is the SNL basepad OK for 9MM tubes? The Dawson website only mentions 40Cal.
  8. Been through all the posts I can find and read the manufacturers' websites and my head hurts. So I thought I would ask a few questions here to see if I can get my head to outright explode. I have a couple of 168MM, one 158MM, several 138MM and one 130MM SV tubes I use in 9MM major. Various and largely unplanned collection of Dawson +1 basepads, Arredondo basepads that are 20mm high and add capacity, several types of followers included six month old Grams, and a bunch of springs including 13 coil grams and a couple non grams 13 coilers. I would like a couple of 28/29 big sticks. 28 go in easily with Dawson +1 basepads, and grams guts or with unknown 13 coil spring with a purple follower. Latter set up will accept a 29th round but it is really stuck in. These set ups measures a hair under 170MM. Would a different basepad give me the elusive reloadable 29th round? Which one should I try? The grams followers and 13 coil grams spring set up sets the follower very low in the tube. Is this proper? If not, is there a spring adjustment to make? Is an 11 coil spring best for 138MM tubes? Thanks for any answers.
  9. You will be in for around $3500 at the cheapest to "try" Open with a used pistol, used mags, holster set up, and reloading machine. I would go 9MM major which will cost you about 13 cents a round. If you decide Open is not for you, you will get $2500 or so back out. If your tryout leaves you wanting to make shooting USPSA Open a big part of your life, you should get a top end pistol ($5000) made for you. You can change to 38Super(comp) or stick with 9MM major. With the latter, your shooting will be cheaper but your smith choices will be more limited. You will also need a Dillon 650 or 1050 if you didn't go that way out of the box. I did the above and could not be happier. The high end pistol is worth every penny and makes moving into the higher reaches of achievement easier. Over the pistol's life, I figure it costs $1000-1500 a year. Unfortunately, no smith I know takes payments that way.
  10. I went through the same thing. Correcting for the front sight made the dot worse. Correcting for distance made the dot perfect and, of course, made downrange much clearer.
  11. I am inquiring about the once fired 9mm brass of this stuff. http://www.precisionammo.com/ "Non Toxic Frangible"
  12. Anyone used Precision Ammunition once fired 9mm brass? Any good?

  14. Be better to find one cranking out rounds on a 1050.
  15. Bad grip Every new to IPSC shooter I see has a lousy grip

  17. USPSA now has a FTDR rule. Whoopee.
  18. How do you know that the current firm has not done what it is supposed to? That question sounds aggressive --- but isn't meant that way, I'm genuinely curious...... Because the USPSA by laws state that all ballots are to mailed first class BY AUGUST FIRST. And, obviously, the deadline was not met.
  19. >>A key requirement of the USPSA election is that it be conducted by an independent CPA firm.<< A key requirement should be hiring a CPA firm that does what it is supposed to. The current one has not.
