  1. If you don't reload get a 9mm.Id try and see if some one will let you shoot an xd,maybe hit a steel shoot and talk to some guys with an xd you'll probably have offers to shoot one.I shoot a rock island .40 pro match and my son has an xd 9.His nine is as accurate as my 40 but just starting out it comes with 3 mags a speed loader and holster so if money's an issue it would be a great way to get started and there are lots of used ones out there at good prices. It'll get you in the game at a good price and you can spend the extra dollars you would spend on magazines and holster on ammo.
  2. I push down on the back of the prImer tray and viola they feed perfectly. Before I pushed down on the primer tray I was having a few hang at the hole.
  3. I went with auto drum it's very accurate ,I hate the clunk of the newer Dillion measures. It truly dispenses accurate repeatable loads.
  4. The bullet tray for me on the square deal makes it tight to load a bullet into the case.Get some hornaday one shot case lube it will make reloading a lot smoother especially if your going to wash you brass.Make sure you build a strong reloading bench! The strong mount is nice but The money saved would leave you enough to build a really sturdy bench.I used 3 4x4's and 3/4" sheet of plywood (not press board) I braced mine with the 4x4 on both ends and the middle,it's rock solid..If that's to big of a bench for your room look at Home Depot for some 1/2 sheets .If your going to use a digital scale make sure you get a set of weights to check the scale.I just use a lee scale I've had for years like over 20 years, new there about 25.00 .Id trust the lee scale over a cheaper digital myself.
  5. I put one on my 550 and it is so smooth operating now.You won't be sorry bro!
  6. I much prefer the older model the new model is clunky as hell, powder drops are the same.
  7. It looked like there were 2 adjustment screws on the holster, so what do those do, It looked like they tensioned the holster to keep the gun secure?
  8. I've been using a lee auto drum for .223 no powder leak anymore.
  9. I have an R.I.A. Pro match .40 and was looking at Ben Stoger holster but kinda confused on which to order? If some one has one for a 2011 help me decided on which to get.
  10. I have a RIA pro match .40 I'd like to have a trigger job on and tuned extractor.
  11. Plus one on the lee auto drum man mine is so accurate throwing charges it's ridiculous.I just ordered a second one to set up on my .223 tool head.
  12. Thanks climb hard just getting ready to work some with that powder.
  13. So how many 1/10 grains do you go up when developing an accuracy load.Is it worth loading at 1/10 more each set I'm working up or 2/10 per set?
  14. Now I'm undecided the 1050 looks sweet especially since I may have a deal on a 9 mm.this week the son wants to load 2000 9,I need load 500 .223 and work a lot of .40 load development rounds.Just got rso for our local range so I'm gonna have to spend time there which will cut into reloading time. The wife has Ben shooting .22 for steel but next match she wants to use her 9 mm.Im thinking now I might get a 1050 for 9mm and the .223.Is it possible to run small rifle primers for both 9 and .223 my thinking is no primer change just shell plate and tool head.
  15. RHe may gain a slight edge in speed with the square deal b I run pretty close to the same speed on either press you get so fast on the 550 indexer that you don't even think about the indexing it just happens. One thing tho is it can be easy to double charge a case if you get distracted and don't index the case if I'm interrupted (usually by the wife or friends )I tell them to hang on a minute and I run out what's on the press the auto index on the square deal helps prevent this.
  16. I'm shooting the rock island 2011 pro match ,I've been loading to 1.18 feed is flawless at that lenghth in my gun anything under 1.14 and I was having feed problems .
  17. Wanting to get a starting load for shooting steel using 165 grain blue bullets.currently have been loading 180 xtreme .powders on hand w231,shilloutte,wsl1,solo 1000,700x and tight group.looking for more a minor load but it would be nice if I could use the same bullet weight for major also?
  18. The shell plate secures the shell as it rotates from station to station and the powder funnel flares the casing for inserting your bullet and at the same time allows the powder charge to be dropped.
  19. You're reloading 30,000 rounds per year, and interested in saving $20. :roflol: :roflol: BTW, if I were loading 100 rounds/day, I'd seriously think about the 1050. No need to waste money as most of my money goes into reloading.Last Sunday 4 of shot just over 1000 round at our steel match I was thinking about the 1050 but I really like the lifetime no B.S. Warranty on the 650.Ive used it on both my Dillion presses in the past and still can't believe how great Dillion stands behind their product.
  20. Thanks I've looked at the double alpha pretty sure I may get their belt
