I myself had problems with a tight chamber on my rifle, and it took a while to get it figured out that it had a tight bentz chamber. I had them ream it and now it runs like a champ. I have had no problems with my Scorpion and it is the first rimfire pistol I have been able to get run 100% at Big Steel Challenge and other Rimfire matches. If you have issues with your Volquartsen guns contact them. Their customer service is second only to Dillon.....in my experience. DougC

I have one with the 4.5 and comp. It is the flattest gun I have run, including some of my homemade comped Rugers. If you are going to run iron sights then the 6 would be the way to go. You won't need the extra weight for open. I milled the rail area off and put a CMore on it. I don't like the small field of view of the smaller slide ride type dots. Enjoy! DougC

I used a Redding adjustable seating die. I took it to my smith and had him mill the body shorter and then the longer bullets will not hit the body. DougC

Jerry when he shot and the now good open guys...Rich, Neil, Vic, etc. all have comps or ports on their open guns. If there was not a perceived advantage real or not they would not have them.... Yep. This will be the place that will put it out 1st to the masses. At least one club in each (NZ/Aus) will put in bids and we should hear something by July. It is too bad that Andrea Moroni got injured, but I am glad that he survived his Ducati wreck. As he is recovering from that I understand not having the time to set up the match. I missed out on the last Australian match, and won't do that again.... DougC

For over a month now I have not been able to load any new content. With Bianchi practice, the match, and work/ kids I have not had time or energy to mess with it. I have noticed the other threads and tried to check my settings but the simple fact is that I have not changed any settings for the years I have been on the forum. I would appreciate any assistance so I can be lazy and just click the view new content tab to catch up when I have time. Thanks! DougC

It sounds like the bullets are too soft. Go to a Bullseye or W231 speed powder and you should be fine.... DougC

The match primers reduce groups sizes from 17-22% in accuracy at 50 yards for Bianchi loads......They would be a waste on anything less....LOL. DougC

Zack, we were running Para with scopes on them before the STIs came out, at Major power....no problem. With steel loads you shouldn't have any issues as long as your smith knows what he is doing. If you are worried then use a Serendipity dual side mount. They work great, especially on aluminum frames. DougC

Check your accuracy. 88-95 JHPs will shoot through one hole at 35 yds, but substituting fmj will open up the groups something fierce......The Bayous should be more oversize than the fmjs and should be more accurate, but don't just go for feel.......Shoot groups bracketing like that and find the load that shoots accurately. If it takes .04 grains more than what you like "feel" wise, go with the accurate load. When you are shooting 5 to Go you don't want a 3-4inch load when you can bump up to a sub 1 inch load.......... Try replacing the two springs on the primer slide arm and make sure the primer punch spring is not broke. This happens when the primer slide slams into place and the primer is tipped up when the punch comes up. DougC

Targetmaster 6in with the Aristocrat tri set. Get a bushing barrel so you can replace the bushing and get your accuracy back. Get 8 metalform 9 rd front ramp mags and then load up a bunch of ammo for practice. I lightened my slide but you can get by without it. Get a Prone pad from Protocall Design here on the forum. Then shoot, shoot some more, shoot after that, and then shoot more as well...... If you like action, it is a blast...... DougC

WST is pretty fast in 9mm cases......Go slow.....If I had a gun and had sticky extraction issues I would have the cylinder reamed......hint hint...... DougC

Yes, you can load .357 or .358 bullets in the 9mm cartridge. As long as it will fit in the chamber it will work fine, and generally speaking the accuracy will be much better. Beretta's notoriously have barrels that shoot best with a .357 diameter bullet. I currently load .358 coated 160 LRN in 38 special, 38 short colt, and 9mm. They work fine in my STI 6in steel gun but I have to case gauge them. Depending on the brass some are a little fat. If you have a tight match chamber you will need to make a dummy round and find out what OAL and crimp will work in your gun. Unless you are running a max pressure load using a bigger bullet will not put you in jeopardy....... . As always, work up your load.... DougC

Yep. Set up your stage. then pull the targets and wood down. Then set up the second stage and leave it up. Shoot first stage up. Then drop the targets and put up the second stage targets and there you go! No biggie. DougC

You can use 9mm load data. Add about .2 grains up from 9mm data and you will be really close.

The coating on the brand new brass from Starline needs to be tumbled off before you load it so you won't have sticking and notice the harder fit in the sizing die. I don't remember what they put on it, but it retards tarnishing. Regardless, I will try and take some pics to show the new brass with the bulge vs. once fired and once fired commercial rollsized Redding sizing die with the same bullet. I don't know what the problem is with the brass. We have two 929s around here. One has not been shot enough to know if it has a problem,and the other I found out yesterday does. My guess is that Smith ran reamers too long and some chambers are minimum dimensions. I remember a lot of 625s needed to be reamed as well....... DougC

98% sure. My two open guns are a mk III and a Volquartsen scorpion lowers. I use mk II and mk III mags in it no problem with the Volquartsen trigger units. DougC

If you can, shoot some of the new brass in another gun and reload it and then try it in the 929. I recently loaded some new starline 9mm with 160s and had a pronounced bulge in the brass. I didnt' have any bulge with commercial once fired cases. If the brass internal volume is different or less with the load you will have a different pressure curve than the other commercial brass as they have more internal volume.....just spitballing here but something to try.......What a PITA huh.....
