  1. IIRC it was Vince Pinto, but I forget if I sent him an email or if he posted something here.
  2. PMFJI but the wooden slats on a Cooper Tunnel are NOT props. They're fault lines used to define cover. If you disturb one it's the same penalty as shooting when stepping over a fault line on the ground.
  3. What does the location of the match have to do with anything? Isn't the problem airline restrictions, so you gotta ship your own ammo ahead or buy unfamiliar ammo when you get there. That would apply if the world shoot was held in Tulsa too, right?
  4. If the World Shoot was held in the USA, how many slots would USPSA members get?
  5. I think the point being made by chuckw and others is that if the US team didn't ship any ammo at all like other countries did, we can't make excuses about crappy match ammo not working in our guns. Failing to plan is planning to fail!
  6. Seems "security concerns" is the top "reason" against every ws from Cebu and Africa and Ecuador and now Bali. If we hold the next ws in Tulsa, what do we tell Euros when they ask about "security concerns" here in the US? We're not only the #1 target for all the crazies in the world but we even had domestic terrorism in Oklahoma City, so who are we to criticize? Will we guarantee the safety of o/s visitors?
  7. There's also a little company in Finland called NOKIA who have a 43% world-wide market share using the Symbian OS!
  8. I've also seen Vince get "testy" at times with the endless questions. Reading between the lines, I think the 5lb minimum trigger pull is what keeps people honest in IPSC. You really can't do much internal work with such a high limitation, and trying to change major parts is too obivous. I'd also think IPSC should impose a 10 round limit, but Vince already has a battle over his idea of a 15 round limit. I'd hate to be in his shoes coz he's gonna get hammered no matter what.
  9. Just visited the world shoot website and checked out the competitor list. Looks like there's going to be 1025 shooters just in the main match, but I don't see too many Americans there yet. Does anyone know how many Americans are going?
  10. You must be confusing your old pal with another Mr. Pinto - the one running the Global Village has been plugging for a 15 round limit for ages. It's other people who've been arguing about Governments adopting tougher capacity rules based on IPSC rules. The SS "teaser" is interesting though. The question is will their plan be "shock & awe" or "shockingly awful"?
  11. Eric is a great shooter. Max is a great shooter. The difference is that Eric has won three World Shoots. Max has never won a World Shoot, but he'll have another chance in Bali this year. May the best man win.
  12. If you go to http://www.recoilmag.com.au/index-frameset.htm and click on "in-depth interviews" there's also one with Adam Tyc.
  13. At the last WS only about 40% of shooters were in a team. It's all about individual performance. A team is just 4 individual results added together.
  14. Found this thread at the Global Village which explains everything: http://ipsc.invisionzone.com/index.php?act...f=85&t=3253
  15. I emailed the admin Vince Pinto and he said if you only used "demetrio" without a surname or if you looked like a spammer it was probably deleted.
  16. I don't know Merlin but the smilies are hilarious!!
  17. You should also join the IPSC forum. It's very international with lots of shooters from Central and South America, including Brazil! http://ipsc.invisionzone.com/
  18. How do you figure that? What part of the range equipment "failed"? The timer on his stage didn't "fail" - the shooter just reacted to the wrong timer, and that timer didn't fail either. Why let the shooter waste his ammo when all you've got to do is stop him and restart him?
  19. I don't think so - 8.6.4 looks like it's the right rule!
  20. There's a note about unofficial teams at the bottom of the regional directors page. http://www.selpro.com.hk/ipsc1/
  21. Your argument is flawed. As it was explained to me, it's no different to when a cop lets you off with a warning for a moving violation, but you get fined the second time he catches you making the same moving violation. Relating a penalty to the stage where you were warned or get dinged is a red herring. If you lose 10 points, that's all you lose, no matter how big the stage where it's written down.
  22. I think he's just having some fun. IIRC he's the Handgun Rules guy, so the Larry-Curly-Moe thing looks like self-deprecating (spl?) humor.
  23. I asked a similar question of Vince Pinto about a year ago and he told me removal of flash or burrs was legal in IPSC as minor detailing. Did you get different information? I also find it hard to believe you couldn't legally do the same under USPSA rules!
  24. 6 procs or a match dq?? I say we should expel him from USPSA! C'mon guys. He shot each string correctly but in the wrong sequence, so where's the advantage? I say he gets 1 proc at most but I'd feel like an ass even giving him 1 proc.
