  1. the xtp is a personal defense bullet i think
  2. While load data is good for a starting point they don't usually publish load data for long loaded competition loads. You won't find load data for .40 loaded to 1.2. the load data in books is for pressure at saami spec loads. Those of us loading long will be using more powder than the load books max.
  3. I wasn't looking for secrets or detailed content. If a 3k dollar class could be rendered unnecessary by a forum post it's definitely not worth the money. More interested in the format and what's covered in the course in general terms. Is it a more personally tailored version of the book? Very glad you found the course beneficial. I've definitely considered it. I live in texas which makes it convenient for me. I think most of us could benefit from mental training. While his book is very interesting I haven't found a way to implement his ideas effectively in my shooting. His course may solidify some of that. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. do you have to have an existing hearing problem to get insurance to help with these? Or do they cover them as a preventative?
  5. Could you talk a little about the mental management course and what you think you got out of it? I have read the book but the class is a little expensive.
  6. I wish the PAL and the RF were not so expensive. I use a modified vibraprime and it works well enough.
  7. Lets hope. The closer it is the the center of the country the more people that can attend.
  8. I have never loaded plated/jacketed rounds but from what I have seen in the forum -10% is a good starting place.
  9. usually if its not enough crimp it wont go in very far at all. Are you using a case gauge first? Use the case gauge to judge your crimp. If it passes the gauge then move on to barrel testing. If you want to know where its failing paint the top of the case and the the bullet with a marker before dropping it in. pull it out and the marks will be rubbed off where its contacting the barrel.
  10. When setting the oal start long and back off until the round will drop in (plunk) and remove just as easily. You dont want the round sticking on the lands because you could run into an issue with the gun not going into battery. If it plunks and you can pull it out with little force then you should be gtg on OAL.
  11. I bell about as much as yours in the picture. If you want to bell less but not shave the bullet the MR bullet feeder funnel/expander works well. I go down in crimp until they will consistently plunk. I have never pulled a bullet and mine are more accurate then me. put the press all the way in the down stroke and then thread the crimp die down until it touches the case. Raise the handle and lower the die a little more. Rinse and repeat with lowering the in small increments until the rounds plunk consistently. It may be a situation where in order to get the round to chamber in your gun you do need that much crimp.
  12. Dont think they are doing the races anymore
  13. time plus can but shot a lot faster than hit factor scoring. In 3 gun guys just throw two rounds on paper. Just slap the trigger twice and move on. Its hard for some of the 3 gun guys to do well in USPSA since they are use to just putting two rounds on brown instead of actually doing anything that resembles aiming.
  14. Would regular uspsa match not work for you? If your wanting HF scoring. You can just add the divisions you need. In our 3 gun we do time plus so I'm honestly not familar with HF multi gun.
  15. Wet tumbled cases with pins are so clean they stick in the press. I use hornaday one shot and it makes the press run smooth.
  16. practiscore is great. Good luck. One thing that might help is to remember that you will pull the match info from the nooks at the start of the match. You will sync (pull) on each nook. At the end of the match you will sync (pull) using the master and pull from each nook.
  17. That looks good. I have never pulled a bullet. If loading a bullet with the high-tek coating you will see it shave off in the seating station if you dont have enough flare. I personally use the redding competition seating die. I find it seats more consistent and I like the fine tuning. Trying to adjust the dillon dies with the nut is a PITA. I use the dillon crimp die and a redding dual ring sizing/decap die. I forget who makes them but you can get a set of lock rings with a set screw so you can remove your dies without losing their positioning. This is important if your only running one tool head but multiple calibers.
  18. Since your nooks will follow the squads, once the match is synced to the nooks go to the match/edit shooters squads. In the top right there will be a "squads" button. It will pull up the squads list then tap on the squad for that tablet. It will "lock" that tablet to that squad to make it easier for your RO/SK to move between stages and score their squad. When your done with the match you will sync "pull" the scores from each tablet into your master. From there you will have the entire match to upload to practiscore.
  19. If your not doing online reg/squading then setup a "master tablet" like your ipad. Build your match/stages and enter your shooters. You will be able to squad everyone on the tablet and when done sync to your nooks. It is actually easier to move people around in squads on the tablet then on the website. Your RO's can add walk ons on the nooks if needed and it will sync back when you sync your nooks to your ipad at the end of the match.
  20. I would just crimp until the round will plunk your barrel. But yes the goal is to remove the flare not actually "crimp".
  21. Do yall use a build and it and they will come mentality or do you advertise your match somehow?
  22. Those do look fun. I think maybe trying for more shooting positions but with less targets could be a good thing.
  23. Ya the range has target stands that stay in the bays. They are wood with some sort of fiberboard backers. They drop into PVC cups in the ground. We pull them out for matches and set them to the side.
  24. They are not hi tec coated. I think its called molly or something. they are fully coated and we have dug bullets out of the berm and they are still coated after being shot. The blue does rub off on your fingers while loading.
  25. I wish we could leave the stuff in the bays. Our range is a non profit with several thousand members. They dont allow the props to be used outside of competition so we have to store them in the shed after the matches. I might build a wall section out of 2x2 wood and compare it to our current walls.
