    My Open Glock Project

Right now im using Berrys 115gn and auto comp at 6.1 gns which is far from major because im getting a chrono for christmas. As far as the lonewolf i guess it depends on what you wanted to use it for. Im really happy with the sjc for this, i got a Lonewolf barrel for my G35 limited gun and had problems with lead realods getting caught in the chamber. It was really frustrating untill i had a gun shop open the chamber a bit. The way I look at it what is $50 over the life of the gun? What are you buying the barrel for?
  4. Who's slide racker is that? i thought the carver one was the only black one
  5. I have a zev magwell. I have smaller hands and it only touches my pinky strong hand a little, i would call it comfortable.
  6. So I put the mount on my glock that im going to shoot in open this next year and realized it wont fit in the box it came in anymore. I always stored my limited gun in the glock box and my carry gun get carried obviously. So my question is what do you guys store you open guns in? Do you put it in another case when transporting it to the range?

  8. I sent out to turn make a open G17 out of the parts from my limited gun (35) Right now i have Zev Mag Well (brass insert) Fulcrum Trigger + Springs SJC Sideways Mount + Comp + Barrel CMORE is on the way ill add pictures after i get it on. The hardest part was the mount, I installed it myself and i think it turned out pretty well. The target is 100 rounds at 10 yards with glock stock sights to make sure the barrel/comp were good before i put the mount on. Im excited for all this snow to melt to USPSA season can start back up Without the mount With the mount The frame with the bushings installed. (The first hole drilled the the frame is the worst part) Stock sights 10 yards
  9. I filed the back of the follower and the back corners if that's any help.
  10. I apologize that this thread is kinda old, but i was going to ask the same question the op did. I dont understand the idea of wanting a harder primer. I though federal primers were the holy grail because they were the softest and go off where other primers would get light strikes?
  11. Dawson has a video on YouTube about how to file the follower to make sure that doesn't happen. I did what they described and never had a problem http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-xRAyzmmcr0&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D-xRAyzmmcr0
  12. I've been on it a couple times in the past week, no issues.
  13. 1lb and 8 lbs of auto comp are out of stock now.
  14. I tumble with stainless steel media, so i deprime before i tumble. Necessary? no. Shiny? Yes.
  15. As long as they look clean if I know that they are mostly empty (hit the ground) I empty them. If i shot a couple and take it out of the mag well i just fill it up and take the last one out Also in my 20 round G35 Mags the 20th one im fighting the spring but it just barely make it in, so i know when im at 19
  16. I installed the lighter firing pin spring with the extended pin, no problems. I also keep a spare set of springs even though i have not need to replace them, for 6 bucks its nice to have to keep you shooting

    Lone Wolf

Take your crimp down to .419-.420 bet you solve the issue :-) I slugged the barrel when i started using lead and it measured .401, so the bullets I buy are sized to .402 on purpose. If the walls of the case are on average .010-.011 if I crimp to .419 im cutting into the bullet which isn't meant to happen? thats my thought on it anways Update: 100/100 bullets fed and fired without a problem today. There is a match on Sunday that I will try it out at but right now seems to be working fine.

Wow my mags won't take anything longer that 1.140 in 40. What weight and profile bullet are you shooting? My mags worked fine with anything under 1.155, longer that than and it sounded like a rattle. 180gn Flat Point Sized to .402 And you mean you can drop the loaded cartridge in the chamber and it meets flush with the barrel hood and then spin it and it will fall out no issues? Yes, i can now that I took it in, I couldn't get them to go in before, even at 1.135 What is your crimp measuring? .423-.422 What powder and charge weight. 4.3 gn Red Dot

Accuracy wise it is fine. Jacketed reloads feed most of the time, lead reloads start out fine and then get pretty bad after 150 rounds. Mostly failure to feed issues. I started loading longer (1.150") which helped with the feeding but every once or twice a box it wont let the gun go fully into battery. When the firing pin goes i get a light strike and the gun goes into battery. All the round go off after a second strike. They polished the feed ramp/chamber and my lead reloads fall into the chamber without any hang ups, ill take it to the range tomorrow and see how it works out.

    Lone Wolf

I have a lone wolf barrel for my G35 that i bought to shoot lead bullets. Ive had nothing but problems with it. Its advertised as good for lead bullets because it has standard rifling. Has anyone else used them? Did you have problems/what did you do to fix them? Im going to take it in to a gun store and see what they say but at this point i spent $110 to have it shipped to me, im not going to send it back to lone wolf with more money to make it do what I bought it to do.
  21. Im struggling to get my brass to stay shiny. They come out looking nice and then they dull as they dry. At first when I started all brass came out beautiful now not so much.
  22. For 170mm 9mm Mags do you use extensions for G17 mags or a mag built to be 170mm? ( http://stores.sjcguns.com/-strse-51/SJC-%22Big-Stick%22-magazine/Detail.bok) What are the advantages of a big stick to justify the cost?
  23. Ive been toying with the idea of playing around with the idea of an open glock. In the research ive done SJC seems to do really good work. My question is should i go with their home built kit and save some money or should I pay out and have them build me one. I dont want to put one together myself and have nothing but problems but at the same time I could buy a lot of glocks for $2000. Here are links to what im talking about: SJC Built http://stores.sjcguns.com/-strse-2/SJC-Open-Pistol-9mm/Detail.bok $1925 Home built http://stores.sjcguns.com/-strse-94/SJC-Home-Build-Cmore/Detail.bok $549 Just looking for your thoughts. Thanks Edit - I should add that i have a mag well and a trigger kit from my limited gun if that plays a part Kraj

    Glock OAL

I was wondering what you guys load your .40 to? I use lead/jacket bullets (depending on what i can find) Right now im loading to 1.125 which is down from 1.135. Both ran fine in my mags but i still dont know if its right because im still having some issues with feeding. It always seems to happen when im going fast but the round gets stripped from the mag rides up the feed ramps and gets stuck pointing into the top of the chamber. the extractor isn't gripping the round. Sometimes "tap" in the tap rack bang drill will clear the jam and the round goes into the chamber, other times it wont. Just trying to brainstorm Glock 35 Lone wolf Barrel Mixed Brass 4.0 gn Red Dot 1.125 OAL CCI/Federal SPP
