  1. My Tripp Cobras have worked flawlessly with my Dan Wesson PM9 and 124 round nose or 125 hollow point jacketed bullets. Haven't tried truncated cones.
  2. I think reducing the recoil spring should throw brass farther. What caliber are you shooting? It sounds like a .40, in which case that spring may be a little light. If it's a 9mm, most people are using a lighter spring. But it sounds like your loads are hotter than normal if it's throwing brass that far.
  3. Ben Stoeger also has them. Surprised that neither CZC or CGW list them.
  4. Received the holster for my Shadow 2. Tried it in dry fire; a lot stiffer; no wobble on the draw. My average draw time was measurably reduced by 0.1 - 0.2 seconds. I ordered another for my Stock 2. So far, so good. Still need to try it under match conditions.
  5. I just weighed my SP01 Shadow and my Accu-Shadow. With an empty stock magazine and stock grips, they weighed 41 and 42 ounces respectively. I assume if I go to extended magazine base pads (which everyone seems to be doing for Carry Optics) and Hennings grips, those will go up a little. Does milling the slide and adding a red dot increase or decrease the overall weight?
  6. Also wondering about this. As far as I know, the Shadow 2 was the first time CZ included the buffers with the gun. I assumed they thought it was an issue, so I left the thick buffer (which came in the gun) in it. I didn't want to do a lot of shooting without the buffer until I knew it was safe. Anyone with ties to CZ have input to this?
  7. Thinking of converting an Accu-Shadow to Carry Optics and using a Vortex Razor that I already have. Has anyone tried that and does it make the weight?
  8. Professor Atlas' tutorial on polishing is great. I didn't do it on my Shadow 2 yet because I didn't think it needed it. I may do it for grins when I have some time on my hands. However, I did it on a Shadow that already had a professional trigger job, and it still made a noticeable difference.
  9. You probably don't need a lot of parts to get an amazing trigger. Try an extended firing pin, a 10# or 11# recoil spring, an 11-12# hammer spring, and a reduced power trigger return spring. You can also add a floating trigger pin. Try these and you may decide you don't need anything else.

    Henning Grips

I put a pair on my Stock 2. The original Stock 2 grips were a little too round for me. The Hennings brought the grips down to where I like it. The texture is a bonus. The grips for the Stock 2 have the non-textured area at the top. I wasn't sure if I would miss the texture there, but I don't. I'll probably get a pair for my Shadow 2 eventually and I'll probably get the non-textured top.
  11. Yeah, I love mine too. And, for about $70, you can make it really sweet. Put in an extended firing pin, an 11.5# hammer spring, a 10# or 11# recoil spring, a reduced power trigger return spring, and a floating trigger pin, and you be amazed at the trigger.
  12. I'm glad CZ is taking care of it. Of course, it shouldn't have happened to begin with. I had a similar issue with another brand a few years ago. I had the sights bottomed out and it was shooting a foot high. They also took care of it, but, again, it shouldn't have happened to begin with.
  13. Even if you're able to drift the sight, you still have a serious elevation problem. What is the height of your front sight from the top of the slide to the top of the rear of the metal post. Mine measures right at 1/4". If yours is much shorter than that, it would indicate CZ put the wrong sight on. If it measures around 1/4", have someone else try it to see if they get the same results. By the way, my sights were a bear to drift; others didn't have an issue. So, the fit of the rear sight is probably gun specific.

    Shadow 2 Grips

The benos15 code worked for a 15% discount. Still pretty expensive, but it helps.

NWfront, Can you publish the code here?

    Shadow 2 Grips

In the past there have been discount codes for Henning grips for this forum. Does anyone know of a current discount code.
  17. Agree, go to the 11.5# hammer spring. You may even be able to go lighter. You could try 9# and see if it's reliable. Also change out the trigger pin to the solid type from CGW. By "lighter return spring" I assume you mean trigger return spring. If not, change that out too. Then dry fire at home to get used to pulling the trigger without moving the gun. I think Rob Leatham and Ben Stoeger would agree on that last piece of advice.
  18. The two lock screws are a friction fit. So, unless you had them so tight that they formed dimples, you'll have to zero it. You wouldn't want that because, if you had to move your sight to get it adjusted, you wouldn't want it slipping back into the old position.
  19. Thanks. It worked and I placed an order. Now I wait to see if they're as good as everyone says they are. I actually ordered for a Shadow 2; hope they have the dimensions on that one nailed.

    Shadow 2

I also installed the 11.5# hammer spring (use Federal or Winchester primers), reduced power trigger return spring, solid trigger pin, extended firing pin with reduced power spring, and 11# recoil spring (may be able to go to 10#). I didn't require any polishing and still had a very smooth and crisp trigger. You may get lucky too.
  21. My concern with too many guns is that I'm getting old and will never get to use them all. I'm afraid that, if I die, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.
  22. Looks like the mushrooming is mostly on the bottom lip, like it's hitting the magazine catch. Do you insert your magazines pretty hard?
  23. It would be a tough call. I'd probably choose the Atlas, which is a single stack. I may be biased because the single stack fits my hand better. But I also like the fact that it has no fancy bells or whistles and is just built to be smooth, strong, and accurate. I think there's more to go right and less to go wrong. That being said, all of these guns have performed very well for me; maybe I've just been lucky because I do hear horror stories about custom guns. The Akai has the bells and whistles that the Atlas doesn't. So I worry a little more about something going wrong. However, that hasn't been a problem so far, and it handles recoil very nicely. The wait for the Akai was a lot longer than for the Atlas. The DVC and Brazos were off the shelf ready of course.
  24. I have a number of 1911/2011's, including a DVC, an Akai, an Atlas, and a Brazos Edge. They all run good and I like them all for their individual characteristics. But the Brazos Edge is the best bang for the buck. You wouldn't be disappointed if you got one.
