Join the Deadwood Boys club on Sunday, August 7th for an "All-Classifer" USPSA match. Whether you are new to USPSA shooting, are looking to improve your classification, or are trying to get your initial classification in a new division, this match will give you the chance to knock out your classification in one day. The match will be six stages and will feature set-squadding and stage ROs to help keep the day moving. Competitiors will also be allowed to register to shoot in up to two divisions (and yes, PCC is available!). You are welcome. I am still trying to get used to the fact that Rio uses PS. Perhaps someday we may even use it in SoCal Well, the good news is that you are tied with Sevigny... See you tomorrow! I was told by one of the members of Linea De Fuego that they will begin using PS next month. Lester We started using PS at the DWB Action Pistol, X3 Multigun, and TTI Rifle matches at Piru, but these aren't USPSA matches. I'd love to see SWPL move to that system so that we could actually get our scores quickly, but because that match is so open as far as start times go, it is impractical right now unless every person or small group that showed up together got their own ipad/Nook.

OAL is the key. When I got my Eagle 6.0 .40 my Freedom Munitions loads did the same thing. I had my friend load me up some 1.180 OAL loads and the problem went away.

Since it is Valentines day weekend, prices will be higher than usual. There are a good amount of motels (Motel 6, Days Inn, etc.) in Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo that may be around the 100 dollar per night rate. I'd suggest booking sooner than later since rooms tend to fill up for the holiday weekend. We're staying at the Travelodge in SLO. Reasonable price, decent place.

Yeah, unfortunately with California laws these matches are better suited for people that are already trapped here in the state. Though our all-knowing legislature provided a competition exemption to the AW laws, they didn't do so for "large capacity magazines." The only thing you could do is potentially use someone else's that is at the match with you "under their direct supervision."

I suggest consulting with an attorney before attempting to enter CA with your rifles and magazines. There is a competition exemption in the Penal Code, but I'm not sure how many LEOs are aware of it: 30665. Sections 30600, 30605, and 30610 shall not apply to the possession and importation of an assault weapon or a .50 BMG rifle into this state by a nonresident if all of the following conditions are met: (a) The person is attending or going directly to or coming directly from an organized competitive match or league competition that involves the use of an assault weapon or a .50 BMG rifle. (b ) The competition or match is conducted on the premises of one of the following: (1) A target range that holds a regulatory or business license for the purpose of practicing shooting at that target range. (2) A target range of a public or private club or organization that is organized for the purpose of practicing shooting at targets. © The match or competition is sponsored by, conducted under the auspices of, or approved by, a law enforcement agency or a nationally or state recognized entity that fosters proficiency in, or promotes education about, firearms. (d) The assault weapon or .50 BMG rifle is transported in accordance with Section 25610 or Article 3 (commencing with Section 25505) of Chapter 2 of Division 5. The Taran Tactical Innovations West Coast Rifle Series is a new monthly All Rifle match that is coming to the X3 Multigun Range (www.x3multigun.com) in Piru, CA (just a short drive away from LA and Ventura) starting this February. This match will feature six stages of rifle fun combining speed and accuracy with targets that range from CQB inside of 35 yards to longer range targets from 100-400 yards. All you need is you, your rifle, enough magazines for 40-60 rounds per stage, and around 250-300 rounds of ammunition. Signups start at 8am and shooting starts at 9am sharp! If you want to squad with your friends, you had better get there early. Match fees for the event will be $30 for DWB and X3 members and $40 for non-members. The CAEK is just a spring kit. As soon as you change the physical trigger itself, it bumps you out of production and into Limited.

I have put over 15k rounds through my M&P9 Pro 5" with Apex FSS and Competition Striker Spring. Ammo has been a mix of Federal American Eagle, Freedom Munitions, and handloads using CCI and Federal primers. In all that time I have never had a light strike or any ignition issue.

When will the trigger upgrade for existing FSS customers be available? I've been waiting for this ever since it was teased at SHOT Show.

Wilson Combat just came out with a drop-in barrel, but I haven't seen many reviews of it yet.

You might want to look at the "Boss" hanger mentioned above. It's rock solid with the Blade-Tech or the CompTac. Yeah, I'll be getting that for my Production rig now. For Limited I switched to a Ghost.

One caution on the Blade-Tech DOH for USPSA is that if you decide to go to any large matches, it is questionable whether it meets the 2" requirement for the distance from the gun to the inner-most belt. That bit me hard at the USPSA Nationals and I ended up just removing the DOH adapter. I talked to Blade-Tech and they said to meet the requirement I'd have to shim the bottom attachment on the DOH adapter.

Check out Speed Shooter Specialties for the spring. I run a 13lb in my 9Pro and it works great. For a while I ran 125gr handloads moving about 970fps for my local non-sanctioned match and the gun cycled great and shot very soft.

Not yet. I was looking at one for my .40 but it doesn't have the accuracy issue my 9mm does. I might actually try the $160 Wilson Combat 9mm barrel first to see if that makes a big difference before I jump into a barrel I have to have a gunsmith fit.

Any update on how it shot?

Barrel came in last night and it has the old rifling. At least I have a spare barrel now. The hunt continues for the new version!
