  1. I’m really looking forward to this but it is hard to wait
  2. When did S&W make a gray 40 follower? I have the flat and humped black 40 followers but the only gray M&P followers I’ve seen were 9mm.
  3. Titegroup, and 320 are the most popular. WSF and Universal Clays are popular for slower powders.
  4. Hey its you’re body. I've had guns blow up on me and carry the scars; I don’t want to do that again. Hodgen who distributes WST says it is not safe, I heard the Sierra manual has new numbers but I don’t know how they can be a full grain over Hodgen and the old Winchester loads when the powder has not changed. Unless you have access to a ballistics lab with a calibrated pressure gun you are just guessing about the pressure. I do have a friend that runs a lab and have had them tested and they were well over 35,000 before we hit 170PF. My buddy still has not found a 9mm major load that is under 50,000 (his personal project) but people get away with doing that. Maybe I’m just getting paranoid in my old age. Then again looking at primers doesn’t mean anything and you will hear people tell you all the time that there load is safe because the primers look good. Same guys did a test on that subject and can produce loads that are well within pressure where the primers look horrible and loads way over pressure that look fine. Ok I’m done ranting I guess I’m tried and grumpy tonight.
  5. I would add that WST makes a great 40 minor load. I load 4grs with a 140gr Bayou and it feels like cheating. I load them both at 975fps (135 and 175 PF) same everything whether shooting major or minor, minor is just softer and I don’t have to fear the crono.
  6. Just an FYI I believe WST is too fast for 40 major at 1.125 or standard OAL. Most people who run WST for major 40 load it long 1.180 to 1.200. When I was running a P16 I tried it and after the fourth case head separation I decided to stop and run a slower powder. And I was running an OAL of 1.200. I don’t think the small reduction in recoil is worth the risk you are taking and would recommend WSF instead. Congratulations on the gifts from you’re wife; sounds like you’ve got it good. I ran 5.4gr of WSF behind a Bayou 180gr in my 40 pro at the limited nations and don’t plan on changing any time soon.
  7. Unfortunately I’m one of those people that bleed every time I shoot a Glock and while I can fix that by putting a beavertail on the gun that knocks me out of production. I was excited when I saw the gen4 beavertail but I think Glock has released 3 so far and I’ve heard “rumors” that they decided not to release it at all (hope that is not true). Even if I could get the factory beavertail with all the problems they have had with the gen4s I’m glad I didn’t jump on them. I do prefer the M&P to the Glock I’m just frustrated that this seams to be going nowhere.
  8. Wow sorry for being unreasonable I guess asking every several months is outrageous.
  9. So does anyone think we will get to shoot our 5” 40 pros in production this year?
  10. I have 8 M&P 40 mags with TF 140 base pads and they all are 20 round reloadable. You would have to work to get 21 in the mag but it can be done I’ve seen it but don’t think it is reliable so I wont use them myself. The stock springs will work for a while but they are not strong enough to last very long in a 140 mag. You have to use the factory spring to get 21 so I’m told. My gun started out running my mags with the stock springs after using them for maybe 5 months. I do smooth the follower and the transition to the base bad but I do not shorten the follower. The brass pads add a little weight but once I’m shooting I really don’t notice the difference.
  11. any updates on the one piece tube
  12. My minor 40 S&W load is 4.0gr of clays @1.135 with a Bayou 140gr bullet This gives me 975fps average in my M&P PRO 5” with a stock barrel
  13. I would rank the hardness of CCI small pistol primers between Winchester small pistol and Winchester small rifle. I feel Winchester and CCI are pretty close but the Winchester is definitely softer. If you are getting light hits with the Winchesters you might want to make sure they are fully seated.
  14. CCI primers are harder then winchester
  15. Problem is no one makes an oversized gunsmith fit barrel for the M&P yet. The Bar-Sto barrel was supposed to be released months ago, and I can’t find anything from them or Apex about when the barrel will be released. Storm Lake does not list any oversized barrels for sale for the M&P. G&R tactical is supposedly releasing a storm lake gunsmith fit barrel sometime but they won’t sell it unless they fit it and I’ve been burned by that company once already they will not get any more of my money. I started asking KKM about an oversized gunsmith fit barrel 2 years ago. They told me that they would like to release one but do not have the time to design one now, they are to busy. If I’m missing someone please let me know but I don’t know of anyone selling a gunsmith fit oversized barrel for the M&P.
  16. I have M&Ps in 9mm and 40 S&W and this is what I can tell you from my guns. The OD on my 9mm and 40 S&Ws are identical down to the thousandth same with the holes in the end of the slide. These interchange without a problem. The breach face on the 9mm is smaller then the 40 S&Ws. The barrel hood is also smaller on the 9mm barrels. So you can drop a 9mm barrel into a 40S&W slide but the barrel hood fit will be sloppy. None of my 40S&W barrels would fit the breach face of my 9mm, the barrel hood is to large.
  17. well the 4 m&ps I have all have the same size OD barrels barrel hoods are different sizes
