Mark 7 Super 1050 settings for processing 223
ams30gts replied to ams30gts's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I just updated it to the most current software last week. The same day the newest one came out. No additional sensors right now. Just the 1050 X model standard. -
Wet tumbling, and using magnet on case feeder...
ams30gts replied to Quirk's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
To separate the pins I use the Frankford Arsenal Media Separator on a 3gl bucket filled with water. I put max 300 in at a time and it get's 100% of the pins everytime. I used to use my Dillon media separator, but it requires a lot more water and parts of it started rusting. -
Wet tumbling, and using magnet on case feeder...

True, but isn't that the main reason for wet tumbling? -
Wet tumbling, and using magnet on case feeder...

Wet tumbling without pins may get the outside clean, but the inside and primer pocket won't be. -
I just got my Mark 7 up and running and I must say this thing is freakin awesome. It does exactly what it is supposed to and does it well. Ran about 1K through it right now and ran great. Only issue I still have is brass falling over at station 1 when it gets inserted. Happens maybe 1 out of 100. What I have in the toolhead and settings: Brass insertion Lee Universal Decapping Die F&FB Swage Rod & Swage Rod Backer Empty Empty 223 Trim Die + 1500 Trimmer (1.456" Headspace @ 1.750") Empty Neck Expanding Die Here are the settings I am running at which seemed to run nicely. Still tinkering with it to see what is best/efficient. 1500 RPH Digital Clutch 4 Index Speed 5 Bottom Dwell 6 Just a few questions for fellow Mark 7ers. I started with the clutch set at 3, but occasionally it would stop. Now I am running it at 4. What do you run yours at? When I set the machine at 1800 RPH, I needed to set the clutch higher. How high should I go?

223 Trim Die cam-over on 1050
ams30gts replied to ams30gts's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I got that reading with shells in every station. I should check again for head tilt though with brass in there. -
9mm Brass Getting Hung Up in Case Feeder Funnel
ams30gts replied to bradleygt's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Just in case others don't know what the waterfall is. It's called a waterfall because brass starts falling on your head from the log jam ahead. -
223 Trim Die cam-over on 1050
ams30gts replied to ams30gts's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I measured 5 pieces of M855 that I had around and all 5 measured 1.456 ±.0005 with the Hornady Headspace Comparator. I then turned down the trim die until I hit that mark which ended up being just over 1/3 of a turn past touching the shellplate. Is this amount tilt in the tool head ok? Video Link -
223 Trim Die cam-over on 1050
ams30gts replied to ams30gts's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Should I just start with a factory new round and get a reading from that? I assume that would be the best way to go. -
What do I need to hand drop powder charges in 550B
ams30gts replied to LeviSS's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I do this as well with a 308. Just use the powder die and put a funnel on top. Works like a charm. -

223 Trim Die cam-over on 1050
ams30gts replied to ams30gts's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Just bought one. I just ordered a Mark 7 to replace my PW autodrive. Will hopefully get it all nice and setup early next week. -
When using the 223 trim die on my 1050 I have to cam-over quite a bit to get the case within SAAMI spec. This puts quite a bit of pressure on the weak shell plate and I would hate to have to buy another which I already had to do. When I see youtube videos of others processing 223, I don't see their tool heads flex as much as mine does. I use a LE Wilson Case Gauge to check the cases. Anyone have a fix for this?
-
This is my method. I process on the 1050 and load on the 550. I tumble in walnut before processing and then tumble in stainless after processing. 1050 setup: Brass insertion Lee Universal Decapping Rod Swage with F&F hardened swage rod Empty Empty 223 Trim Die w/ 1500 trimmer Empty Lee Collet Neck Die (Only enough so the pin expands the neck back to spec)

Fast and Friendly Brass - not?
ams30gts replied to Want2BS8ed's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
I've only ordered a primer pocket gauge and heavy duty pawl. Can't comment on the owner, but my package came fast. I have also been running the heavy duty pawl for over 50K rounds and yes it has wear, but functions fine still. -
Best Locking Die Rings to use on a 1050
ams30gts replied to Phlier's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I use the Hornady rings on mine and they work fine. I do use the Dillon rings on trim dies though as you generally need to run it on the bottom. -
Sorry I really have no idea why the swage rod is breaking... But...The F&F heavy duty pawl is a great buy if you are running a autodrive. If running the press manually, it shouldn't be needed.

RT 1200 Switch Not Working

It is the same thing. I use one witch setup for my 1200 and 1500. Don't understand why they won't sell you one. -
Casefeed plates 550B/XL650 and conversion kits
ams30gts replied to 78Staff's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
The casefeed plates are interchangeable so no worries there. If you are buying the 650 with 45ACP conversion kit and large pistol case feeder, you will not need anything extra other than dies. -
223 steel trim die snapped in half!
ams30gts replied to ams30gts's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Dillon takes care of me as usual. -
What could have caused this? It's not very old and doesn't have that many rounds on it. I was just moving along and I saw my trimmer fall to the bench in slow motion! I was loading on a super 1050 and a 1200b trimmer.

.223 dies ....to Dillon or not to be ?.......
ams30gts replied to biglou13's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I use a bunch of different brands of dies. For all of my rifle I use Forster or Redding, both with the micrometer for bullet seating. For all of my pistol I use Lee or Dillon.
