Yes Shadow 1 grips fit shadow 2's, however S2 grips will not fit S1s

Ben Stoeger proshop posted something earlier in the week about just receiving a new shipment of tanfos. Id give them a try.

any chance some of these grip designs will be available for small frames?

I really see no point in the Xtreme Models if you shoot USPSA. The PD parts are producing much better results than the Xtreme parts. Given the price point in the US for a new S2/3 you could put PD parts into a new gun for less than an Xtreme. If you shoot IPSC then thats a different story.

There are guys at PPLA with both guns. The Shooting community is generally very friendly. Ask them for a shot and its more than likely they will let you have a go. Both the guns you have mentioned are great, I would lean towards the S2 as other than changing the main spring to something lighter there is really nothing that "needs" to be done. It is competitive in stock form and is cheaper than the orange S1. Don’t be afraid to try other brands. I set out to by a shadow as my first pistol, I now have 4 Tanfoglios lol. Some guns just “feel” better for some shooters.

Patriot Defence are making parts that fix a lot the issues associated with Tanfoglios. If only they could be officially affiliated with Tanfoglio and make the parts IPSC production legal. There would be a lot of people throwing out their Xtreme parts lol

Its a combination of a few factors for me. Yes I the Stock 2 certainly points better and is better balanced for me. I find the bull barrel to be a big advantage. Once you get past 20m the stock 2 is more accurate by a decent margin. I attribute that to the lock up of the bull barrel. Also as the slide weighs less (due to the bull barrel) I find it easier to shoot the Stock 2 faster, particularly weak hand strong hand.

The price point in Australia is a bit different. The Shadow 2 is retailing for $1550 with 2 mags, the Stock 2 Xtreme $2000 (4 mags), Stock 2 X $2800. (normal Stock 2s have not been imported for some years). I have shot Aus versions of the stock 2 for a few years. I like the gun even if im restricted to IPSC legal parts. Even so with a bit of work and the Xtreme parts you can get an decent trigger in a Tanfo, not as nice as a CZ but still ok. I have bought and since sold my Shadow 2. It is a very nice gun and runs very well out of the box, but i have found a properly worked Tanfo to be more to my liking. Given what has been discussed on this thread re price points on the two guns in the US, I would be buying a New Stock 2 and fitting it with Patriot Defence parts. I think that’s the way to go. However in Australia I recommend buying the Shadow 2 as it is signifcantly cheaper and really needs no real work. My 2cents

The Aussie distrubutor is a nice guy but the led time on parts and guns is a pain to deal with.

I prefer the hard chrome version. It’s harder wearing and looks better IMO. The X parts can be easily fitted to a Standard Stock 2. Plus if you shoot USPSA you have the benefit of fitting the Patriot Defence optimised parts, which are better than the X parts anyway. However if you are like me and shoot IPSC you are limited to using the X parts

1800 is for brass processing only on the 650. At the 1400 setting with index and proper dwell setting to make it run smooth you are looking at around 1000rph. In reality thats probably plenty quick. My hand press i can crank out near that an hour but i have to stop to refill primers, brass etc, The 650 with a Mark 7 its possible to just feed components as you go. Plus your arm doesnt get tired. If money isnt an issue id go the 1050, its a better set up for only a bit more money. Makes comming across crimped brass a lot easier. It will run with less stoppages as a result.

Main spring i believe was 15lbs. Recoil i think was a 14lbs (not a 100% sure however). I changed them to a 13lbs main spring and 10lbs recoil spriong pretty much straight away. The 13 with stock parts lights SnB and Winchester primers 100% thus far.

Never broken a slide stop in my tanfos. Have broken a few trigger springs in my dry fire gun however. That being said it gets well used and I dont change the spring untill it breaks.

Be a few days unfortunately as im back home for Christmas. Mine won’t be the best to compare as my stock 2 is an AUS version (ie 5inch barrel) so the Shadow 2 and stock 2 are the same length. Differences are really the grip. The Stock 2 feels more square with the extreme grips. The Shadow 2 to me feels more rounded. Only other obvious difference (other than the aesthetics) to me it the weight. The shadow 2 is noticeably heavier. Some people like that others don’t.

I have a Stock 2 Aus and Shadow 2. Both are plenty accurate for Practical shooting sports. The Tanfo however is more accurate out of my two. At 20 yards benched the Tanfo holds a group on of an 1-1.5inchs, the Shadow 2, 2-3inches.

For me because there is less mass on A stock 2 slide I pick the sights up a little faster than the Shadow 2. This becomes really noticeable shooting weak hand strong hand. Tanfo is a little better in the hand for me and is a little more accurate. Im used to the tanfo and dont shoot the CZ better so I see no reason to change. Cz still a great gun for the $$ however.

I own a Stock 2 Aus with all the extreme mods and a shadow 2 also. In short if you shoot USPSA get a stock 2 and put the Patriot Defence parts in and you will end up with basically the best production gun you can get. If you are shooting IPSC you will struggle to get a Stock 2's trigger as nice as a CZ Shadow 2. However you can still get a decent trigger. I shoot IPSC and will be sticking with the Tanfo over the Shadow 2.

Magwell is basically the same as the Stock2/3... to the point where I really cant tell what gun im reloading as it feels and loads almost the same

I will post a review contrasting the Shadow 2 against my Tanfo Stock 2 Aus in the coming days. I just want a bit more time behind the Shadow 2 and to play with the set up re recoil springs etc. In short however it’s one of the best non custom guns I have ever shot out of the box, especially considering the price point. Considering I have north of $1000 more into my Stock 2, it’s hard to go wrong with the Shadow 2.

We are limited to 10 rounds here in AUS. One of the importers had an issue with Customs bringing in the Full size indented magazines. As such CZs and Tanfos come with these style of bases here. You can still get the fullsize versions that take the base pads they are just less common.

The Shadow 1 main springs and firing pin springs drop straight in. The Shadow 2 I tested at the nationals was pulling at 8.5 in DA and 3 in SA. This was with stock springs and a new gun. I dont see why the trigger weights achieved with the Shadow 1 could not be replicated with the Shadow 2 with the correct springs/ polish job.

Yes I did. They were great to deal with. $1,700 with 4 mags posted to my local dealer.

Like most of you I have been following the media hype around the Shadow 2. I was fortunate enough to test fire one at the Australian IPSC Nationals in March and thought it was a great gun, especially given the price point. The first Shadow 2’s were released in Australia a week or so ago (all urban grey), with my understanding that all had been presold. Seems a few people have elected to wait for the “blue grip” version. So a few went out to dealers. Despite owning a very nice Tanfo Aus Stock 2, I saw a dealer had them "instock" and couldn’t resist. Now awaiting the paperwork to clear so I can pick it up. Be interested to see how this compares to the Stock 2.
