  1. I love Bayou Bullets and they are all I’m using for the foreseeable future. I think they are the best mix of quality bullet, smoking, and price available. They do smoke more then when I run a JHP but I describe them as producing the same amount of smoke as a FMJ with an exposed base. I tried Titegroup with them but was unhappy with the amount of smoke (same as I was when using it with FMJs). Below are the loads I developed for my M&Ps (40 pro and 9L). OAL is 1.135 on all loads 9MM 135gr 4.0gr WST 135PF 40S&W 140gr 4.0gr Clays 135PF 40S&W 180gr 5.5 WSF 175PF I have gen 1, 2, 3 bullets that I plan on chronoing as soon as I get a free day that it's not snowing up here. I'll list my findings after.
  2. Most matches don’t weight guns, heck I’ve been to a couple major matches that didn’t even chrono our ammo but the rules are that production guns have to meet a certain weight and it is the weight on the list. S&W did the same thing when the 9L finally made the production list and they got that weight changed pretty quickly. After the ridiculous wait to get the 40 Pro on the production list my heart just sank when I saw the listed weight but S&W should be able to get this fixed quickly.
  3. You sir are correct. I weighed my 5” pro and included an empty magazine; my scale said just less than 28oz. I think what happened is the person from S&W that submitted the paperwork did not include the magazine weight and just looked at the weight listed on the web site which is 26oz. I'm pretty sure S&W did the same thing when the 9L finally made the list.
  4. So Mark what are the differences between the two? different shrouds and tubes or is it just different nordic end caps? Thanks, Ryan
  5. I think someone messed up when they listed that weight. My 5" 40 pro is almost 28oz and the only changes I made are an apex sear and dawson front sight. The 5" 9 pro is listed at 29.2 and the full size 40 is listed at 27.5. I have both the full size M&P 40 and 5" M&P 40 pro and the pro slide is more then an ounce heaver then the full size.
  6. can anyone tell me how the 5" 40 pro weights less then a 4" 40
  7. WOW 2” at 25 is not accurate. I’d love to see these real accurate guns you speak of.
  8. Yep its just an 1/8 hole in the front of the mag. The hole will even be covered by the mag well when it is in the gun. This is what I would do if I lived in NY. You could do 50 mags for $5, convert them back if you move or the law is changed, and I don't think 1 1/8 hole is destroying you're mag.
  9. WST or Solo 1000 I would work with WST since I don't like the way Solo meters
  10. I broke several tabs off my Wilson 10rd mags. Wilson always replaced them but I would buy the Chip McCormick 10rd mags as I was never able to break them and they are cheaper. For 8rd mags I still prefer Wilson.
  11. I friend of mine just bought a Windham varmint that came with a 5rd mag. All they did was take a 10rd mag, drilled a hole on the front and install a pop rivet to stop the follower. They used a magpull follower and the big square front worked good with the rivet. I’m still not sure how you get the follower out but it’s a simple idea to limit capacity.
  12. Most of the time I didn’t notice the smoke either but if you shoot them at certain times like afternoon squad at the nations this year with the sun going down in front of you the smoke is a killer.
  13. Depends on what bullet and what you want to do with it. I don’t believe there is one powder that does everything great.
  14. I prefer the 135, not as sluggish as the 147 but softer then the 125.
  15. We are just not going to agree on this. I’ve seen far too many Glocks become sub 2” guns at 25 yards with a properly fit barrel (sorry don’t shoot many 50 yard groups). I remember reading about the history of 1911s and they were considered horribly inaccurate until the 50s when gunsmiths started building bullseye guns. Even though they could build accurate guns it took them several more years to figure out how to make them both accurate and reliable. The M&P has been around for 4 or 5 years; I’m not saying it will be the greatest platform ever produced but I do think it can be developed farther then it currently is.

  17. I want to start by saying that my goal here is to find ways to improve my M&Ps and not to just argue. If you are talking about an open gun with a frame mounted optic then slide to frame fit is important but when we are talking about an iron sighted gun it is not. I’m not trying to say slide to frame fit means nothing on an iron sighted gun but as long as there is good lockup between the slide and barrel and consistent lockup between the barrel lug and the locking block you should have good accuracy regardless of slide to frame fit. If there are problems that need to be addressed with the M&P platform please state them instead of just saying they will never be a 1911.
  18. I'll ask one last time what are the other issues you keep eluding to but never state
  19. Wow so according to you there is nothing you can do to increase the accuracy of the M&P. It has been my experience that accuracy is a result of consistency. The purpose of a oversized/gunsmith fit barrel or whatever you want to call them is to precisely fit the barrel hood to the slide so it always locks into the same position and also the bottom lugs to control the vertical lock up and timing of the barrel. By tightening these tolerances you increase the consistency of lockup, fix any timing issues with early unlocking, and increase the accuracy of the firearm. If these principles work with a 1911 please explain why they would not also apply to the M&P.
  20. I know what a gunsmith fit barrel is my question was a "so called gunsmith fit barrel" and the idea that a fitted barrel is no different then a drop in
  21. That thought crossed my mind but I do not have a tig
  22. Nither Storm Lake nor KKM offer oversized gunsmith fit barrels for sale to the general public. I started emailing both companies more then two years ago asking them if they planed to offer oversized barrels. KKM responded by saying that they want to make a gunsmith fit M&P barrel but are just too busy to develop one now. After a year of getting that same response I just gave up. Storm Lake did not respond. The fact is no company offers an oversized barrel for the M&P that you can buy at this time. There is one place selling fitted Storm Lake barrels but they won’t sell you one unless they fit it. I would buy an over sized KKM instantly I’ve had great results with there barrels but I do not want a drop in barrel. I’m glad you had good results with you’re drop in but that has not been my experience with them. e
  23. $230 is what a BarSto barrel costs, I don't know why they charge more then everyone else but they are great barrels. I would love a KKM but the only M&P barrels they sell are drop in and I’d rather pay $230 for a barrel that can be correctly fit then $180 for one that might work. I do not want to play the drop in barrel game again, been there done that. Until someone else makes an oversized gunsmith fit barrel BarSto is the only game in town. I was thrilled when Randy said that the underlugs are also oversized, a lot of Glock oversized barrels only have you fit the hood so you don’t get the full benefit of a custom fit barrel. I just hope we will not get teased for another year. Thanks, Ryan
