  1. Has anyone had trouble with Henning's Large Frame USPSA Base Pads (http://henningshop.com/products/tanfoglio-uspsa-base-pad-large-frame)? I ordered 4 of them a few weeks ago. Henning sent me an email a day or two later stating that the new style were out of stock, but he would send me the old style to use until he was able to make more of the new style. I was impressed with the customer service at that point. Fast forward to last week. I received the old style pads, but they seem to be too small to fit my triangle "T" 10mm mags. I emailed Henning last Friday and left a voicemail at the shop yesterday, but I haven't heard back from him yet. Has anyone else had this type of problem or know a better way to contact Henning? Thanks!
  2. I've never owned an STI or any other 2011 platform, but I've handled them and I've never been really big on how they felt in my hands, compared to a CZ/Tanfo platform. I decided to go with a Tanfo Limited when I started building a Limited gun. It remains to be seen if this was a good choice compared to a 2011, but I like being different and I just love the way a CZ/Tanfo fits my hands. I'm just getting started and have a box full of parts left to install, but here is where I am now.
  3. I don't have any experience with the tapered pin, but CGW's floating pin has never walked in any of my guns.
  4. Personally, I didn't like my M4-72. I used PA's Accu-washer set, but I never could get it tuned to my liking. YMMV. I went back to the Miculek comp and like it much better, for half the cost. I've been meaning to try a Titan comp, but haven't gotten around to it.
  5. Agreed! I leaned on kneelingatlas' thread on David quite a bit when I bought my first 75B and tricked it out for IDPA. I learned a ton about the workings of it, and that knowledge has served me well.
  6. http://www.shootingsportsinnovations.com/ Thanks! Too bad these don't look like they will work with a magwell.
  7. Where are these available? I can't seem to find a way to order them.
  8. I hope so. Otherwise he will end up very frustrated. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  9. I got mine yesterday as well. It promptly went into a pile in my gun room until needed.
  10. Some sort of quality dehumidifier (like a golden rod) inside should prevent any moisture problems. You definitely want to anchor it to the concrete floor.
  11. I've only had to do it once, and I didn't get an opportunity to try different positions before hand. So, I ended up using my magazine as a monopod and resting the handguard on the peak. I'm not sure if this particular rooftop would be conducive to hanging the magazine over (using a 30rnd or larger) because I think the rifle would end up being too high (this rooftop had a partial "other side"). I did end up sliding backwards while trying to get in position, but it wasn't a problem once I got prone. Paused video still: Video of the stage (starting at the rooftop position): https://youtu.be/JogsdTeEmn0?t=2m27s
  12. That reload at 1:12 is a DQ. You might be correct, but obviously the RO didn't see it that way. I think the only time I came close to (if not actually) breaking the 180 was when I tipped the revolver nearly vertical. I will say that the wide angle of the camera can distort things a bit and it does stick off my forehead a couple inches. For example, it sometimes looks like I point the gun almost at my head when I perform semi-auto reloads; however, in reality, it's not even close. Regardless, this is certainly a learning opportunity. Sorry, OP. Didn't mean to cause a derail.
  13. Congrats! You definitely made the right choice. Setting up the dies on a progressive takes a little time and patience, but it's well worth it.
  14. Another vote for UpLula. Never had any sort of trouble with it.
  15. I'm not big on revolvers, but I owned a 625 JM for a short while and shot a match with it. https://youtu.be/Aksq4qms7uw I loved the gun and it is very well suited to the ESR (or whatever the equivalent is within REV now) division. I learned very quickly that it takes a lot of practice to become good with a revolver. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I gave it a shot, but ultimately I went back to bottom feeding.
  16. The 75 Pre B does not have a firing pin block, whereas the 75B does. I believe you'll have to have a gunsmith mill the slide if you ever want to change the front sight on the Pre B. The Pre B safety detent is very different from the 75B (be prepared to spend a while re-assembling the Pre B safety if you ever take it apart, it can be a royal pain). A lot of internal parts should work, but you might need a Cajun Gun Works sear spacer if you use a 75B sear. It's been a while since I owned a Pre B, and I wasn't as familiar with CZ's then as I am now, so I can't remember much else.
  17. Looks like a good piece of gear. I love my 650, but my LCT come's in handy for smaller quantity calibers. I might have to pick one of these up.
  18. I agree with the CZ comments above. A 75B is a decent platform, but I would go ahead and spring for a 75 Shadow. You can go with an SP-01 (normal, or Shadow version), but you won't be able to add a magwell if you decided to move to ESP. With a 75 Shadow, you can shoot SSP or ESP, plus you'll have a great trigger, FO sights and 3 mags right out of the box, all for around or under $850 OTD. http://oakhillguns.com/pistol/cz-usa/cz-75-shadow-9mm-custom-shop-sa-da-91705.html Edit: Forgot to add that it comes with an extended safety and mag release, plus it has the capability of adding a stainless steel guide rod.
  19. I recommend a Savage FV-SR fir a threaded bolt gun. Slap on a decent scope, drop it in a Boyd's Tacticool Stock and you've got a fine 22lr. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  20. I was thinking about electronic muffs, but hey, whatever works!
  21. I agree. Put on your eye and ear pro, setup realistic stages, use a timer, etc. Make it just like a match, except dry fire only. Try going full speed and calling your shots.
  22. I won my first IDPA match about a month ago. I won the rifle side match as well. Now I just started shooting USPSA....lots of bad habits to remedy before I'll be in the running for a match win.
  23. I never even considered that. Thanks for the idea! It turns out that I'll probably be buying a .40 S&W barrel after all.
  24. Thanks for the confirmation! This will be my only 10mm/.40 firearm, so I don't have a problem loading the rounds long. The more I think about it, I'm even considering just using as-is in 10mm for USPSA and just loading the rounds down to 180ish PF. Thanks again! .40 brass is a lot cheaper then 10mm. just saying Definitely! But I can buy a lot of 10mm brass for the cost of the barrel. I'll probably start out shooting some 10mm in it to make sure I like it. If I do, then I'll pony up for a .40 barrel.
