  1. Try a few pistols and see what models you like and feel "right" shooting..... For me, I tried the M&P and I just do not like them.... My production guns are Glock 34, Glock 17, SIG P226 Scorpian, and 1911 S&W (DK in .45 and pro in 9mm).... CZ75 I go back and forth with....
  2. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, .." For some reason once I start the stage I am obsessed with counting the rounds that I fired to make sure I did not miss any targets - count should match up with plan that I devised before starting the stage.... Maybe OCD
  3. OK... I have been reading several of the threads here and on 1911 forum and looks like a lot of folks are shooting 9mm out of 38SC barrel.... So it is up to the individual..... For me, I have STI lower and 2 complete uppers - 9mm major and .40S&W so I think I am all set for now...
  4. Infinite is also an option - several of the guys I shoot with have these..... There is also Caspian....
  5. "tunnel vision" - you are so concentrated on what needs to be done, you forget about all of the other details...
  6. OK - thanks... If I do pick up my brass I will make sure the that I have numbered as to how many times I have reloaded... scheumann barrel for the upper.... Thanks again...
  7. sevigny/warren - complete black U rear sight and green fiber optic on front...
  8. As you shoot these matches, I know to ask for help if I am not sure of something because the last thing you want to do is to get DQed..... Welcome to the addiction..
  9. Last match some guys were slipping and sliding as they transitioned around the course.... Not sure if it was the shoes or the individual but I always have pair of low top hiking boots in car for matches just in case - usually I wear indoor soccer shoes that have me flat footed and great traction.... Thoughts?
  10. We LOVE the change of seasons here is MA ;-) Just kidding - partially.... I would move where every the job takes me.... With the TOUGH gun laws here in MA, I would love to move somewhere else.....
  11. Try both and just be safe... Like everyone said, don't sweat it and you will be fine....

    CZ 75 sp-01

Just keep it... I left everything factory and my cz and works great...
  13. Also, do not point at target at IDPA to count - got yelled at for "air gunning"....
  14. Just shoot both and be safe... I shoot both USPSA and IDPA with friends and it never fails for me to get a procedural on the reloads for IDPA (According to RO, in IDPA I am not allowed to do reload on the move, EVEN IF moving behind cover...)
  15. We were complaining to the match director that there should have been "barrel bon-fires"..... Hope it is not as cold next month (December) for steel challenge at the same club ;-)
  16. New England weather here in MA.... Not complaining too much but it was uncomfortable..... Range time with good set of guys.....
  17. Gun smith just complete 9mm major upper for my 2011 STI frame...I plan on shooting 9mm major and I have LOTS of 9mm brass that I plan on reloading on a Dillon 550B.... Question, should I even consider collecting my brass after a match or should I just plan on using the once fired brass for my 9mm major gun? Constant supply of once fired 9mm brass from many friends that are still not reloading....
  18. Still recovering.... Regardless of the multiple layers of clothing, I took off jacket and gloves to shoot... The constant shaking did not help my score but now at least I have feeling back in my fingers.... Edit: - Good things still happened for mental state of mind to coordinate plan and execute even with some mishaps..... Physical body was still a little slow to react.... Training is always good...
  19. Sometimes it is amazing how we have such tunnel vision and forget about plan when something throws us off.... I am still learning and trying to keep to stage plan and round count....
  20. I also run a FLGR and Wilson combat springs tuned to my reloads... Any issues - FTF, jamming, locking back slide on last round?
  21. Welcome... Don't worry we are all getting older
  22. The stage designs have to be challenging and as to the aspect of safety, new shooters should understand the importance of "walk throughs" and asking questions.... I still remember getting "finger" word on reloads (Keep that finger out of the trigger guard while reloading) - yeap, broke that bad habit in a hurry.... At our local club on practice nights, we remind all shooters to shoot at their OWN pace and do it SAFELY (period) - speed will come.
