  1. If you haven't found someone to mill your slide, we can do it at Primary Machine.
  2. It probably has more to do with the rail being an entire new set up/op. Which is considerably more time consuming than the actual machine time.
  3. At the end of the day it comes down to good heat treating. Gotta find that perfect balance point between too soft and too hard/brittle. Some manufacturers seem to have that science down better than others. You guys are talking about 1911/2011 slides, but Glocks for example, are heat treated to essentially perfection. (Lol, Glock...Perfection...) Anyway, they aren't soft slides by any means, yet even with extreme lightening I've seen Glock slides go well beyond the 50k+ rounds mark with no signs of cracking.
  4. Yep, not trying to start an argument, but we want to understand why you have a different understanding versus most of us. Can you explain what has informed your understanding on this issue? You say the ATF is clear on the issue. Is this based on discussions with the ATF, some other documentation, etc.? Yes. Before we were licensed, we wanted to know if we could do slide work and refinishing, etc on non serialized parts. We spoke with two seperate ATF branches which were both clear in that if you're making money working on or modifying firearm parts whether they are serialized parts or not - you are a gunsmith. And as a gunsmith you are required to be licensed.
  5. Like I said, the ATF is clear on it. Not trying to argue with anyone lol.
  6. The ATF is pretty clear in that if you make money gunsmithing, whether it be on serialized or non serialized parts - you are a gunsmith by definition and need to be licensed. Sure, people like to play out the loopholes like they only do it part time, etc. It's a side hobby until the ATF decides it isn't. They aren't exactly a common sense group of folks. Everyone is free to do as they wish. This is American where you're still free to do as you please. (So far anyway.) But doing any sort of gunsmithing without a license is definitely not something I'd personally play around with.
  7. Sorry, no FFL which is why I generally don't do frames unless the person is local and they can be there while I do the work. The slide you can ship and I can cut on it no problem. I don't do coatings yet so the work will be returned in the white. Thanks for your interest Be careful, ATF says you need to be licensed to do gunsmithing work, regardless of it being on actual serialized parts or not.
  8. Coco, PM me. Your inbox must be full or something as it won't let me PM you.
  9. You'd have to take a considerable amount of meat away from a Glock slide to compromise integrity. Much more than you'd see on the average slide cut. We have many customers running this slide cut well over the 10k round mark and no issues for example:
  10. If polishing removes the crisp break, you've rounded off a corner/edge somewhere along the way. Good, sharp edges is where your nice break comes from. A good polish job shouldn't affect that.
  11. RMR's fail as often as the rest of the popular reflex dots out there do. I still can't figure out the extreme popularity of RMR's.
  12. Yeah...I'll believe that when they're in the 20k+ round area and none are breaking...

  14. Bump to next page. STI 2011 frame, slide, and barrel that we have dumped an unimaginable amount of time into for a customer! - Milled for Fastfire III - Milled the 8 angled cuts on the frame - Milled the 4 angled vents on the slide in front - Milled rear cocking serrations - Engraved slide by rear serrations, on top of slide and barrel, and lastly, set the slide up in a fourth axis to engrave the beveled portion (Slide and frame are heavily oiled because they are bare steel.) Pretty damn bad ass (if you're into this kinda stuff).
  15. Couldn't seem to find one to post this in: STI 2011 frame, slide, and barrel that we have dumped an unimaginable amount of time into for a customer! - Milled for Fastfire III - Milled the 8 angled cuts on the frame - Milled the 4 angled vents on the slide in front - Milled rear cocking serrations - Engraved slide by rear serrations, on top of slide and barrel, and lastly, set the slide up in a fourth axis to engrave the beveled portion (Slide and frame are heavily oiled because they are bare steel.) 16. So much for the trigger argument...https://youtu.be/ftOygA4FiRQ As the other use said...much more goes into what most of us call a good trigger than a short reset. Honestly, that reset still looked longer than a Shadow reset.Bottom line is even most Tanfo guys will strait up admit that tuned Tanfo triggers aren't as good as a tuned CZ trigger. It is what it is.
  17. Jeez, why are the Tanfo guys so bent out of shape about this? I mean, it isn't like the entire Tanfoglio line is a CZ clone or anything in the first place to talk about who copied who...
  18. Sorry if this has been asked/questions as I didn't read through the entire thread, but does anyone know if current CZ 75/Shadow internals be usable? Sear, hammer, etc?
  19. Someone on another forum mentioned CGW is working on a SAO kit for the P series guns. No sense in us venturing into it if that's the case.
  20. Seems we have a lot of people ask us about a SAO trigger for the P-07 and P-09. We're thinking about taking the plunge and making one if the interest is there for such a thing. For the comp guys who are only shooting single action, this could be a game changer. As we all know, with the CGW SRS and hammer, the single action on the P series guns is very nice. With the ability to eliminate what pre travel slack is left in SA, the SA trigger on these P series guns would be something to be reckoned with!

    Slide milling

Oh, I didn't take it that way at all, sir! Mostly clarifying something that a lot of folks don't really understand when it comes to how deep (insert slide here) can be milled for an optic.

    Slide milling

You can only mill as deep as a particular gun will law - we can mill Shadows considerably deeper than guns that are FPB equipped. FPB is the limiting factor on all slides FPB equipped.
