  1. I want to try these out. My regular Rx for contact lens in my dominant eye is -1.00. What power magnification will work for mono-vision?
  2. They did let members vote on CCP vs Carry Optics...
  3. This would be a big change to the scoring. Did they not learn their lesson from the FFR? The right thing to do would be to let the members vote on it.
  4. It's goofy, but some states allow you to shoot hi cap mags if you already had them but restrict you to limits if you didn't. In those few places L10 does serve a purpose. Other than that it's just a hiding spot or worse, a division to enter if a gun or some other prize is going to the winner. We all know people who have signed up to shoot L10 at a big match because they now have 1 in 10 chance to win a gun as opposed to Limited being 1 in 60. But I still say it's a valid division for some. CO is really the only one that doesn't fit is USPSA since we are not the "carry" oriented sport. Not a good idea to eliminate L10. If Limited shooters in restricted States only have access to 10-round mags, but compete at a major matches in other States - they will be lumped in with everyone else shooting 20+ round mags. Are they supposed to buy full capacity mags for the match (out of state), have them tuned, then not be able to bring them back into their home State?
  5. I'm going to try my SP-01 barrel in my Shadow and see what the results are.
  6. Good idea. I just miked it several times. SP-01 Shadow: Left side = 0.2005 Right side = 0.192 SP-01: Left side = 0.195 Right side = 0.196 My SP-01 the sight is centered and shoots POA.
  7. I wonder if I have a barrel or rear sight issue then. My CZC competition rear sight is already moved over to the right for correct POA/POI. I would have to move it even more to shoot coated.
  8. Are SP-01 and SP-01 Shadow barrels interchangeable? Or are the barrels fitted to the individual gun?
  9. So I tried out some coated bullets for the first time yesterday - 147 FP out of my CZ SP-01 Shadow. I was chrono / group testing at 25 yards. My sights are zeroed at 25 yards with plated and jacketed in both 124 and 147. The lines across the top of the slide, compared to the line of the sight cut make it easy to see if the sight has drifted (see pic below). With the coated, the POI was consistently about 3" left, with several different power factors (127-135). Anyone else experience this with coated?
  10. I've read that on a controlled pair, if your second shot is high - your recoil spring may be too light. If the gun is cycling reliably, how else can you tell if a recoil spring is too light?
  11. Great info here. If it wasn't already mentioned - have your chrono about 10 feet away from your muzzle. This will give you accurate readings and is also the distance that IDPA & USPSA use.
  12. This thread should help: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=218275
  13. I checked out the 147 coated bullets from: Bayou, IbejiHeads, SNS, BBI, Blue, Black & Blue, Precision, Acme etc. Most seem to have the same Flat Point design. A few do not have the lube groove. What OAL and TiteGroup load will make about 130PF out of an SP-01 Shadow?
  14. I use both, and what works for me is to use cases tumbled in dry media for 90 min max. Wet tumbling removes all the residue from the inside of the cases, which the powder funnel needs as a lubricant. My cases do not stick this way.
  15. Thank you for the videos. On the 550b shaft, the video says to lube it with 30wt motor oil. Are you supposed to clean it first?
  16. Looks like George Fennell of Weapon Shield has some impressive credentials. He also created FP-10: INVENTOR Doctor of Astronomy and Astrophysics 1979 - 1985: PITT (University of Pittsburgh - Research Associate, Allegheny Observatory) Lubrication Engineer (PE) 1986 - 2004: MPC (Co-Founder, Vice President, Technical Director) 1985 - Present: Steel Shield Technologies, Inc.(Co-Founder, President, Technical Director) Organizations: SAE (Society of Automotive and Aerospace Engineers) Member ASNE (American Society of Naval Engineers) Member NCMA (National Contract Management Association) Member STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubricant Engineers) Member In 1986, Dr. George C Fennell, a former scientist in Astronomy and Astrophysics is doing consulting and contract works in advanced lubrication and surface Tribology, formulated a revolutionary metal treatment oil additive which can activate "ABF" (Advanced Boundary Film) through a proprietary and unique "electro-chemical ionization" (ECI) process. He has been known since then in the industry as the "Father of Advanced Boundary Film Lubrication and halogenation without corrosion". On the basis of ABF, a series of specialty lubricants were derived to meet the specific requirements of various purposes, which is so far to date, the most advanced formulas in lubrication and lubrication theory. In retrospective, the nearly half a century research and development obviously embodies the relentless pursuit of several generations of scientists from scratch to reality. Over the years, since the official launch of Steel Shield in the market, there have been tremendous aftermarket products trying to resemble Steel Shield, but due to its unique formula and advanced chemistries, none have been found even remotely successful. To this date, Dr. Fennell is still the leader and top expert in his field.
  17. No, I sort brass by headstamp and only use Win, FC, RP, Starline, Speer, Blazer and PMC.
  18. I have loaded at least 15,000 9mm on my 550b, and never had an issue with primer depth until recently. Within the last week, I have had 2 different batches of bullets have a round with what I suspect was a high primer. With my DA/SA CZ, a SA shot went "click" and the follow-up DA shot want "bang" on the same bullet. This was with CCI primers and mixed brass. Before this, my CZ has been 100% with thousands of CCI primers on the first strike. I do a visual inspection of all the primers when they are in my Hundo case gauge. I didn't notice any of them being high. That said, what settings on the 550b should I check for good primer seating depth?
  19. If you have slugged your SP-01 / Shadow barrel, what did it measure to? .355? .356?
  20. Besides lower cost, do coated bullets (Bayou, BBI, IbejiHeads etc.) have any advantages over plated or HPCB bullets?
  21. I'm looking for SP-01 load data for Zero 147 JHP. My barrel was reamed by Grams Engineering, so short OAL should not be an issue. Anyone shoot 147 JHPs?
