Baltimore Area USPSA Matches
swearengen replied to deerassassin22's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Here is a list of USPSA clubs within 2.5 hours of Baltimore https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=191107 Not on that list are Quantico and NRA range matches -
Odd, the factory fp spring shouldn't have any issue.I think he manually pushed it in too far, while trying to install it. Not a cycle issue, if I read OP correctly. Yeah that's what happened

All stock springs except for a Wolff 13# hammer spring

Thank you johnbu! That took care of it

I just finished installing the Henning Gen 4 firing pin in my Stock II but it appears I messed up along the way. The tip of the firing pin is stuck about an 1/8" through the breach face. I can push the pin further forward through the breach face but can't push it rearward at all. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Any advice on fixing the issue? I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Greetings from the Peoples Republik of Maryland

Welcome from a fellow Marylander! -
Why should USPSA do that? New shooters will not be competitive in general no matter what the rules are (unless they are some sort of phenom but then shooting more alphas will not be a problem for that person) . Minor already has the advantage of a few more rounds and less recoil.

It didn't work well for me. Was getting 5-6 light strikes a match.

Using range pickup brass - Do you sort? Exclude some? Precautions?
swearengen replied to LeviSS's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
I pick out any steel or aluminum cases then tumble all the brass cases together After I tumble I sort out any pieces with crimped primer pockets, stepped brass (Ammoland, IMT, FM), Tula, and Aguila and separate them whatever is left I load -
Do you shoot comps when in bad weather?
swearengen replied to Sandbagger123's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Sure do. I shot probably 4 or 5 matches while it was snowing or with snow on the ground this winter. Lots of sub-freezing matches, quite a few rainy matches as well. Boy this was a fun winter in MD. -
I tried using Blue Dot for 9 minor and it was a disaster. Didn't reliably work the slide until like 150pf and was dirty as hell. Power Pistol was flashy and snappy but atleast ran the gun reliably at minor pf. I'm sticking to the faster powders.

200 mile one way one day match. Drive there same day
swearengen replied to Sandbagger123's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
I'm driving about 550 miles round trip tomorrow for a match. I guess I'll see how it goes. -
^^ It doesn't work like that. "9.5.1 A shooter's highest and lowest Classification in a semi-auto division can only differ by one Classification level." So if you are a MA in SSP you start at EX in ESP.

I'm using 4.0gr of Tite Group under an Xtreme 124gr RN at 1.135" in a Glock 34.

Hello from another Marylander. Do you shoot IDPA at AAFG?
-
Just got to try out my BOSS holster in a match this weekend and I've got to say it rocked. Super rigid and secure. Much better than the Comptac International I used previously.

Joe Bob's outfitters
swearengen replied to tnorman's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
I've used them a few times. Never a problem and quick shipping. -
I used it for a bit last year for 9mm minor. Very flashy and a bit dirty but it was better than nothing at the time. It started to improve when I tried some hotter loads.
-
I believe all the USPSA clubs in MD are shut down for winter. There is an IDPA and multigun match in PA and a steel match in NJ. https://sites.google.com/site/midatlanticshootingsports/
