Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I heard from a Walther Tech that the Q5 is all ready to be approved and as soon as they distribute 2000 it will be. Which must have been yesterday as the USPSA Production list now includes the Q5 Match. With an official weight of 26 oz. which combined with a Red dot comes well under the Carry Optics maximum. Walther's response really impressed me as I didn't mention exact details about getting approved and the rep directly mentioned the 2000 units requirement. Based on my familiarity with the base PPQ and since I have spare mags to use as well, seriously thinking the Q5 Match is going to become my dedicated competition choice with being able to easily go from production to carry optics the clincher.
  2. It is now officially on Walther Arms website and starting to get more attention. I also just emailed customer service to ask about working towards Carry Optics eligibility so hopefully that will be good news.
  3. Good to hear as want to get a semi-custom but was worried as kept going in and out of stock
  4. Looks good. A fellow shooter at my last match mentioned they were hard to get off too during a competition for imprompto cleaning. Is that more of a non-issue then it seems? Especially when you are in a sport / division where you aren't going through a ton of mags a stage? (ie anything not USPSA Production / L10) Edit for another example
  5. Thanks I'll dig through that. There is some tension adjustment I believe. I'll take it apart, clean it and then some graphite to break it in. Makes me a bit sad that I have so much AA7 left to use up before getting a different brand. Thanks I'll try it!
  6. I have just confirmed both through empirical experience and internet confirmation that Accurate #7 is a leaky powder, which is a bit of a shame as was one of the few powders locally available when I got setup with 8lbs of it. I recently upgraded to the Lee Auto-Drum on my Lee Turret press and a definite improvement over the auto-disk. However, the powder still leaks out between the plastic drum and metal enclosure. Not nearly as much as the disk but still very noticeable after a good reloading session. I tried googling and searching here but couldn't find anything helpful, would anyone have suggestions for mitigating this?
  7. Thanks for reporting in Thanks for bailing me out. I didn't go to the Walther event fairly close to me. My ardor diminished when I heard the Randy Lee trigger wasn't going into it. The MSRP is high for what they have added imo unless you really want to go optics division Only around a hundred bucks more then what KY Guns is asking for a standard 5inch model. And based on pricing out milling a normal slide for an optic plus whatever the extra slide serrations / cuts would be seems worth it based on that alone. Though considering the cost of a specially made holster to accommodate the mount, probably a wash on price. I do agree that it is definitely a niche product but nice to see Walther trying.
  8. A fairly local range/shop is having "Walther Days" this weekend. Their email advertised the gun. We will see Hopefully it will be there and you can try it out. Let us know what it is like please!
  9. Oh yes that would be good, either that or have two slides to switch back and forth
  10. Now I have something else I'll be saving up for, a CZC Carry Optics Accu-Shadow. One question at the moment, it looks like the rear iron sight has been removed as part of the process, so no way to shoot it accurately without the red dot sight? Just checking as would like to be able to shoot it if possible while saving up for an optic. Edit for clarity
  11. Did any one happen to see anything else about this as part of Shot 2016 coverage? I couldn't and Walther doesn't have anything official that I could find.
  12. Great find! I really like my 4inch PPQ and would definitely be interested in this for Carry Optics and 3 gun. Still a concern for how hard it is to find holsters let alone other aftermarket support currently for what they have already, which might impact purchasing.
  13. Not much to add except that I just started reloading and my only pistol right now is a PPQ 9mm as well. I use 147gr Blue Bullets and they wouldn't reliably pass a plunk and turn test until downgraded the OAL to just inbetween 1.13 and 1.14. With that they feed and fire fine.
  14. Thanks for all the replies everyone. I am using the Auto-Disk powder measure that doesn't have a chain so that confused me a little But the links and info look to be invaluable in general and given me a lot to go over after my Range Officer class this weekend as have been busy with work and prepping for that. And yes, definitely the Pro Auto Drum is on my radar especially after so many mentions but one thing at a time.
  15. All these awesome photos are making me want my own even more. Just have to wait and save then hopefully with tax return...
