  1. I shot my new DVC this morning. Shoots like a dream, but it hates my short reloads (1.135" with a Blue Bullets 200 gr RNFP). It choked about every 3 rounds on average. Hopefully a more tapered bullet profile and a little longer length will take care of it. I'm going to order some 180s to try. It worked OK with Blazer Brass 180 gr factory ammo.
  2. I just bought a Comp Tac International shell on a Ghost hanger to try. I want something a little more versatile than a race holster as well. I have been using an International for my Glocks for a while, so I have all of the belt attachments that I can use with the 2011 as well. We'll see how it works out.
  3. I've shot a C-zone sized silhouette out to 150-175 yards with a Glock 34. I couldn't hit it every time by any means, but 4-5 times per mag was doable.
  4. I tend to agree with Mr. Enos on this - your finger is going to hit the trigger wherever it hits the trigger. Just be consistent and train yourself to apply flat, even pressure when the trigger breaks.
  5. For me it depends greatly on target difficulty. Open target at 5 yards? Focus on the target, see the center of the target over the top of the slide, shoot. Open target at 10 yards? See the target, let my eyes shift focus to the sights, but I feel like I shoot before I have a "hard focus" on the front sight. Partials, steel, anything at longer distance? I better get a good hard look at the sights.
  6. I ordered a holster today and added a 12 lb spring to my order too. I believe everything will be here this week, so I'm planning to shoot it some after a classifier match this weekend. I'll start shooting it in matches soon with the STI mags (it's coming with 3) while I save up for a few MBX mags.
  7. Load my gun, press check, tune everything out, and go. The more I stand there thinking about stuff and fiddling around, the more distracted from my stage plan I seem to get.
  8. What I meant was should I shoot a few hundred rounds of factory ammo first to "break it in" while ruling out my reloads as the cause for any issues. Most factory ammo is loaded pretty short too though.
  9. Too much caffeine before the match makes me jittery, and when the match adrenaline kicks in I'm a mess. I'll have coffee in a travel mug on the way to the range (just like any other morning) then water and a protein bar or two during the match.
  10. Don't neglect your lower body, even if it's just bodyweight squats or lunges. These will also help with core strength/stability.
  11. You guys ruined me. I got an extra paycheck this month, so I said "what the heck" and bought a DVC Limited. Should be here this week. The only 40 ammo I have is loaded fairly short for my Glock - about 1.135". 200 gr Blue Bullet at 840-850 fps in my G35. What are the chances this stuff will work OK in the DVC? Should I try an initial break in with factory ammo? My understanding is that I'll want to start loading longer ammo (1.180ish) for this thing to run optimally. Does anyone have a "favorite" load they'd recommend?
  12. My Glock 35 mags will hold 20 if you really force them, but are realistically 19 round mags if you want to seat them against the closed slide without using a hammer. I don't think I've ever run into a case where not having that 19th round would have caused me to completely bomb a stage.
  13. Ah, I didn't realize the DVC came with 2-3 mags. I thought they all came with just 1 mag. I figured the 126mm mag would be fine for the last mag in my belt which I never use anyway and even if I did would probably not run empty. I was talking to a local gunsmith earlier who builds 2011s (that are out of my price range), and he mentioned he might sell his Limited gun...Tactical 5.0 in 40 with a Dawson magwell, FO sights, 3 140mm mags, etc. He's going to come up with a price, and I might consider that if the price is right (meaning if I could flip it for at least what I have in it if I change my mind).
  14. Thanks for all of the feedback. I think the DVC and more semi-custom (CK, Atlas, Brazos) guns are awesome, but I'm trying not go down the rabbit hole of "X is only a little more than Y. Oh yeah, Z is only a little more than X..." This will be my first 2011, and I'm not sure I want to sink $3000+ into just the gun right off the bat. I still have to buy mags, a holster, and all of that stuff first. My original plan was to buy an Edge, shoot it for a while, and if the 2011 becomes "the gun" for me, buy a higher end gun and keep the Edge as a backup. The potential of spending a little more (well, the equivalent of a new Glock more!) to get a sight tracker intrigued me, but it sounds like I'll be just fine with the Edge.
  15. I like the way you think...lol. Coming from Glocks the price of mags is...depressing. I guess the ratio is about the same as the price difference between the guns though...It sounds like the Edge (which was my original plan) is likely the way I'll go. Look forward to seeing what others have to say.
  16. In the next month or so I plan to purchase a 2011 for USPSA Limited, and I've narrowed it down to these two. I have never shot either. I've never shot a sight tracker. I don't know anyone who owns either for me to try out. I THINK I would really like a sight tracker, but from a pure aesthetic standpoint I'm not crazy about slide finish or serrations on the Apeiro. Aesthetics don't really matter to me as much as the way it shoots, though, so I could live with it. The $600ish price difference isn't inconsequential, but I'm willing to spend more if it gets me "more" gun. Any feedback from those who have owned/shot both?
  17. I have a stainless guide rod, 13-17 lb ISMI springs, ZEV magwell, ZEV Fulcrum Ultimate Kit, grip tape, and Way of the Gun Y notch sights on mine. I wish ZEV would release their barrels for the 35.
  18. How do you like the WOTG sight set? I'm wouldn't mind trying the set. I like them. The narrower rear notch (vs. the Warren Sevignys I was using) is more precise, but I haven't lost any speed on "hoser" targets.
  19. Update: After filing a dispute with Paypal, Eric sent my grips earlier this week. I should have them in another day or two. Now that I've already bought something else. :-/
  20. I checked a few different sources, and you guys are right. The ejector is the same between the 10mm and 45. I swear once before when I looked into it I saw that they were different parts. I must have gotten it confused with the 9mm and 40/357.
  21. To convert a G20 to 45 you have to swap the whole top end (either G21 or G41 should be fine) as well as the ejector.
  22. I just did the same thing. Ordered in March, emailed in April, no response, emailed in May, no response, claim filed with Paypal 2 1/2 months from the original order date. :-/ I ended up buying some from the Ben Stoeger Pro Shop. Doesn't go up as high on the grip, but it gets the job done.
  23. Mine aren't quite as pornographic as some posted here, but I enjoy them. I have several others, but these 2 are the "fancy Glocks" in my stable. G35, WOTG Y notch sights, ZEV extended guide rod, 13 lb spring, ZEV Fulcrum Ultimate Kit (black/black, not shown in this picture), ZEV brass magwell w/ light brass insert, Grip Force Adapter, grip tape from the Ben Stoeger Pro Shop G17, RM02 RMR, Ameriglo suppressor sights (non tritium), slide cerakoted burnt bronze (all done by L&M Precision), Storm Lake threaded barrel, ZEV Fulcrum Ultimate Kit (black/red), Glock extended slide release, AAC Tirant 9, Grip Force Adapter has since been swapped for a factory medium beavertail backstrap
  24. I've had an issue with 180 gr Berry's keyholing and being very inaccurate from my G35 lately, too. I believe I over crimped them, and I think I have about 400 rounds left. Should I just shoot them up in close-range practice where the accuracy and keyholing doesn't make a big difference? I've since switched to 200 gr Blue Bullets (which shoot fine).
