  1. two aircraft that I'll always love the Blackbird and the F-14, I was attached to a F-14 squadron, that plane was amazing! but it's time has pasted. The blackbird was allways amazing, but was replaced with satalites, a pilot that I knew in guam always said I'd leak like a shif on the ground but get it in the air, and could out run ANY MISSLES that was ever fired at it, I for one miss those days.
  2. dawson is selling a tuning kit now, from his catalog.
  3. while not a gunsmithing course, Jerry Kuhnhausen published two books among others that are well worth the price, named colt 45, volume 1 and 2 they are shop manules, that cover the 45 from stem to stern, from fitting barrels to malfuctions of pistol and magazines, like I said little pricely for books but well worth the infestment if your going to work on your own pistols, brownell's sells good reliable stones, jigs and other gunsmith tools, yes you'll ruin some, unless you're a gunsmith you will. .02 worth
  4. It's always amazing how much you can learn, from master's of the art such as yourselfs
  5. yea, dirtypool, could'nt remember if the ipsc box is required in u.s. or not
  6. just one of those wild ideas, I haven't been able to shoot for two years now due to rebuilding house, and then sudden medical condition, I really enjoy shooting and when all you can do is read about and new products, sometimes my mind wonders (sometimes in the wrong dirrection) as in this case. I will be reentering shooting this year, I've allways been a springfield man or sti and have both, have classiffier matchs scheduled starting in a month, see ya at the range, thanks for the imput, mikeG.
  7. Thanks for all the input, I'm making a list and gassing up the car or the R.V., see ya'll at the range
  8. just got back from a local gun show and kinda liked the feel of the 5.7 , 20 round magazines, O.K. outside of the high cost of the brass right now, could this be powered down enough to use in limited class? and would it fit in the box? These are the ideas that kept me out of the really good schools. Hornaday make the dies, brass would come down, what do ya think? these are one's that back when they first came out, they said would never be sold to civilians, must not have been enough takers on the police and military front, good price NIB with 3-20 rd magazines.
  9. any club planning a classifier only match this spring?
  10. the u.s. military is still testing products for their new sidearm, which one of the main selling points was in 45acp, single stack and double, everyone including fn. is making double stacks for the testing, many, many dollors to be made. I have heard this is the resend that springfield keeps putting off producing the hi-cap 40 S&W in 1911 frame
  11. you would'nt go wrong with a dillion, no b.s. warranty, and excellant tech. support

  14. ok, we know clinton and the mayor of n.y.'s policy on gun laws what about the rest of them?? OK fred thompson was quoted at a gun show as liking guns. what do ya think?
  15. anybody hear when the area 4 match will be this year, went a few years ago , good match hot as H, but good food and casino's
  16. I shoot a springfield widebody with para 14-45 mags, dawson pads, fooling around with springs and followers, I can get 18 rounds reloadable in 3 of the 6 mags, plus one in the pipe I've had grams base pad kit on order for 2 yrs. now, when he makes em I'll use them
  17. +1 on the s/a grip safety, allways worked great on my s.a. 9mm
  18. oh-my a virgin (just kidding) the first 45 I ever shoot was my dad's colt that he brought home from korean, he took me into the field and told me to shoot, it knocked me on my ass, he thought it was funny as hell, i've got that colt now with 8 others, from springfield to kimber, charles dailyto rock island, the thing is to find one that you can afford, make it reliable and shoot the hell out of it. most quality 45's are pretty good out of the box, s.a., colt, kimber, i've got a old nordic from china that is pretty good, but being from cal. you are limited to what you can have good-luck in your search.
  19. true, i've been out of the game for afew years, but i do try to keep in touch with it. I got my monthly updare from Brownells yesterday and they have a listing now for mag ext. base pad for xd's for 9mm/40, and 45acp. With a added 5 count for9, 3 for 40, and 3 for 45acp, anyone tried these yet? the 9 and 40 would prob.workout, but I think the 45 would push it over the 140 limit, anyone know?
  20. afternoon, Trying to get back in sport after 2 and half year lay off, what was the name of that club in dayton, ohio? they had winter indoor matches and clasifiers, do you have the web site? Thanks

    homeless vets

today's paper had a statement that a fourth of the homeless today are veterns, and that many are from current wars, that many return home and find their wifes gone and no job to return too. What in the hell is wrong with today's women? when I was a young man , and went to do my country's bidding, I was gone many times for long terms and short turns at home, my wife was left with a young child to raise just about on her own ( today he's major in the army), he turned out fine, and her and I are reaching our 30th wedding anniversary, I realize that a lot of them today are reserves and did'nt figure on going But You signed the papers and weather she knew it or nots she signed the papers with you. And how in the hell can so many employers get away with breaking federal law by not giving the vet his job back after his return??? . I had no job to return to and came back cold and had to retrain, their are programs both state and federal for vets, but many are not told of them by the military or the v.a., I know the horror of war, being shot at, and see childrens and country men died for what seems like no end in sight. But I returned intact many of today vet because of the way's of the terorise fight (and yes we did teach them), return with no arms, no legs and no hope. I do not now myself what I would have done I've this had happened to me, my son had two trips to lrag and one to afg. before he returns state side, and now we have something in common that we can talk over between each other, that the wife's know nothing about. Maybe that's part of the problem, most wife's donot know anything except what the media puts out, which is not the whole truth. With all the differnt org's and different progams of today's world, something can be done and must be done for the homeless veterns. thank-you for listening to mindless rambling, of a old war horse.
