  1. +2 on dillon (square deal) quick easy set-up, build a 2x4 bench or something of that nature(go to search mode and you'll plenty of examples) figure out if you want to load 200 or 230 in your 45, once fired brass is cheaper than new and works fine. you'll find plenty of loads on this forum as far as reloads, powder, primers and amounts used, tumbler for your brass and magazines. add a scale for checking your powder charge. That will not kill the bank account, plus dillon has one great warrenty, and help is just a phone call away, Happy reloading
  2. reload in house, I use one of those heavy plastic carpet guards under the reloader and my chair
  3. I NEVER give out my credit card number, they rebuilded a square deal for me a few months back, I got my number and dropped a postal money order in the box inside a envelope (it was 30.00 then), and shipped it, they returned it about 3 weeks later looking like new, I think they just made a bookkeeping error on yours, call em I'll bet they make it right
  4. +1 on dillon, best no bull shi# in reloaders, if it's broke, they fix it a 550 would handle all your reloads for 3 gun except for shotgun, but on the other hand lee doe's make a fine reloader and cost would be cheaper at the onset. Really it's more a personnal choice, welcome to the shooting world
  5. well that's a good way to get new pads, I use mine over carpet
  6. did you see them in a gun magazine or at a match
  7. did you see them in a magazine or at a match?
  8. what ever WORKS for you! everyone has their favorite toy, I've always like SA and have a sti, I just recently gotted a XDM but haven'nt had time to play with it, a regular xd40 that i have shoots great, If you like and enjoy your xd and it seems to be working for you, than shoot the heck out of it and enjoy it
  9. 4.0 clays with 230 grams
  10. I'm one of those crazy ass u.s. postal worker for past twenty years, overtime has paid for all my guns and yes sometimes my wife actually lets me go and play with them, most people at work avoid me, I wonder why?
  11. might try any local shops that carry reloading supplies
  12. If in doult , or if something just dont want to run right call dillon they can usually figure it out pretty quick and tell ya how to fix it or send ya the part to fix it, one of the best warrents I'f ever seen, and to have one rebuilt is only 30 bucks and it's returned like new

    Carlin

the death of george carlin will be felt for ever more, I saw him perform twice and about fell out of the seat several times, he was very good with words
  14. my thoughts to the letter, I asked him the other day what he knew about gun vaults and firearms, he said only what he has read, I told him he needs to keep his comment's to insurance rates, thanks all for the comments and sugestions, now the local zoning board has me on hold for the last two days waiting for the "MAN" to sign the d--- thing, I think I'll seal it with paint and just use a couple of golden rods, anyone having a better ideas I'm all ears
  15. afternoon, construction will starting on my gun vault this week as soon as the RAIN STOPS!, will have 8 inch. poured concreat walls with 1/4 inch plate steel around it, my insurance man said that ceramic tile on the walls and floor would add it's fire resistance anyone ever hear of this? Also would a golden rod or dehumidifier be better for the vault? it's going to be 8'x10' with a heavy vault door thanks for any help
  16. That's a great turnaround, but what would you expect from a great company like dillon
  17. yea about 2-3 weeks depending on how backed up they are, my only problem was I did,nt have their street address for ups so it went by usps and was returned by fedex, but for the cost of rebuilt it is money well spent as mine is just like new again
  18. morning all, the press a the auction endup being a 450 dillion, by the time it was done the press when for 300 for some reason, by the time I would have added the upgrades for a 550 would cost more than a 550 brand new , so since all I load are pistol brass, I'm going with the other square deal and set up for 40s&w, price is good, thanks for all the imput from everyone, happy shooting
  19. Very true, But anyone with a ffl could order one for ya, www.jerryssportscenter.com , one dist.pt.is outdoor sports headquaters, inc. in dayton oh. #800-444-6744, One of the quys we shoot with is a ffl dealer and orders a lot of out stuff for us, or bassmasters in town will
  20. Thanks for the great input, I think you're right 2 press is better than one. I have a 6 foot loading bench, holding off on sq.deal till monday though, gun auction saturday, and they said they had either a 550 or a 1050 dillon press (they were'nt sure on the number) I let ya know what happens
  21. one bit of good news, just got e-mail from Jerrys Sports that they have them on sale for $513.50!! of course when you add in transfer and shipping you're still close to $600
  22. I envy both of you! I'm 53 and have one son who's active capt.u.s.army, and still have NO grandchildren
  23. I have a square deal in 45 acp, and will be adding 40 this fall. I have been offered another s.d. in 40 cal for $275, would it be better to have two presses or a conversion kit with powder and just switch back and forth?
