  1. I know the first thing I think of when I hear Vogel's name is his idpa prowess. Literal lol Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  2. Looks like "all those USPSA shooters" came in and filled the podium again, like usual.
  3. I use BBI for everything. It's not worth the hassle to run two different loads when my BBI load is reliable and accurate. The only difference is my match loads get extra QC and usually Fed headstamp only brass.
  4. There is absolutely no reason to delay shooting big matches provided you are safe and your equipment is reliable and is division compliant. Big matches are hugely motivating and will jumpstart your growth as a competitor. I wish I had started sooner instead of being afraid of the big match Boogeyman. The rules are all the same, scoring is the same, targets are the same. Dive in head first. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  5. Apart from transitions, which others have astutely pointed out, I noticed that you are very erect and upright in your shooting stance. Getting lower and wider by bending at the knees (and maybe a little at the waist) will improve a lot of the elements of your game. It will create a better shooting platform and allow you to explode out of position more efficiently. It will also likely aid your transitions. There is a lot of tension in your upper torso (shoulders specifically) aka the tactical turtle. Loosen up. Tension is undesirable. I recommend you start a dryfire program (or ramp it up, if you currently have one). Dry fire is THE way to improve gun handling generally and will increase your confidence in your abilities when you arrive at the match. Work on cultivating your "index" off the draw- meaning that your sights appear in alignment at the specific spot you're looking. Also work on making your grip 100% reliable and repeatable. These two elements go hand-in-hand.
  6. Is it really that difficult to explain to people what we do? We shoot guns in competition against each other to address a variety of practical shooting challenges. We are timed and graded on our accuracy in equal measure. Our best shooters are both the fastest and the most accurate. You can compete with an out of the box stock pistol or a full race gun. You can compete if you are 10 years old or 80. It's the best shooting sport in the world. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  7. Action pistol, it's like an obstacle course with guns. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  8. Will there be a larger cap on competitors for the "popular" division matches?
  9. First of all, I'm attending the match and looking forward to it, whether it remains at 9 stages or not. But I do agree that for a L2 match the stage count should be in the double digits. Somewhere in the 10-12 range. Maybe we're just spoiled here in the Southeast US, but rightly or wrongly that's where the bar has been set.
  10. Ugh, NY. Never mind then. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  11. For the love of biscuits, please don't shoot L10. Shoot Lim minor and prosper. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  12. Is there any reason why one couldn't use an open gun compensator on a PCC (provided the thread pitch is correct) and time it using a crush washer?
  13. I have read that post of yours several times and found it very helpful. Is the reason one of my considerations is to use the A5 buffer. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  14. In my experience, tg works beautifully with coated bullets. That combo is all I shoot. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  15. There is a lot of debate among AR-9 users about shortening versus lengthening the bolt travel and its effects on recoil impulse and dot bounce. A lot of people shorten travel by putting spacers in the buffer tube or using extended-length buffers (i.e. a VLTOR A5 buffer in a carbine tube). I understand some do this so as to not break mag catches. For purposes of this discussion, let's ignore LRBHO and the mag catch issue and focus solely on recoil effects. Some swear shortening the cycle returns the bolt to battery sooner and thus dampens the recoil impulse. This seems paradoxical to me, since the mass of the bolt is imparted with more energy over a shorter distance at the point the buffer bottoms out in the tube. Wouldn't that cause the felt recoil at the rear and the force of the bolt returning to battery be much greater? Would it not be desirable to make the travel distance of the bolt as long as possible to spread out the impulse and let the spring help decelerate the bolt? Interested to hear about others' experiences and maybe even some math/theory because I am no physicist.
  16. Not a lawyer, but I know how to formulate what we call an "analogy". If you are unfamiliar with that term, you can Google it and find out what it means. At the risk of further confusing you, I did find it amusing that you chose to respond to my post with a non sequitur, to wit: a classic scene from South Park which in itself depicts a famous non sequitur. Well done indeed! Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  17. You fellows wanting to achieve parity between minor and major in limited division remind me of the folks who knew the rules of the recent election going in and when they did not get the result they wanted, suddenly wanted to alter or abolish the electoral college. 18. Thank you! Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  19. Do you have a list of match wins? That data would be useful. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  20. All my glocks shoot 124 markedly better than 147. I switched exclusively to 124. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  21. I have written requesting colt extensions to: TTI, Springer, Henning, and Taylor Freelance. All but TF responded. All said no plans atm to develop them. It's baffling to me. Seems like if any one of them produced them, they'd have an emerging market cornered.
  22. Check the locking block for damage. What is your group size at 25 with the G19?
  23. I can understand that sentiment but striker spring is the biggest bang for the buck as far as trigger pull weight reduction goes. I'd go no lower than 4.5 with a stock striker. That sets off any primer. The trade-off is you need to change them every 3-5k rounds, but springs are dirt cheap. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  24. Find a load that works and don't fiddle with it. A lot of people waste a hell of a lot of time tweaking loads and playing with components when they could be training. Titegroup is cheap, always available, and just plain works. It's my one and only pistol powder. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  25. Has anyone successfully run a Hiperfire Hipertouch EDT/ EDT2/ EDT3 trigger group in a 9mm PCC? Seems like a reasonable compromise between a mil-spec LPK trigger and a high-dollar go fast trigger. What are other < $100 options I should consider?
