  1. I really don’t know how they could possibly improve upon the previous version...I am fairly new to the DAA stuff as I am primarily set up for 3-gun and they don’t have a heavy market share in the 3-gun world. But the stuff I have from DAA is damn near perfect engineering. Being an engineer it is the bane of my existence to buy something and immediately question “why didn’t they design it like this”...I don’t do that with everything I currently have from DAA. I would bet that whatever they changed from the Alpha-X to the Alpha-Xi is very minimal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Are you saying the Alpha-Xi pouches are going to make the Alpha-X pouches seem like garbage? That would be a pretty big advancement as the Alpha-X pouches were pretty awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Likewise. Although I really would like to try the Nikes, as a veteran, I don’t want to risk the look and image that comes along with giving them a try. My Solomons will do just fine for me...even if I have to pay twice the price for them, my reputation and image will remain intact. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Has anyone else seen that the DAA Alpha-X mag pouches are being replaced with an “Alpha-Xi” version to be released in June. Now I know why nobody has any of the Alpha-X pouches in stock. I have been trying to get my Czechmate setup completed and have been really frustrated that I can’t find the Alpha-X pouches....Now I am pleased that I will be able get the latest and greatest version. Anyone have any idea what the new one will bring that the previous version lacked? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Exactly...guns are always the cheap part of competition shooting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Now that is a write up and enough where people can make some sort of educated opinion. I sincerely appreciate your write-up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I wonder why the engineers that design the guns put them in the packaging of every Shadow 2. Maybe they do it for job security or maybe the things have an actual purpose the engineers think is important....my guess is that it would save CZ a bit of money to NOT include them when the guns are shipped...so if they were garbage causing unnecessary problems, they would not include them. I have used them for thousands of rounds through my S2 and have had zero issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. There is a great review of this product on the Safariland website. Definitely worth taking a look at... https://www.safariland.com/products/holsters-and-gear/holsters/model-015-open-top-competition-holster-model_015.html#start=1 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Being that they are dummy mags, and look like they are solid plastic, you could likely just drill a hole in the bottom and and glue in some lead shot or fishing sinkers that would increase the weight equivalent to your loaded mag weight. My guess is that they did not consider weight much because mags are dropped without being empty and they wanted to compromise between the empty weight and full weight. 10. I have been eyeballing the CZ but have yet to put my hands on one. If their Precision is anything like their pistols, they could be a real competitor. https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-457-varmint-precision-chassis/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I am curious how this will work as I just bought an Alpha-x for my Czechmate. Was really eyeballing the safariland because I love their gear for 3-gun but could not wait any longer to get the Czechmate geared up. If it is a huge benefit, I can certainly see getting the Safariland if it is a huge benefit over the tried-and-true Alpha-x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Don’t curse me like that. Hahaha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I agree. My girlfriend is eyeing one but she wants a new pistol in the near future. I am leaning towards the S2 orange but really wanted to get her the DWX. It would really be nice if there was a decent review of someone that actually shot one so people could determine if it is really worth all the hype. I would say that if I don’t hear anything about a release timeframe or get any info that make me want to hold off the purchase I will just go with the S2 orange. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. It looks like rust to me. I don’t know what alloy of stainless Tanfoglio uses in their frames but if it has a higher than normal carbon content it is going to rust easier than low content stainless. If a magnet will stick to the frame it has carbon in it and it will rust if it is not protected. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Freedom and Liberty ARE really awesome:-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I can’t help you with that decision. Which is better...the SP-01 or the Shadow 2? I won’t engage that discussion because I will get a verbal beatdown in short order. Haha. There is a lot of opinions in both directions there... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. When I got my S2 back in 2017 I switched from a Glock to the S2 for 3 gun. Because there were no restrictions on changing it to SAO, I did so. I have love the S2 from the day I got it. The S2 blue is just an S2 with a SAO trigger so, unless I am mistaken, It is as accurate as any DA S2 after the first shot. This being said, if money were no object, I would definitely go with the S2 orange. They are factory hand fitted, which I would think is a great benefit. It is not a worked over S2 off the shelf and then turned into an S2 orange...it began its life by becoming an S2 orange on the armorers bench. As far as the barrel bushing goes...I can’t speak to that because I have never shot an CZ customs Accushadow2 or the CZ factory built S2 orange....but I would certainly believe the 1911 style bushing creates a much better fit than the factory slide bushing. If you look at the price of an S2 orange vs an S2 blue...the value is certainly there to spend the extra money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Although I have no personal experience with this subject I do have experience in the theory. When shooting a target with open sights at 500 yards, you aim at the center of the target...not the 10...or in USPSA the A-zone. Your eyes and brain know where the center of the center is without being able to definitively point at the center with your sights. Working the equipment like this is in the psychology of shooting. I very much appreciate your response because it is a best of all worlds situation. You get a big dot to fight the sun and it forces you psychologically to trust your own god given centering instinct....you just have to train with it. In my case I have VERY little time behind a red dot so I have no customs to break. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have not purchased anything from Double Alpha yet. I went to the “rig builder” and a lot of the stuff I want is out of stock? Dows anyone know if their stuff is made in the USA or is it made in China? I am only asking to get an idea when they might be getting their stuff back in stock. If in the USA then hopefully it will be fast. If it is mostly made in China then the corona virus import restrictions will likely last for a long time. I went to a whole new platform and need some new quality gear and am trying to judge if I should hold out for DAA stuff or settle for some other brand that has what I need in stock. In short...is DAA stuff made in China or not? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. That is what I was getting at:-) expand the diameter of the bushing hole in the slide by warming it up and shrink the busing by freezing it. Then install....I think it would be counter productive to freeze both the slide and the bushing. All I did was freeze the bushing and did nothing to the slide and it worked like a champ...but work quickly to line up the pin channel or you will have to drill it or knock it out and start over. 21. I replace a lot of bushings/bearings on military jets. When I want to “shrink” a bushing for an interference fit there are three methods. Use liquid nitrogen, dry ice with liquid acetone, and dry ice with isopropyl alcohol. Suspend bushings from a wire into whatever solution you choose for about 20-30 minutes and install while wearing a pair of gloves. The nitrogen method is probably not accessible to most people but everyone can get dry ice and isopropyl alcohol. Put enough liquid in a metal container (I use a cheap stainless thermos). Do not put the lid on the thermos for obvious reasons (big explosion from the gas expansion). All this being said, I did not need to do all of this when I replaced my barrel bushing on my Shadow2. It was a snug fit but not so bad that I need to freeze the bushing to -109F degrees. If I had a really really tight fit, or was fighting with it a lot, I might use the above mentioned method. As for putting the frame in the freezer, I am not sure what the point to that would be. It seems to me that if you shrink the frame the bushing hole would also be smaller, thereby defeating the purpose...but if someone could explain that to me, I would appreciate it. I am never too old to learn a new trick:-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
