  1. Need some 1911 work done for a friend who just picked one up
  2. Anyone know of a really good gunsmith in dallas? I'm not there to help her so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  3. My deltapoint is back at leupold since it hasnt been holding zero.
  4. All I use is my girlfriends barrel as she has a 40-9 conversion barrel which is very tight. If it fits in that barrel it fits in every other 9mm gun barrel in the house. If it doesn't fit in that barrel they still typically fit in every other gun in the house. I found that using the lee factory crimp die does a much better job than that Dillon die could ever do. If you're still using the Dillon die then you're going to have a bad time.
  5. The one I got was from a tuned 2011 using an svi mag. I dropped it out of his gun and loaded some ammo in it and seated the magazine in my gun. It seated fine but would not allow the gun to chamber a round. There was a little play in the magazine up and down. Not sure if it was just that specific magazine or what.
  6. I can vouch that the svi magazines do not work in the gun. I hav yet to find an sti mag that someone would let me borrow
  7. Hey guys just bought the rock island 51679 (9mm only) and was wondering if someone could tell me what magazine extensions are known to fit and work. I saw that Greg Cote sells the p18 mags for 22 and Rock Island sells the stock one for 40. I figure maybe I could get an extension that adds capacity for around the +/- $40 mark. Can anyone give some insight on what they are using?
  8. I had two squibs out of my first 100 rounds that I ever made on my 650. I haven't ever seen nor heard of a squib and thank god someone experienced was with me at the range and knew what was happening. Both times we went to the ro station and got it cleared. I havent made a squib since then.
  9. I do this at my matches and luckily no one says anything to me about it. Its bad enough my mags have to hit the dirt let alone a round
  10. I would have to say I am a geek however the more gun crap that I buy I feel myself going to the "red" side
  11. So are there some mags that for certain work with 51679? If they have basepads or not does not matter all that much to me. For now anything that holds 17 rounds in multiple mags works.
  12. Thanks a lot I have one similar but not to this depth
  13. I am learning as I go but I have been told a 115 or 124 grain bullet with a slower burning powder is the way to work the comp. Here is a link to the powder burn rate chart that will help you. https://www.hodgdon.com/burn-rate.html
  14. Hey guys got another question for you. A long time ago I bought a kkm barrel with comp #G34B1C and wasnt reloading at the time. I am looking more and more into open class but wanted to know some of your load data in regards to keeping the gun flat. I have accurate no 7, and autocomp to work with. I have titegroup, wst, 231, and titewad to work with but I heard slower powders will work with the compensator to keep muzzle flip down. I was wondering if you guys could suggest any load data to start with using a 124gr or 115 grain bullet. It really doesnt matter the power factor as I am not trying to make major or anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  15. But will it be as good as a comp?
  16. Hey guys my first post here, I have been reading up a lot on here but have a question in regards to my 9L that you might be able to help me answer. I have been working on converting my 9L slowly to open gun just to shoot open steel. I saw some people quadra port their guns and others will add a comp to the end of the barrel. If you were shooting JUST steel and wanted something with low recoil to jump into open with what would be the best way to go? I thought the magnaport would be nice to have as I wouldn't be adding anymore length to my gun but didn't know if an actual comp would be better with recoil. Any help is greatly appreciated.
