  1. KettelBells on the Way! Say good-bye to the gut.
  2. Thanks for the history lesson Shred. I've started trying to do "some" of this suff, and I have been worshiping at the altar of pain. on the other hand, Look out this Pirate's heading for an "M" card.
  3. You're right .75 does NOT Count. If you watch the Pull-Ups video, he explains just what a pull up is and a chin to the bar counts for nothing. The entire head must be above the bar and the elbow down in line with the torso of the body. Anything short of that is a ZERO and must be done over. I like the cards idea. My problem is I absolutely HATE weight lifting. It's boring to me. Some of the ideas I really liked about this philosophy are: They use music to drive them. They constantly vary the workouts. They constantly have a challenge/competition aspect to their workouts. They don't have any fancy Equipment or machines. Most of their drills are whole body and not isolated muscle body groups. (rowing, pulling the large rope, picking up and throwing the medicne ball, etc) They go and go till they can't go no mo. I saw this one thing on the 300 reps called Knees to Elbows and wondered what it was. I clicked on the link. I hope to be able to do a few of these one day. Here's the vid link. http://www.crossfit.com/mt-archive2/001733.html
  4. Good catch Chris. Compared to that guy, it looks like a t-shit on me. But I'm inspired and challenged by this type of training. Some of this stuff is certain to improve my shooting. Right Now I can do 2.75 PULL UPS.
  5. I've been checking out the Gym Jones workouts that the actors and stunt guys used to prepare for the movie 300. This stuff's all interesting and seems seriously intense, but check out the last video on the page titled MSFU. THat's an acronym for the title of the song playing in the background and WARNING the FU part of the lyrics are "Explicit Lyrics". If that might offend you, simply turn off your sound. http://www.gymjones.com/video.php Look at about 2:10 into the clip and Mark Twight is wearing an Ancient Publishing T-shirt with the Maku Mozo on the back. What's the connection?
  6. oracle.bmpSaw it last night. I had great anticipation, waiting to see it. I know the history well and the movie lacks a great deal of accuracy, but it's a MOVIE. Not a documentary and it never claimed to be Historically accurate. It's entertainment! and pretty darn good entertainment. To all of those who'd slice it up and talk about its historical issues or demonized Persians. Get your own multi-million dollar movie deal together and make your own movie. short of that. Lay down some cash and go see it or don't. I Liked the movie, want to see it again in IMAX. Think I want one of those spears too. P.S. Anyone know where I can get one of those Oracles?
  7. NO move to 175-200grn. you'll thank us later. just softer feeling and easier to shoot. pressure to make 165 pf is within Specs. don't just switch your load from 155's to 180's. find a suggested load using your powder and back it down by 10% to start, then work up to Major PF. Good Luck
  8. That was everyone's first thought too. I weighed it against a 5" Dawson Patriot, and they were pretty darn close.
  9. These are pics of my gun in the white as a work in progress. It's a 6" STI Built and slide lightened by Neil Allen. Since these, I've sent it off to Tripp to have is finished and hard chromed. I'll try to get new pics soon.
  10. Thanks for the on-line option Wayne. I'm already registered and paid!
  11. Okay I have to give you guys some points here on the doors. Unless your using a revolving door, a door has to either open right or left and toward or away from the shooter. That does lend itself to some hand bias which is unavoidable. We can only set up what our club has in the way of props. Here's a thought, Saloon Doors! Maybe the SASS Cowboy guys would loan us some of those double swinging doors? My experience is that most doors open toward the shooter and the knob is on the right. Seems to me this is an advantage to the Left Handers.
  12. +1 on the stage design quality issue. Most stages easily altered to eliminate the issues. We have an amazingly high number of Left handed shooter down here, and they're some of our best. FreeStyle with lots of options that's the way I like it. At the end of the day, if there's a well worn path through the stage because everyone shot it the same way, the design could have been better.
  13. Best Idea is to include medical personnel as part of the Match Staff along with RO's and have them assigned no other, or very minimal, duties during the match. Proper Credentials: ie State Certificates and/or National Registry Of course, they should receive the same compensation/discounts as the RO's. I carry my kit with me everywhere I go. If I leave it behind, I'll surely need it.
  14. I load 4.4 grains of N320 under a cast lead 180grn at COL of 1.175 for my G20 with a 40S&W barrel. You'll probably load the COL a bit shorter for your gun. Start at about 4.0 for safety sake. Chrono it and work up from there.
  15. Are there actually any "rules" for a side match? or Shooting challenge? I've seen a few and heard of many strange side match shooting challenges. Everything from a simple plate rack to a 3-man team sawing a landscaping timer in half. The latter was of course done team-on-team and side-by-side. I'd love to hear other "different" shooting challenges that have been used at side matches.
  16. Thanks for the invite John. I'm gonna make it back this year after missing 2006. Great Match!!!!
  17. At the risk of sounding very Metrosexual, What's up with those boots and black suit that Callie Duqene is wearing. Is she going to be the next cat woman or am i just leting my fantasies get the best of me??
  18. I used to run a safariland 007 and I like it just fine. Still have it if you'd like to try it? PM me.
  19. I have to agree with everything you said, but CSI: Miami looks so darn good in Hi-Def that I'm gonna keep watching and hope they can do a better job getting the facts right in the future.
  20. What kind of vitamins?? I think I need some of those.
  21. I shot one of these today. It's a bit heavy for anything but supported positions. Of course, Now I Want one.
  22. +1 MaineShootah I wouldn't design/set-up a stage without a fault line and a charge at the minium safe distance. This make the call much easier for the RO. Nothing is idiot proof, but well designed stages can be idiot resistant.
