    Glock MOS

Yup. Dawson on my G19 MOS. Just make sure to buy the MOS flavor....I made that mistake and had to return the first set - https://dawsonprecision.com/sights/sights-for-glock/dawson-fixed-sight-sets/mos/
  3. Step 0A and 0B before I even shoot a new glock nowday...replace the trigger then put on FO sights
  4. Houston's a big area! What side of town?
  5. I chrono my 14.5" Larue Costa everytime we go to the range together. While I don't shoot 55gr, I get about 2400 fps out of my 73gr berger load
  6. Go get yourself a wet tumbling setup from HF http://www.harborfreight.com/dual-drum-rotary-rock-tumbler-67632.html
  7. Currently have about 6 different AR triggers installed...Personal favorite is the Hiperfire 24C.
  8. I bought some SportEars and I have to say it's one of the best investments I've ever made. Prior to this, I had used both the Peltor in-ear and the Sordin's (still have the sordins). Go to Sam's club and they'll mold you for free. Send it in...wait a few weeks...then win. It's honestly incredible the comfort and protection that you get. Maybe the best reason to pick SportEars is that they offer an unconditional warranty for another $200 or so. Seems like alot until you realize it covers loss....and while I haven't lost them yet, I can see how easy it would be to misplace one.
  9. Agree. I bought a few before I settled on the Double Alpha.
  10. Looks good. Didn't even realize swaro had a 1-8. I like...but I hesitate to ask the price...
  11. Why look for something besides a p-mag? It's likely that hex-mags, et al are comparable....but nothing is going to be "better". So just pickup some p-mags and move on, imho.
  12. Welcome. Tomball here. When I first got started I went to youtube....literally hours spent there watching different videos. Books are good, but nothing is like watching someone explain the process.
  13. I have some Tite Group, Bullseye, and WST. (Just found the TG the other day and snatched up two 4 pounders)
  14. What pound springs should I pickup to shoot minor loads?
  15. Thanks guys. This is confirming a lot of what I was thinking. Bought the gun. Should have it in hand in a few days. The cost of a new redding dies, Dillon 650 .40 conversion, brass, and bullets is a little daunting....but I ordered it all as well. It's like a bandaid...I just started pulling and didn't slow down. Would you guys mind sharing what 40 minor load you would suggest as a starting point for IDPA. Especially those of you with an STI. My Google-Fu is strong and I've found a lot of data out there....maybe too much....so what works well in a 5" STI in IDPA? Same question for a USPSA major load...? And can someone enlighten me on the theory behind bullet weight and loading for major versus minor? Do I want a 180 gr bullet for IDPA if I'm not pushing steel? Or would a 155 serve me better here? I'm looking for the fastest followup shots with the least amount of muzzle flip. Thanks in advance. I consider myself and knowledgeable and experienced reloader, but I've never dabbled in this arena...so it's new territory for me.
  16. Not sure what you mean by "dinging you for using your STI" in major matches? Is there a penalty for shooting an STI somewhere? I just shoot at the local club… Nothing major. If you're asking me if they are not letting me use my STI tactical, then the answer is no they are not. It's not only the full length dustcover, but it also has a bull barrel. So that's two strikes against it…
  17. Thanks Pat, but the Marauder is a double stack. It arrives weighing 36 oz. This change your thoughts?
  18. Every pistol I own is a 45. Not because that's the best caliber, but I always wanted to keep it consistent for reloading and shooting between guns. I've also never competed until recently. Recently I've started getting into IDPA, but I don't really have a good gun to "compete" like I would like. My two favorite 45s are my Ed Brown Kobra Carry (small mags) and my STI Tactical 5.0 DS (full length dust cover means I can't use it in IDPA). Initially, I was looking at just getting a Glock 34 or M&P Pro to compete in SSP...but I think ESP fits me better as I prefer a 1911 platform. So I narrowed my search down to the STI Marauder 9mm. I like the Marauder in particular due to the light rail and its compatibility with IDPA ESP out of the box. The light rail could be nice if I ever get into 3 gun. But now I'm thinking that I may want to dip the toe in USPSA...so I started looking at .40 options and found that Shooter's Connection offers a limited edition of the Marauder in 40 for $200 less than even the regular Marauder. They only have 2 left and, of course, will never offer them again since they don't deal with STI anymore. My only concern is adding recoil compared to the 9mm option since it will be primarily an IDPA pistol. But since I reload...I seem to be reading that I can load a 40 for similar recoil to the 9. True? How close can you really get a 40 to feel like a 9 if you reload for both...? So how's my line of thinking here...am I off base? $2000 gets me a good "gamer" gun for IDPA ESP and allows me to compete in major USPSA should I ever want to. Thoughts? Anything else I should consider here?
  19. I think this is just a rebranded GemPro
  20. I love my Chargemaster combo, but over the past several months I've been tossing around the idea of going to a high precision scale with an Omega Trickler. My budget is always dynamic, but I'd like to stay south of $600ish. The further south, the better (just like in real life ) I like to think that my Google-Fu is strong, and I've come across several options...........all of which are discontinued. All of them. For example... The Denver Instrument MXX-123 is a strong option that sold for $275 before being discontinued. They now go for $429 on ebay... Actually....Denver Instruments had several options...until they were bought by Sartorious and they went away. Okay, how about the Sartorius AY123 for $333? Discontinued. I even considered the Sartorius GD503, which could be found around $800....discontinued. So what's left? Well if you contact Sartorious....everything above has now been replaced by one model, the Sartorious ENTRIS64-1S. A $1575 retail MSRP scale that can be found for the low price of $1014 online. Really? Is that it? And for those of you who are going to recommend the GemPro 250...I'm not a fan. Yes, the box says it is accurate to 0.02...but from everything I've seen on it, that doesn't appear to be true. The GemPro also appears to be the same scale offered by Brian Enos...just with different paint. As an example of why I don't think this scale is worth it can be seen in this video at 5:18. Here's what happens for those that don't like to click. He trickles up to 23.22. He then lifts the pan and sets it back down...now it reads 23.26 He lifts the pan again and sets it back down...now it reads 23.28 He then uses tweezers to add a single kernel...still 23.28...lifts the scale and sets it back down...still reads 23.28 He adds a kernel...still reads 23.28....lifts and sets it back down....now it reads 23.30. This kind of back and forth is absolutely not what I want. If you consider this 0.02 accuracy, then I consider my Chargemaster 0.02 accurate...I'm just proud of RCBS for not putting an extra decimal place for marketing reasons. So what am I left with? What should I buy if I'm looking for single kernel accuracy without spending over $1000? The options used to be there...just not anymore.
