Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My biggest frustration has been that you really need to use either an absolutely stock gun or go full out custom. The guys in the middle that aren't ready either because of skill level or budget to go into the Open Division are kinda left in an awkward position. I can't see why there can't be a middle ground there. Things like not being able to change out your trigger or have extended basepads are fairly inexpensive upgrades that can make a big difference but if you do them then you're thrown all the way from Production to Open.
  2. Are we talking about these? http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_278_292&products_id=1308 http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_278_292&products_id=1101 And that brings up another point...I'm guessing that these are legal for IDPA ESP with the ESP magwell AND are legal for USPSA Production but you can't use the ESP magwell. Am I correct?
  3. So...I went through the other posts and didn't see anything about this. I do see that there are specs for the maximum size of the gun (has to fit into the USPSA box with an empty mag, etc) on the USPSA website but don't have my gun with me at the moment and can't measure until I buy the basepads. Sooo....does anyone know for sure that a M&P CORE 5" with the TTI basepads (supposedly fits the USPSA 140mm guage) fits in the requirements for Production Division? On a side note...as I understand it you can't add an APEX trigger and stay production. Is that accurate? Thanks in advance for your help...
  4. That's strange that it doesn't fit your Bladetech holster. I got one of the officially licensed M&P clone airsoft pistols and it fits mine. I have an M&P 9mm 5" core. I got the Bladetech OWB for 9mm...had to make a slight adjustment to the end because my 5" pistol was too long (just heated it up with a heat gun and inserted my gun into the holster until it cooled)...it works fine with the airsoft gun.
  5. I just added the Dawson Precision blacked-out serrated competition rear sight and the (thin bladed) FO front sight. Personally I really prefer the thin front sight because it is easier to pick up the front sight, gives you more of a view of the target and to me it is easier to center the front blade in the rear notch when you have some open space instead of having the front sight fill the rear notch. So my vote is for a thinner front sight.
  6. I bought some ammo from a company out of Dallas (I live in the area) called Stand 1 Armory. I was really impressed with the quality and reliability. I've shot almost all of their 9mm and .223 and haven't had any issues and found it to be very accurate also. While going through their website I saw that they had some 9mm 115 gr Superlite ammo that they say is "a true double -P load"...power factor around 100. They have all sorts of disclaimers about needing to shoot a modified gun with 11# or lighter recoil spring, etc. I tried it out with a 13# spring and I had a stove pipe issue. Duh...sounds like they were right...I need a lighter spring. Dang it was like shooting a BB gun though and it was super accurate. Has anyone had any experience running a 11# or lighter spring in their M&P Pro (I have a 5" CORE)? I could really see where it would be awesome (assuming that you're only shooting paper) to run this ammo if going down to an 11# spring would do the job.
  7. I'll second the Dawson precision pre-cut (laser) abrasive grips. They fit an M&P absolutely perfect and don't cover the back strap.
  8. Just saw this on the 3-Gun Nation Facebook page. Looks like Keith Garcia uses airsoft... https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152929868866424&set=vb.394637266423&type=3&theater
  9. Just saw this on 3-Gun Nations Facebook page. If it is good enough for Keith Garcia then it should be good for most people. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152929868866424&set=vb.394637266423&type=3&theater
  10. I just ordered the Shotmaxx. I can't see where any timer would be as good as this one...worn on wrist...has software that can be updated as they make improvements. Sounds awesome! I can't wait to try it out.
  11. I've got it and it is awesome!!! Agree with techj about the "racking the slide" issue. If I was shooting a Glock I'd get the SIRT pistol today...or yesterday. I shoot an M&P and they don't have a M&P SIRT in that model yet though I'm told that there will be one available in early 2015...though they have missed some previously promised launch dates. I bought a LaserLyte full sized training pistol just to play around with so I can use all the functions of the software but it sin't an M&P so I'm not real happy about that...just got it for fun. I did buy a M&P officially licensed blowback airsoft pistol and it works pretty well for drawing from the holster and also sight alignment and site picture and shooting with both eyes...which is something I was having a hard time with but now am doing much better. I'm currently working on putting the LaserLyte laser device in the barrel of my airsoft pistol and using it so I get the best of both worlds (until the SIRT comes out)...but it is going to require some modification of my airsoft gun and I'm trying to find an airsoft gunsmith to help me with it so I don't screw up my gun.
  12. Great info! I have MP9 pro 5''. Will the airsoft clone fit in my holster? How about the weight, all metal or polymer? I suppose the trigger on airsoft is totally different than APEX... The one I mentioned in my post fits my CORE holster perfectly. The weight is a little lighter than the real pistol but with a mag in it it's pretty close to a real pistol without a mag. The trigger is different. Haven't messed with it to see if there is any way to manipulate it at all. There is also a video out there where a guy puts some material (some type of pliable eraser) into the mag to keep the airsoft bb follower from going up to the empty position. That will allow it to fire when empty. I think they use airsoft guns in movies or something. I haven't done it but if you wanted to simulate firing without shooting bbs then that could be a good solution.
  13. What kind of work/lubing are you guys doing to the inside of the extension tube to make sure the spring doesn't bind up or anything? Anyone use silicon spray or light oil on the spring? I'm not sure if that is any issue or not but just checking to make sure I have my bases covered.
  14. So I'm guessing that you want less forward force to reduce recoil and more downward force to reduce muzzle rise?
  15. I've got a LaserLyte and the LASR Range software. I'm not using it to it's full capability since I have to rack the slide too. Once the SIRT M&P is out then it will be much better. I'm also using a M&P Officially Licensed Airsoft pistol. It is pretty effective at short ranges (7-10 yards).
