Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. This was something that I couldn’t find much on when I was looking for options for a red dot mount for my own TS2 so I figured it may be worth sharing here for anyone else who goes looking. The TS2 is not optics ready and it is not drilled and tapped anywhere for any additional options such as a red dot mount or sight so the only real option (without drilling and tapping holes somewhere) is to remove the rear sight and use a dovetail red dot mount. With my eyes I can no longer be competitive with the open sights so removing them is no issue for me, if I loose battery power in the red dot and need the option of being able to "co-witness” with the open sights I’ve already lost the competition. The best option that I found (for me) is the Toni System dovetail mount and, as they are on back order with the Australian supplier, I ended up buying it through these guys below and the international delivery was less than two weeks: https://www.sportshooter.de/en/toni_system_red_dot_dovetail_base_plate_for_cz_tactical_sport-65751.html I’m using a Leupold Delta Point Pro red dot which I have on a number of other competition pistols and which I am quite a fan of. Fitting was straightforward, perhaps the hardest part was drifting out the existing rear sight with a bronze punch - it was a very snug fit. Included in the package with the mount: the pins in the three bags in the foreground are simply drop in locator pins suitable for the various types of red dot sights that have a recess in them for such. The card to the top right of the pic has very basic instructions on the reverse sides showing which locator pin holes and screw holes to use for each red dot type. The result - compact and sturdy, not as low as the likes of an optics ready CZ Shadow but with base of the red dot at 3mm above the slide it is as low as any of my other red dot sights so I’m very comfortable with it.
  2. My apologies if these have been asked multiple times but so far I’ve not had much luck finding discussions specific to the TS2 Deep Bronze and these issues: I’m interested to know what sort of competition holsters anyone may have found to suit the TS2 Deep Bronze, ie allowing for the thumb rest particular to that configuration. Also, (being a right handed shooter) is it possible to swap the flat safety lever on the right side of the ambidextrous safety for a wide lever rather than buying a complete new unit like the one available here https://www.ericgrauffelonlineshop.com/en/cz-shadow-2-orange/1155-cz-safety-ambidextrous-large-custom--9384045005475.html ? I have a Tanfoglio Gold Match Extreme (in 38 Super) with that configuration and find it really easy to engage the safety with my right index finger using the wide lever that it has on the right side matching the left side. For what it’s worth I’ll be shooting mostly Steel Challenge and Action Match competitions with it.
  3. Wondering if anyone has yet seen anyone producing an extended thumb safety lever for the Model41, specifically for use in holstered competition shooting? The tiny, uncomfortable and tinny little safety lever on the M41 has always been a bit of a nuisance so I’d have thought that by now someone would have come up with an after market extended safety lever but I’ve not been able to find one.
  4. He is indeed! I buy my Dillon reloading gear directly through him as well, always very helpful and accomodating.
  5. So.......8 months later and still waiting for the Tanfoglio delivery, but am told that it is now imminent....nothing quite like building the expectation is there!!?? Now that it’s so close, I’m thinking I may just spend the extra $$ and go for the Extreme....
  6. N I'm looking at something to shoot Action Match - I'm currently shooting it with a S&W 686 (though not in any serious competition) and I'd originally planned to buy a Gold Match to give me the option to shoot Production with the intention of later building it up to shoot Open - ......or perhaps buy a second one when I can better afford it ..... Though if the right second hand Tanfoglio came up I'd be happy to just go straight to Open if it was fitted up and keep using the 686 for production.
  7. Thanks for the comment gunnit, I'm getting the feeling that I may be better off giving this one a miss and waiting for the new ones to come in around Oct/Nov (and then renew the debate with myself between a Gold Match and a Limited Custom...... ).
  8. I'll save you the trouble - it pretty much means "dopey newbie"
  9. Thanks Jase, very much appreciated mate cheers Greg
  10. Or what other name would it go by? I'm looking at an add' for a second hand Tanfoglio in .38 Super with the model listed as "GKV12", however I can't find anything on the web using that model to find out more information on it, how old it might be, what should be in the fitup and whether the price that they have on it is fair. It is listed at 3k in Oz dollars, comes with 5 mags, slide racker and C-more sight. I'm quite new to Tanfoglio so I'm aware that this may be a bit of a numpty question, but is anyone here able to recognise this by the GKV12 moniker or by the photo and so provide me with some more information or with a name to search and read up on? It "looks" like a Limited Custom HC to me, with compensator fitted, but I just don't know enough about them to tell them apart nor whether some have the same external appearance but different fitup's to designate them as different models...?? The shop that is selling it isn't able to tell me any more than that model number, has no idea of the age or usage but advises that it presents "as new":
  11. Thanks Pete and BB (and yes, I do have the .38 super on the way Pete). That's pretty much what I've got in mind, to shoot the Gold Match as a production pistol and eventually, when I can afford it, have a custom gun built up for open comp. Meanwhile my PTA has come through so I'm just waiting on delivery of the gun and on some new dies and changeover kit for my Dillon to start working up some loads in preparation.
  12. I've handled a new Gold Match Extreme in production version and fired the standard Gold Match in modified version for open class (owned by a club member).
  13. Perhaps it's because I'm a newby, or perhaps because these aren't available under the same name in the US (?), but I am a little surprised at the deafening silence on this question....... Regardless, and for what t's worth, being an impatient sort I've gone ahead and ordered the standard Tanfoglio Gold Match, rather than the Gold Match Extreme - as much as I'm sure the "extreme" products are a bit more special - I just can't justify the extra $$$
