  1. Here are just 3 stage ideas where evenly skilled competitors where Limited Minor beats Limited Major...no magic 1. 24 round course of fire, 6 targets, 4 hits per target all targets full and inside of 3 yards 2. 19 plates, one popper. 3. 11 zebra targets, all about 15 yards, 2 rounds per target. In each case, it will be easy for the minor shooter to shoot all As, less so for the Major shooter, and the minor shooter saves a reload as well. These stages will typically result in about a 10% advantage to the minor shooter. #1 is the only one where I see an advantage and only because of round count, not major minor scoring. No different then saying a 32 round mag will beat a 30 round mag on a 32 round stage
  2. I believe this is opinion not fact and I disagree with it. I've had my ass kicked at matches by guys shooting minor. Now they were very skilled and would have beat me even bigger shooting major, but to say it doesn't work is false. It doesn't work when you are shooting against shooters of equal skill.
  3. I do a little flip. the round lands where the slide is pulled back to. All I have to do is open my hand. I only do it in practice, for some reason I don't ever do it in a match. Probably because I don't have to show anyone a clear gun in practice
  4. If you are running slow splits, then fire one shot as you track the swinger coming down and then another shot as it stops. If it is a swinger that is only available when it is in full swinger and a narrow window, then sometimes you have to take 2 passes at it. Also practice how many targets you can get between the activator and the swinger, it is usually more than you think
  5. I agree. People that consistently blast 3 shots at a swinger are not calling their shots and will never get better at them.. tracking is the way to go because you can shoot them as soon as your sights are on them. If I shoot the activator and get to the swinger early, I can track it down. If I'm late, I can track it back up. I used to ambush only, but if the target isn't there, then you are just wasting time I think 10 yards on a swinger were you can see the stop, B class should be able to get good hits all day long
  6. You probably are, you shouldn't even see the NS, just the spot on the target you want to hit.
  7. You can run 100% classifiers with .2 splits There are very few instances were splits matter.
  8. Keep shooting those A, just shoot them sooner, not faster
  9. I have been shooting ibejihead coated bullets thru my open gun. I have been happy with the accuracy. The comp does get a little dirty but the bore had stayed clean. I was spraying the comp with wd40 before and after I shoot, but now I.just throw the barrel in a ultrasonic cleaner. Currently I am using 7.8g of hs6 with a 124g bullet. It runs about 168pf. I have used everything from this to 9.5 hs6 with a mg 115. The difference in recoil wasn't enough to be worth the extra cost of the mg

    New to clays

Buy a sight blinder cross fire reducer from Meadow Industries. If the left eye can't see the front sight it won't try to take over the sight picture. Pat Interesting, I'll take a look

    New to clays

I match the speed of the clay when I shoot now, but with 2 eyes open I really have no idea where my barrel is. I have the same issue with pistol. But I will try again

    New to clays

I tried the "just let it happen"...it never happened. I hired an instructor once that said, just focus on the bird and your brain will figure it the lead, it's like magic". It was like magic, because I couldn't figure out why it happened and couldn't repeat it. I think I need to call my shots. Send me some info on the sv

    New to clays

I have started shooting sporting clays also...love it and so does my wife, We go shoot, then get beer and BBQ, makes for a fun day It still take me time a few stages for me to adjust to keeping the gun moving, especially if I have been doing a lot of pistol shooting. The last time I shot, I started on the advanced course. Way to hard for me, I had no idea what my lead should be, when went back to the intermediate course and it took a few more stages to get mentally back into it. The rabbit were killing me that day, I watched a video that said not to lead them, but the ones we were shooting needed lead. killed my score for the day. I usually shoot upper 70s to low mid 80s. I was high 60s that day. I can't shoot 2 eyes open. I just have no idea where the barrel is pointing when i do. I got a auto clay thrower to practice, but I just can't get 2 eyes open to work for me. I shoot a Benelli SuperSport, which has been awesome. I have tried a Beretta A400, didn't care for it, and a Beretta SP1, which I liked, but not enough to drop the Benelli..... I was looking at the SV10, haven't tried one yet
  14. http://jjrammo.com/Order.php Jules makes great ammo, give him a ring if it says it is out of stock.
  15. Yes really. I'm not dq'ing someone unless I am 100% sure, that means I have to see it and I'm certainly not going off what someone said.
  16. You shouldn't DQ someone for something that you didn't see

    RTS 2

I had my dot go out a couple weeks back. Put an elastic band under the tab and it has been good for 900 rounds
  18. I tried a dawson spring on multiple guns, didn't solve the issue. The spring was shifting to the left and would fall the sear. I used a punch to peen the mainspring and then out a paster over the base

    RTS 2

Just got a JV Dynamics RTS2 mount, looks very well made and its centered
  20. top one in the 4th pic looks like a 40, if the indentations aren't the same on both sides, then it is
  21. 9/38 mags have indents on the both side of the mag body going top to bottom, 40 has them one side, light on the other
  22. Bench and squats mean very little when it come to grip strength. The technique is simple, grip it high and hard. stance has very little to do with it too. You should be able to control recoil while moving and off balance. Very few stages are static and allow you to get a solid stance
