Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm using carver guide rods, not sure of the springs. Both are gen 4.
  2. Having issues with spring weights in both an open glock 17 (minor power factor) and open glock 34 (major pf). Both were having trouble going into battery with 10# recoil spring in the 17 and 12# rs in the 34. Swithced the 34 to a 15# and it fixed it, but not shooting as flat now. If i lighten the slides on both to run lightened recoil springs will I run into any problems with slide integrity specifically with shooting major 9mm loads? Both are running light weight striker springs, though not sure of weight.
  3. I got off the phone with them a little bit ago, should be sending a replacement panel.
  4. Thats the weird thing, the screw never budged. It stayed tight up against the right side of the mount. Almost like the nut just fell apart.
  5. Just trying to find out if this was a fluke, or if this is common with the carver mounts. Shot the double tap championship this last thursday, first match with this mount. By end of match I noticed the threaded area around the trigger pin screw had completely disappeared. Inner diameter was rounded off, outside diameter looks like it was slotted for a nut. Their appears to be no damage to the threads on the screw. Anyone else experienced this with carver's mounts?
  6. Stages are starting to look good, this is gonna be a fun one. May have to shoot my new open build for this one.
  7. My go to load for limited is a 200 grn lead coated from Tougher than Nails Bullets LLC with 3.8 grn tightgroup 1.130 oal using mixed brass form Elite Reloading and Winchester primers. I'm using factory barrel with this.
  8. If your shooting fmj, plated, or lead coated bullets you'll do just fine with the factory barrel. I had issues with feeding in a kkm with my hand loads using truncated cone lead bullets loaded as long as i could reliably feed in my magazines, but the factory barrel works perfect. I use zev triggers, but I also hear the DK triggers are worth every penny, probably gonna try one in the future. I'll also second the dawson sights and magwell. Arredondo mag extension are nice, TT though have extra weight at the bottom to help drive the mag out during release. You will have to cut the retention pins though or just double check them every time if your using a dawson ice magwell, they hit on the magwell. SJC makes a good mag release button as well. Speaking of SJC, if your okay with sticking with a ghost holster or cr spead rescomp, then the SJC frame weight is a great addition. The biggest downfall IMO with running plastic guns in major power factor against full length metal dust cover guns is the muzzle flip from the added recoil. The frame weight really helps with that, but limits your holster options. SJC offers a mod service for the ghost holster, you can mod the cr speed with a dremel easy enough though. My two cents though to add the already good advice hear. Oh and my spelling is horrible I know.
  9. Out of curiosity, how does the DK & Vanek compare to a Zev fulcrum kit?
  10. Thank you. I'm currently building a budget open gun with a spare glock 17 I had sitting in the safe. If I like it I'll probably start saving for a 2011 or tanfoglio for open. Just built a new limited gun, so can't dump to much on an open gun.
  11. Just introducing myself, been a lurker on these forums for awhile now. Been shooting uspsa for just over a year, and an occasional 3gun nation match though I'm outlaw now. C class limited, tinkering with the idea of open division. Also I've been considering branching over into idpa after working the recent silver dollar championship at my home range. Been reloading extensively for about 5 years now, reload 223, 308, 300 blackout, 40s&w, 9mm, and soon to be 45acp. Also do some minor gunsmithing, tinkering, and building on the side as a hobby.
