  1. That is an EPIC build...very well done, sir. And a nice Lapidus granite for the lady!
  2. I would say it's a matter of perspective. When I try to shoot very slow groups (bullseye style) I can't hold my focus. It's almost as if I wait too long, I begin thinking instead of just shooting. Some folks have the calmness and patience to shoot slowly with high accuracy. I, the other hand, suffer from the Ricky Bobby disease.....I just wanna go fast!!!
  3. Good shooting!!! Didn't mean to sound crass about your first sanctioned match, I was just under the impression that the rules state you have to have a classification to shoot a sanctioned match. Neither here nor there, glad you had fun, hope you continue to play and improve.
  4. The second visible Riot Trooper from the left....just a blank, vacant stare and there is a snow flake falling just right, makes his mouth look all slack and hungry for brains
  5. how did you shoot a sanctioned match unclassified?
  6. Larger A-zone in the head box...point values stay the same. Make it 3x3 instead of 4x2 It seems that the Bodies of targets (and Amoebas) are set up for more tolerances in vertical variance, rather than horizontal variance. The head should reflect the same
  7. Even though that wouldn't be practical for classification, I think it would be cool to see a point series. Maybe have a data base per state, scored for every local match. Do some sort of class based championship state wide. Or maybe field courses submitted and approved, just like classifiers that would set up a national percentage annually. Just like classifiers, have one every local match. Points turned in and highest (x)number of competitors in each div/class get a spot in the Field Course Invitational. Just thinking through the keyboard
  8. CBCs give me the most trouble in the case gauging department....in 9mm w/.356
  9. I was sick and gave away my ticket to Fleck at the Orpheum in Memphis.....talk about a sad week
  10. Don't worry, man....PayPal can't keep you from the goods
  11. I had a similar problem with the safety on the left side. I have long, hitch hiker thumbs and occasionally on the draw and table starts, I would sweep the safety on with my strong hand thumb. I switched to the thin safeties (Rami safeties, not the Shadow thins) and fixed the problem. I have since started allowing my thumb to naturally point up as I draw and begin building the grip. This has also proven to be a plus for me because my strong hand thumb position blocks the image of the front sight from my left eye, allowing my to shoot with both eyes open without tape or chap stick on the left lens of my glasses.
  12. I hate the phrase "not to mention," followed by the subject that was supposed to not be effing mentioned!!! Rhetoric is far worse than poor grammar. But it all reminds me of Carlin, which in turn makes me laugh.....so I guess it's all good, yo!
  13. I'll play....I haven't seen this month's update, but my initial classification should be B class. #A82335-Production. Thanks
  14. I don't know, Sarge...I think the best advise I can give you is to give up on #3.
  15. This^^ I'm starting to learn that when it looks like everything is going slow, I'm observing the process as a whole, and it is really happening quickly. When I TRY to go fast, I am shooting with the conscious mind, and everything seems like it's going out of control. This is how mistakes happen, i.e. fumbled reloads, pausing before transitions, etc.
  16. Just some thoughts from a fellow newbie: Stages starting with engagement on the retreat- Sometimes it is best to draw then start stepping backwards. Other times you can set yourself up for the next position by making a big step during the draw and continue your retreat.. Fire with an equally FAST cadence. Those targets are spitting distance, good practice for a Type 1 sight focus. Reloads- New rules, so plan a target that you can throw 3 at (second to last target you split 1-reload-1 on). You don't want to add an extra transition. Dump 3, reload, on to the next target. And don't move back behind cover to reload, save the tenths of a second and be ready to snap those eyes to the next target.
  17. Shot this today. Production-Unclassified 1st String: 3.11 2nd String: 6.26 86 points HF: 9.1782, should be 87.3025%
  18. Construction Superintendents who have hands that are softer than Charmin w/Aloe. You always advise with the best advice!
  19. It was a target with two no shoots in front, covering about 70-75% of the A-zone. Wanted the sights lined up as best as possible before starting to fire. Learning to shoot no faster than I can see. Thanks for the tip on the holster forward. Been so used to IDPA, I forget that I have a bit more leeway in USPSA.
  20. Things I noticed w/ SloMo: 1) Initial grab is a bit sloppy. 2) Need to treat head shots as any other targets. My reset ride was great on the body shots. Group was small in the A-zone. On the head shots it almost seems like i'm unsure after the first press and didn't follow the sights, looked up momentarily while letting the trigger all the way forward. Dropped a shot in the neck/shoulder area. Thanks in advance for any insight!
