  1. "Honey, it followed me home from the gun store, can we keep it?" lol. Hunter trigger. Do all the "usual" polishing tricks. Go heavy on polishing the plunger (trigger bar lifter). Get all the zipper feel out. Use Patriot Defense trigger spring, sear spring and 15.5 hammer spring. Pay attention to polishing the holes / pins too. You will be pretty dang happy with just that. Note, you wont impact pull force much by going any lower than the 15.5# on the hammer spring.
  2. Deeper undercut beaver tail allows for a slightly higher grip and better leverage. The "grip size" is essentially identical exterior. @Avenida , would you put up some photos measurements showing large and small dimensions? (Thanks)
  3. Good news my friend! Maybe if IFG is allowed long barrel stock 2, i'll find out.
  4. Actually, a Facebook friend went to the tanfo armorers course in Italy. The sear /hammer combination is key to a crisp and light trigger. He also informed me of the FOUR (4!) different one piece sears. Only 2 of which are seen here.
  5. Details on small and large in the link
  6. Correct me if this is wrong, but i thought the tanfo small and large frame have nearly identical external grip dimensions. only the interior dimensions were changed (and slide ) for the longer rounds
  7. My understanding of the dynamics of ignition and it's impact on the primer is this; Firing pin hits the primer. If the primer doesn't move, the firing pin dimples the brass and crushes the chemical between the anvil (that 3 legged deal in the primer) and the dimple. IF the primer moves when struck, some dimpling energy is "lost" in moving it down and it may go click, it may go bang. All depends on how much energy is left over to dimple the brass and crush the chemical. If you load just a primer (no powder, no bullet) and fire it in the gun, the primer will be sticking out 20-50 thousandths. The explosive energy of the chemical in the primer goes into the flash hole, but there is more area at the bottom of the primer pocket than the hole. The pressure there, pushes the primer out. But but but... they aren't pushed out all the time, what gives? Well, when the gunpowder ignites, it pushes the case back against the breech face. Normal load pressures and burn rates just push the primer body back flush. (ever notice your 0.008" deep primers are flush after firing?) If you have a "hot" load with top of range pressure or higher, like using clays, it slams back with more energy and the case hits the breech face hard enough to flatten the primer shoulder or even cause the brass to flow into the firing pin hole slightly. Heck, i've seen 9mm major rounds that hit so hard the head case stamping is flattened to the point it vanished. So, if you reduce the available energy in the firing pin to get that nice light DA trigger that even an arthritic geezer like me can work, you have to make sure very little energy is lost. Smooth firing pin channel, smooth hammer sides, smooth hammer spring and pocket, smooth firing pin, smooth smooth smooth everything. AND the primer itself has to not waste energy by moving when struck. Primer not fully seated is the leading cause of "light strikes" and it is also the last place most people expect. Especially those coming from striker fired guns with gobs of energy (right MemphisMechanic ? lol).
  8. Did the hi-point sponsor money finally come in? Time will tell! (No, i don't know anything, yes it's a joke)
  9. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Grips-for-EAA-Tanfoglio-Witness-Elite-Stock-II-and-Stock-III-Black-/222768389034?nav=SEARCH Found them. cheap enough.
  10. Buy the henning spring. He's a smart dude, trust him. Still, 10, 10.7 or 12 , that difference shouldn't beat your gun up. Opinion warning; A-D or A-M on pf switch may have more to do with the you than the spring. Reflexes tuned for minor need to be adjusted to major. when i fool w major, i either take more time on the sights and grip harder or drop points like a drunk juggler falling down steps. My internal sync goes out when recoil moves the gun just a bit more. Dunno if that's happening to you, just a thought.
  11. When i said "under" i meant as an optimal range toy. The hunter IS a limited with long slide/barrel. The fact it costs less... a bonus! If i was buying a 45acp to have all my buddies marvelling at me hitting the 100 yd gong at will .... it would be the hunter.
  12. The hunter is the top notch choice. Period. End of story. A limited would be under it. The match next. I would rule out the std witness for a range toy. It's just not in the same class as the others.
  13. I think Springer used to make a weld on one, but hadn't in a while.
  14. Separate group is my understanding. and my feeling is that there is some animosity between them.
  15. What you will find is the cz platform is (often) prefered for people with small hands. They are physically smaller. Paradoxically, with my hands i can drop the Tanfo mag without a regrip, but not the cz. I'm 6'1 and have xl gloves. The "Stock 1" from IFG (not EAA) is also a very good option. They (IFG) are also working to bring back the lim pro and one other model that eaa doesn't import. My buddy, Memphismechanic, has some good points on the tuning and expectations. However ... some guns just work better than another and can make a difference. i don't shoot glocks well but they still are good guns. And i have time to play with tuning, so messing w Tanfo was enjoyable. And the trigger of a well sorted one is just great. Around here there are loads of tanfos at local matches. ask around, most guys are happy to share a few shots.
  16. Obviously, a barber. He was multi-tasking and shooting while clipping someone's hair.
  17. But, just like tanfos, with work they get light.
  18. Ok, i emailed IFG about importing some of the Tanfoglio models EAA fails to bring over. Things like the Stock 2 L with 4.93" barrel, the Domina for open, etc. If you want to help IFG get the green light to bring them over, contact Tanfoglio in Italy and tell them! (I did) info@tanfoglio.it Send them a nice polite email and let them know we are hungry for new stuff!
  19. Sounds like you have it well sorted out and ready for the 2018 season!
  20. Oh, one point. Limiteds have pretty heavy tops and (imho) overly strong recoil springs. you will want to experiment to get the load/spring combination that runs flatest. I video bill drill from the side and watch how flat it runs. And light springs help get that! i run 6# in the s2 (132pf 135gr bullets, tightgroup). But polishing the rails may be needed to slick them up enough to use light springs. Just a thought!
  21. Plunk, thunk, spin and dump. Make sure to keeo the ogive off the rifling. Tanfos are short throated.
