I am always super paranoid about that... New to the 3 gun matches but I always drop mags and rack for pistol and rifle and make sure I have safety on for shotgun - yeah I know that I am losing time but rather be in the match than DQed.... Anyway I am not that good to be in the running for top shooters...
For me, I am still shooting production (glock 34) to work on the fundamental of accuracy and then speed... I have seen guys that spend a lot of money on limited guns and just cannot keep up with the more experienced shooters in the limited division....
My boys are 9 and 11 and I coach both their soccer teams so that is a jobs for 2 nights and Saturdays - Fall and Spring seasons... Honestly I would not give it up because I know that when they get old, I will probably not see them (only if they need money or the car keys)
I personally listen to some classical music before the match but once I am geared up, no music and just concentrate on the course of fire.... Am I old fashion?
I always have a gym bag in trunk with all needed to clean just in case (always take it to all matches). Within back-pack for matches, I also carry back up production glock 34 and trauma kit in additional usual stuff
Practice on the first long pull.... When I first started shooting with the uspsa group, I used my sig p228 and practiced A LOT on the first pull....
In a match out have enough to ink about and I would be worried about safety and manually cocking the hammer - safety is never an accident.....
Just be polite in your responses.... Funny how we all want to helpful but we are all adults and just should be polite...
I have shot at matches were some of the competitors have be just a$$ to everyone and I just keep my distance and concentrate and listen to others....
Funny that this is a topic... Sunday's are my main days for shooting at the local competitions.... Mainly steel and .22 matches.... These definitely have helped in the skills but for right now I am recreational shooter by any standards...
Focus for right now has to be family and work but the safe has enough toys....
It is a balance for the individual to make... I know several guys that have same age kids as me and they are shooting 3-4 times a week and they are fine with it... For me I choose to shoot matches when I can....
Thanks... Most of the guys that I shoot with are always on this forum for information.... I am a recreational shooting with family and work keeping me busy.... Until shooting can pay the bills I guess I will have to get as much range time as I can....
Thanks again for the welcome response...
