I bought 18 linear feet of that butcher block countertop for a little over $500, if I recall correctly. A local salvage/import place had it for a much better price than anyone else. By the time I added up how much time and effort it would take me to make a solid benchtop myself, I just made sense to buy it.

I don't know if they actually do anything. The echo-ness of the room has gone down quite a bit since I added more shelving and since it's currently filled with boxes.

The combination of a quality (tunable) comp, adjustable gas block, low mass carrier, and the JP SCS buffer system (with lightest weight spring) is the best combination I've found. Especially if you use a rifle length gas system.

This. Check the breech face after a while to make sure it doesn't show any signs of gas cutting, but it shouldn't with 9 major pressure.

I like the way the Bigmouth magwell feels like it kinda cramps my hand and pushes it up into a really tight grip, but I feel like some of the other options reload smoother. The angle at the bottom of the magwell is a little shallow, compared to others.

Did you actually read the thread, or are you just trying to get to 50 posts so you can sell something?

The Dillon sizing/decapping dies also do a good job of punching the primers free of the primer pockets (especially if you bevel the end of the decapping pin). I've had some problem with other brand decapping dies not pushing the primer far enough down to clear the case. On the note of the e-clips. Do yourself a favor and pick up a handful when you get some from the hardware store. I tend to break one every 8-10K rounds.

My preference was to remove material from the magwell, but it was much easier to grind down a few of the "nubs" at the bottom of of the grip. I forgot to take close-up shots after I was done.

My old bench had 2 layers of 3/4" pine plywood laminated together. I found it a little soft at times, so I planned on doing the same thing with a piece of hardwood lauan on top this time. That is, until I priced everything and thought about all the time it would take to laminate and cut, so I just bought some Acacia butcher block from a local "salvage" store.

Definitely. Mark 7 has been very helpful throughout the process, it's just been drawn out because of having to figure out exactly what I'm missing and who's going to pay for it.

Well, I've got the Mark 7, it just didn't come with all the necessary parts. I bought it from a retailer (not directly from Mark 7) and I'm pretty sure it was previously bought and returned, so I've spent the last week talking to both the retailer and Mark 7 trying to sort out the best way to get those missing parts. I'm actually expecting to get an email with a solution at any time.

I agree with all of that. One thing that surprised me about the Limcat grip was how thin it felt, side to side. It almost felt like a mag wouldn't fit inside it. I really like the aggressiveness of the PT Evo, but I didn't feel like the Limcat grip was lacking grip at all.

I'm a member of 2 ranges. One is a small 25yd pistol range about 20 minutes away, run by the local FOP, for $50/year. The other is a USPSA range that's 1hr 15min away, for $100/year. The USPSA range typically more than pays for itself since it offers a $10 discount at matches.
