Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Here's a pretty interesting test. The cases survive 10x loadings of +p+ (124 @ 1300fps from a 4" barrel.)
  2. Hey guys, I'm looking to setup a LWRC DI 16" Midlength as sort of a "one and done" do all AR, suitable for both entry level competition and general SD/HD/things. Basically the goal is to get a tactical rifle with as close to the smoothness/flatness of a competition AR, but without sacrificing reliability / messing with the gas or bolt. I'm going to be using the PA EFAB as the muzzle device, because it also works as a flash suppressor and has much less blast then a typical competition brake. But testing shows the EFAB is rated for ~50% recoil reduction vs 70% for a more serious muzzle break, so I'm now looking into whether alternate buffers can help make up for the remaining 10-20% recoil. I'm considering the following options, and I wanted to see if anyone here has any experience with them in terms of how they effect recoil: -JP Silent Capture -Kynshot/Enidine Hydraulic buffer -Vltor A5 -MGI Rate and Recoil Reducing Buffer -DPM Recoil reducing buffer (this one looks the most promising, but there is no info on it.) https://dpmsystems.us/collections/ar-15/products/ar-15-223-5-56-calibre-rifles-mil-spec-standard-buffer-tube Does anyone here have any experience with the above, and if so, did they help reduce / smooth the recoil impulse? Any other options you would suggest?
  3. So I recently acquired a G43, and I'm quite fond of it. The size is perfect (it's about the size of my Walther PP when stacked on top of one another) and I actually like the way the trigger breaks. If a good SA trigger is like a "glass rod breaking" I would describe this trigger as "like a #2 pencil snapping" - ie some flex and a good bit of force, and then a real snappy, crisp break. However the pull is a bit too high, as out of 6 shots, I'm consistently putting 4 shots touching at 7 yards, and then dropping 2 about 1.5" low due to a bit of trigger jerk. This occurs both with the factory sights and the CT Green Laser Guard (which I highly recommend and plan to do a review on later.) Anyway I was contemplating doing the $0.25 trigger job, however I am concerned that it might remove the sharp break the trigger has now, and make it more of a indeterminate, surprise break. My friend's G35 with a Ghost connector has this type of break and I find it maddening. So my question is, will the $0.25 jeapordize my heavy-but-crisp break?
  4. This is exciting, I'm looking forward to testing out the Q100 to see if it shoots softer than some of the other striker pistols out there. Looked up a bit more info on it, some sources are claiming it to be a DA/SA striker system with second strike capability. So perhaps some variation of the ingenious Walther P99 striker system? https://www.all4shooters.com/en/specials/trade-shows-2015/IWA-2015/pistols/Grand-Power-Q100-semi-automatic-pistol/
  5. So I did a little bit more digging and it appears to be a Gold Team from circa 1992-1993. I actually came across the pretty much exact model in this vintage Tanfoglio ad, and then even more randomly, on the "Internet Movie Firearm Database," as Wesley Snipes's home defense gun in the 1993 movie Rising Sun. Super random but I'll take it.
  6. Hello, I recently got this very cool (for me at least) Tanfoglio open pistol in a trade, and I'm trying to find out more about it. It was from a gentleman who just collects pistols for the mechanical joy of them, and he didn't know too much about it. The pistol had never been fired, came with 8 magazines, and had a SA trigger like a bolt action rifle, so that was all I needed to know to make the trade. -The only markings on it are "FT- Made in Italy" on the left hand side below the safety, and "CAL 9" on the right, along with "Read warnings before using guns." -It is a small frame, in that it takes CZ 75 magazines. -The barrel is comped with a 3 port vertical cut, but the barrel is unported. -It is drilled for a scope mount only on the left hand side, and the cocking serrations are very fine, unlike the newer, thicker cuts. Does anyone know what model and era Tanfoglio this is? My best guess was an older 'Gold Team' but I have been unable to find an image online that exactly matches this pistol, and I'm quite curious to know more about it. Thanks for your help, -Mark
  7. Hey guys, glad to be here. I've been browsing the forums for a few years now, and finally decided to join. I recently got a pretty sweet vintage open pistol in a trade, and so that finally pushed me over the edge to join the forum. Thanks for having me! -Mark
