  1. At this point we are going to proceed as planned with the match. Its going to be cold and possibly wet. Our range is about 10 miles south of midland so its hard to tell what the range will get in regards to rain. I know you cant wait until Saturday to find out about the rain situation. Since the classifiers are small we can move them around the bays as needed to avoid any mud or standing water. But that is still a long way to travel for crappy conditions.
  2. I prefer Badman Bullets 180 grain. https://www.badmanbullets.com/OnlineStore/products.php?cat=40+Caliber+180+Grain+FP+Polymer+Coated
  3. I shot water all over my screen...thanks Jake.
  4. Thanks for the replies. All good stuff. We our having our first official match this sunday...a special classifier.
  5. I saw the setup notes but was still unclear. Seeing the images and re reading the notes clarified it for me. They should have used "bottom" rather than "bases" to describe the bottom edge of the cardboard. To me a target base is its stand. After seeing Chucks images it clarified that the left and right no shoots are along side and not behind the table as well.
  6. We are at a non profit members only gun range but I don't want the name to be married to the range in case we had to change ranges for some reason. Think we we decided to go with Laser Ninja Dragon League
  7. I don't see anything in the stage brief about how they are setup. Chucks graphics answered my questions.
  8. Can someone translate/clarify how the no-shoots are to be setup on this classifier? I am confused by their wording "No-shoots are set so that the bases of the no-shoots are at table height and sides are even with edge of table." Set targets to 5 feet at shoulders. Table is standard folding card table (40 inches by 40 inches). X's for elbow placement are 6 inches right and left of centerline and 6 inches in from edge of table nearest competitor. No-shoots are set so that the bases of the no-shoots are at table height and sides are even with edge of table. Box A is 4 feet by 4 feet. There are two standard poker-playing cards, one is to be held in each hand by the thumb and index finger.
  9. After a few days we can see where we are at. I can extend my squad if you want to shoot more divisions.

  13. i found the list on the uspsa website of existing clubs and have decided practical shooters are not very creative.
  14. We are creating a new USPSA club. Does your club have a cool, unusual name? Let me hear it! Looking for ideas for a fun not so ordinary uspsa club name.
  15. Every SVI AET barrel I have seen will not reliably load long loaded coated bullets sized .401. Some bullet profiles such as blue bullets seem to be more reliable. These are sized .400 and have a different profile than most though.
  16. Cheely quotes 35 bucks to do this for me. I contacted lonestar and he said he does it by hand with a rod and Emory paper because the distance from the shoulder to the lands is very small in 40 Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

  18. Thanks, having someone else do it is probably the best idea.
  19. I have a .40 pistol with a schuemann AET barrel that will not accept rounds with certain bullet profiles loaded as long as I like. I have a pair of practice and match 2011's and I want to be able to load just one round. I found in some other forums people talking about using a finish reamer to provide clearance for longer loaded rounds. I have emailed http://www.4-dproducts.com/ and Mason Reamers but not getting any response. Does anyone have experience with these finish reamers and is this the tool I need for what I am trying to do? I understand that I could lose a small bit of accuracy by messing with the AET barrel but at USPSA average distances I am not going to be able to tell. Its much more important that I don't have to load separate rounds for practice and matches. In a previous pistol I had a KKM match barrel that would accept really long length loads and was just as accurate as my guns with Schuemann barrels so I don't think removing a little bit of material is going to cause any noticeable change in accuracy.
  20. If you dont have a chrono or access to one I would stop messing with loads until you do. Its pointless.
  21. I am sure I will get heat for saying this but I wouldn't worry too much about the details unless it just interest you. People make reloading more difficult and scary sounding then it needs to be. I have a lyman book I have never opened. I shoot .40 with 180 grain bullets and 4 grains of ramshot comp powder with an OAL of 1.2. I went to the ramshot website and found their load data for 40 with comp. I also found what others where shooting in my OAL range. 180 (P) RAIN RNFP Start 3.0 727 Max 3.6 818 OAL 1.120 I picked a bullet profile that was close to mine. Took the max and backed off .2. Worked up 20 rounds from 3.4 - 4.0 until I reached the powerfactor I was looking for. Would you run 4 grains of this at 1.120...probably not recommended. but at 1.2 its fine but your not going to find that information in any book.
