  1. Only approx. 5k cases overall and just 500 loaded at the moment. You won. ;-)
  2. Me too! except, that I've chosen the SI-1 reticle! I've put some impressions of the K16i to my blog at http://saschaback.de/blog/?p=454〈=en and http://saschaback.de/blog/?p=546〈=en
  3. I´m shooting a STI competition rifle in Open. Bought it last year. Modified parts in between are: bolt carrier (lightened/milled), gas block (adj.), buffer tube (lightened), stock (Ace) and comp (Arredondo). The STI is a great rifle to buy and start competiton shooting out of the box. Mods are easy possible (except the comp because it`s fixed, but this is also not a show stopper) but not really neccessary. If you can get it easy, it´s really worth the money. I like the handling of the short and light rifle. Beside - HERA would be also a very good choice - the quality of their parts is not comparable to the STI. Where the STI upper and lower has very noticeable play, the Hera parts are rock solid and fits perfect. Saw their new products at the IWA. As the others told already, for Standard, I´d also look for a 20" rifle.
  4. The Kahles K16i with the SI-1 recticle. Great scope. 1-6x24, daylight bright, true 1x, cat tail already build in.
  5. Just worked me through the 20 pages of this very, very interesting thread. How could I miss it for such a long time... I´ve started a initiative on the global village forum some months ago to get a rule change of the IPSC Revo rules. Maybe some of you noticed it. My post there was: Also in this thread (http://ipsc.invision...showtopic=15544) the call for 6-Major / 8-Minor came up, which I tried to avoid first. I´m still unsure, if we would see more shooters with allowing 8-shooters shot to capacity. But in between, I came to the point more and more, that we even wouldn´t loose anything by giving it a try. I really would appreciate your opinions in the thread on Global Village forum. The more, the better. It´s not only a USPSA thing - it´s a global thing. Sascha Back
  6. I've done my part. Now it's up to you to tell what you want the revo rules in IPSC to be in future. There is a chance to get a rule change (late, but better late then never).
  7. Matt, contact "pin shooter" here on Benos. He's making very nice and low mount for the C-More slide ride.
  8. From German "gun-eBay": http://egun.de/market/item.php?id=3835335
  9. Ben, please share your experience with the Rolling Thunder compared to the Arredondo and the Miculek. I just ordered a Arredondo, but I'm still interested how you find the difference. Which one of the Arredondo and the Miculek did you prefer?
  10. don't mix things up... I have different recipes for major. One, I used before the 38shorts was 200grs copper plated H&N RN bullets with N350 in 38spl cases. Next step in "evolution" has been shortened 38spl cases with 158grs H&N copper plated RNs and N340 and finally, the load I used at the Europeans 2010 and the WS last year - 38shortcolt 160grs ARES RN (polymer coated lead) and VV N350 loaded to make major. I've shot more than 20k of this load in the past years without any issue. All of my loads have been tested and proofed below 357mag pressure. No good idea to shoot them in a 38spl Revo but IMHO no prob in a 586 or 686. Of course, this without any guarantee. Everything's on your own risk.
  11. I recommend HearthCo clips. Worth every single $. Even if, as in my case, they need to be shipped to Europe with all the problems to get along with (customs, shipping costs etc). Perfect in combination with Starline .38ShortColt brass. My first choice in 627 for steel and in the 586 for IPSC major loads Dave Hearth is a member here. Just send him a message.
  12. I finished 4th. some 0.1x matchpoints behind Matt. Unfortunately. But this is how things go. Matt and I already had some beers on this. Keep in mind that he shot match ammo etc. New game, new chance. Think, this wasn't our last match together! ;-) No official site covering the results yet.
  13. My congrats to Ricardo, Jerry and Matt! Afaik: Ricardo Jerry 96% Matt 88% Great job!
  14. There are lots of discussions about this on Global Village forum. Unfortunately no new results yet. Only available printed at the range. At the moment, there's a tight race between Jerry and Ricardo for the lead. Don't know, who's first. I mean Ricardo has a slight lead, but don't nail me on that. Behind them, we are a few. I made some mistakes, Matt did the same, Cliff lost points etc. We all have our own Waterloo stage... There are five stages to go tomorrow afternoon, then the points will be added. In between, we are hoping, to get new results online. MOS site might be a chance to get results like on extremeshooting.br They offered their help to post results database like. But first, they need data... Brasilian guys couldn't get the huge files up to their site. Database returns only errors. Keep you posted, Sascha
  15. Hey guys, Matt was late due to problems with his flights. But he should be now up to date with all the stages on squad 51s schedule. We are having a great time together on the range and of course, we are also "fighting" very tough for each matchpoint. But as usual between wheelgunners, there are no bad things, everything is friendly and familiar! Team USA should be still on the lead, but team Germany is doing it's best...;-) Two more days to go! Maybe Pat or Cliff can post some pics, I don't have one yet. Sascha
  16. Matt, Ok, so you have to drink Mikes Ouzos... But back to topic - the IATA rules of the airlines I know are 5KG of ammo per passenger. This means "not enough". Luckily for me, the BDS ("German USPSA") organized ammo freight transport for the german team shooters. Don't know, how this is handled in USA? Do you shoot .45? If so, you can buy so called official match ammuniton from geco at the match. Do you have a user in IPSC global village? There, this topic is discussed extensively... Global Village - Match Ammo
  17. Mike, I was very looking forward to meet you and to get to know you in Greece. But as also being "selfemployed" I can understand this very good. I started right before Bali... Let's just shift this to next WS 2014! Or somewhere before. We'll have some ouzos with the us boys for you also! DVC, Sascha
  18. an extended one. Now, I´ve mounted a regular one. Doesn´t have a extended one on hand Hope, that it´ll work. Tomorrow I´ll have a practice session, next match on Friday! Think, I have to order a extended one immediately... Order an APEX XP not the competition model. IF you break they'll replace it. They stand behind their product. Worth the extra money. I´ve already wrote with Randy - Answer within minutes and I´ll have my replacements on their way on tuesday! Randy is my man! This is what I call outstanding service! *thumbsup*
  19. an extended one. Now, I´ve mounted a regular one. Doesn´t have a extended one on hand Hope, that it´ll work. Tomorrow I´ll have a practice session, next match on Friday! Think, I have to order a extended one immediately...
  20. Just found out, why the cylinder of my 586 sometimes didn´t close as smooth as usual while shooting the Infinity Euro Open. The reason was a broken firing pin! Luckily, the breakage was at a point, where the rest of the pin was a little bit thicker than the firing pin hole so it stayed in position and ignition was possible!
  21. is the sideplate pressing on the trigger action? I´ll stay with the hand. When you are pulling fast, it seems to slide over the star. Do I remember right, that you had similar timing probs at the nationals on Crete 2009? Didn´t a oversize hand solve the prob then?
  22. this was it what let me think of a problem of the hand. To be correct - you are pulling the trigger slowly, the cylinder starts to rotate and then, while pulling the trigger further, the cylinder stops anywhere before reaching the end-position (cylinderstop pops into the notch)? -> Did you check movement of the hand with cylinder open? How does it look like? I would disassemble it completely, clean and oil all parts and assamble it again. Then next try.
  23. Hi Sheriff, I once had some dust/sand/grease/oil mixture in the window for the hand. This also caused some trouble with transportation of the cylinder....maybe somthing like that? How did you finish the Nats? Looking very forward to Rhodes! Best, Sascha
  24. sure? International ruling for IPSC Revo Standard is, that it´s allowed to use 7 or even 8-shot Revos. You can load 7 or 8 but you have to reload after six shots fired. If you shoot more before reloading, you´ll get a procedural for each shot. Appendix D5: APPENDIX D5 Revolver Standard Division 1. Minimum power factor for Major 170 2. Minimum power factor for Minor 125 3. Minimum bullet weight No 4. Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length 9mm (0.354”) / 19mm (0.748”) 5. Minimum bullet caliber for Major No 6. Minimum trigger pull (see Appendix F2) No 7. Maximum handgun size No 8. Maximum magazine length Not applicable 9. Maximum ammunition capacity No, see below. 10. Max. distance of handgun and speed loaders from torso 50mm 11. Rule 5.2.3.1 applies Yes 12. Restriction on position of holster and other equipment No 13. Optical/electronic sights permitted No 14. Compensators, sound and/or flash suppressors permitted No 15. Ports permitted No Special conditions: 16. No limit on cylinder capacity, however, a maximum of 6 rounds to be fired before reloading. Violations will incur one procedural penalty per occurrence. 17. Any complete revolver (or a revolver assembled from components), produced by an OFM and available to the general public (except prototypes) is permitted. 18. Modifications such as weights or other devices to control and/or to reduce recoil are prohibited. 19. Modifications which are permitted are limited to: 19.1. Replacement of, or modification to, sights, hammers and cylinder releases; 19.2. Replacement barrels, provided the barrel length, weight and profile are the same as the OFM standard; 19.3. Cosmetic enhancements which do not give a competitive advantage (e.g. plating, checkering of frames, custom grips); 19.4. Chamfering and/or modifications to the cylinder to accept “Moon Clips”. 19.5. Replacement springs, trigger stops and other modifications to enhance the operation of the trigger. 20. "Self-loading" revolvers with retractable slides are prohibited in this Division.
  25. Pino, glad, that you liked my gun+load ;-) In my opinion, you should practice the same load and gun as you use in a match. Go for the .38 short. Easiest way. Only mill the cylinder for moons and you are done. OK, trigger job is also helpful... Hans Wigger should have the Starline Brass in NL (if not, Hofmann is the german distributor for Starline). Clips: I'm using Hearthco moons. Best what I found. Bullets: Ares 160 grs (source: Frank Weuster, www.wiederlader.de) DVC, Sascha
