  1. That article by Patrick Kelley was great. I like that he tested all the different chokes on the kinds of targets we normally see in 3 gun.
  2. I’m dying to know what the cause of this turns out to be….any luck solving the mystery with all the above suggestions yet?
  3. Wife and I shoot Tarheel 3gun series and this is about equal distance to what we travel for that. We are in! Saw the website….with a round count of 100 pistol, 100 rifle, 100 shotgun and 10 slugs it should be worth the cash although I do agree 50 is a little on the steep side. We are also shooting the Palmetto match in Clinton SC this weekend. Exciting to see these matches coming to the area!
  4. Oh…just saw that you tried some other ammo. Not likely but if you didn’t gauge it, it could be the problem.
  5. Are you using reloads or factory ammo and do you case gauge the ammo you shoot? If the rounds are feeding partially and getting lodged in the chamber it could be the ammo. If you case gauged the ammo then you can eliminate this possibility. If not I’d check it out. If you always reload on the same press and this suddenly became an issue maybe check your dies.

    17 or 19

If I had to buy one and only one of the two you chose it would be a 17 RTF2. But I am 6’4” and can conceal it easily. For most people I would pick the 19 for ease of concealment and it can still be used with good effect for competition. I started with a Glock 19 as it was all I had and made it to Master in USPSA with my carry G17 before switching to the 34. How deep down the rabbit hole do you want to go? I now carry a G17 with the grip reduced, stipled and cut to a G19 length. It is the best of both worlds for me with the longer sight radius, slightly better ballistics and the concealabilty of the 19 ( I carry IWB so the slide length is really no big deal). You really can’t go wrong with either at the end of the day.
  7. Thanks Jesse, I give that a shot if the new screws don't work.
  8. Thanks Mark….. WILCO. First class as always.
  9. Like others said it is fine. I use the Glockworx extended steel guide rod and have at multiple major matches.
  10. Gents, Thanks for the replies. I PM my gear before every match whether it’s 3 gun, USPSA, or IDPA just like I inspect and case gauge every round. Some things are just common sense. I just thought I remembered the instructions saying not to use locktite and wanted to make sure it wasn’t part of the design for them to break loose with impact before I did work on my kit that cost hundreds of dollars. Mark, As far as I can tell they are as tight as the setup allows. If I attempt to tighten more the screw just pops and skips. I’m going to locktite them and call it a day. On a side note I have some extra clips is there a way to just order the backers for the SSL4 pinwheels? Didn’t see that as an option on the website. Thanks again.
  11. I have been using Carbon Arms Pinwheels mounted on my ELS belt and they work great with one minor issue. The clips work themselves loose rather frequently either from being bumped around during matches or just from snatching shells out during repeated loading practice. I assembled them with the washers according to the directions and thought I remember the directions saying specifically NOT to use any type of lock tite….then again that could have been another piece of gear….who can remember? My question is, if anybody has had similar issues and if so are you guys just using lock tite, different washers, anything? It is not catastrophic but it gets a little old having to bust out the allen wrench all the time. My only thought is perhaps they are designed to break loose to protect the clips from breaking when they take a hard impact?
  12. Do you feel that the finger grooves do not line up as good now that your hand sits slightly higher due to the undercut? Im contemplating doing this to my G24. The gun feels like magic in my hand but I had to go pull it out of the safe and really look at it to make sure before I answered your question. No issue with the finger grooves at all. I did reduce them a little bit but even if I hadn’t I think it would be fine. I’ve actually been using this frame with my 34 upper and internals for 3 gun and I love shooting it. My new favorite by far.
  13. Aha….just looked at the website and answered my own question. All classic targets again this year.
  14. Fantastic match last year at the Cherokee Gun Club. Looking forward to this one. Well worth the trip! One question….will it be all classic targets again this year or will there be metric targets as well?
  15. and now under the correct user name…. I read all three of Ben’s books over a two day road trip and found them very valuable. I like to see a book written from the perspective of a production shooter and he has an ability to break things down very simply where others tend to be long winded. I really like what he has to say about grip, recoil control and the importance (or not importance) of seeing the sights track the same way every single time. Also like what he has to say about the “seeing what you need to see and ONLY seeing what you need to see “ and the pitfall this can lead to in practice. Why not see more if you are able? To Nimitz question. I would say just pick drills that address what you assess to be areas you need the most improvement on. Work them until you plateau and then move to the next. If you have a one second draw already you probably don’t need to spend all you time doing draws. It would seem that you could focus elsewhere and all the draws incorporated in other drills would be enough for maintenance of the skill.
  16. Nice work gents! I’ve never even considered the silicone carbide option……Great……now I need another Glock!

I moved from sevigny to sevigny rear and dawson front for the brighter fiber optic, to these. Honestly they are all pretty comparable but I prefer these for reasons previously stated. I was using the .100 or was it .110 wide by .245 tall Dawson with the Sevigny rear. This gave a lot of room on either side of the front sight. These are a little tighter but still plenty of light on each side of the front blade. Of all three I find the Warrens to have the dimmest front dot mostly due to the shorter length of exposed fiber optic. I use green inserts and like it as bright as possible. Walnut Creek eh? I was born there…. just don’t tell anybody else I’m originally from Cali….wait….public forum….damn!!!

So glad you like them! I’ve used them in USPSA, IDPA and 3gun now. Lots of small steel in the 3gun and they work great!
  19. To me weighting the magazine with dummy rounds is so important. An empty magazine feels and handles so much different than a round loaded with 10 for production or 22-23 for my 3 gun setup. The difference between empty and 22 rounds is huge and practicing with an empty mag would be less than ideal. Sounds like you are making the dummy rounds but if anybody shoots a Glock you can get weighted training magazines from Next Level Training. They are pretty neat and come with weights you can change the orientation and quantity around to match the weight and balance of you factory mags exactly. They are made for their SIRT pistol but will fit in the actual gun as well.
  20. I agree with this 100 percent. I used to dry practice with a par time ALL the time and found it hurt me a little. Now I focus on executing the technique perfectly and really seeing what I need to see to get two perfect A zone hits. I use the Par timer still as a check and to occasionally push the speed. Using it all the time though I found the focus became beating the buzzer and not what it actually should be.
  21. As one of the previous posters stated the only time I’ve seen it beneficial to intentionally bypass a target or take a Miss if if they are disappearing targets and therefore no penalty “Mikes”. A good example was at the NC sectional Match two years ago. There was an array of three targets that you had to pull a long wire attached to a board to pull the targets up and hold them up. Once you let it go they fell. That left you the option to engage them strong hand or take the extra time to pin the board between you body and the table to engage them freestyle. In the end it is all about the HF. Assuming a HF of 5 for a field course and assuming you would have shot 6 Alphas you would need to engage those targets in 6 seconds which sounds like a lot until you realize the activator is akward, the targets are at a substantial distance for strong hand, if you are shooting prod, rev, L10 it cost you an extra reload and in the case of this stage a lot of extra ground traveled as well. Most chose to bypass it. One important caveat is you MUST activate the target. To do this you simply bypass it shoot the stage then before unloading and after your last shot, casually walk over and pull the activator. You could take all the time in the world to do this since the timer stops on your last shot fired.
  22. I’ve been running Dawson Precsions with a ZEV magwell and they fit fine (140mm). Out of 4 magazines I would have had to file two followers but then I realized I was installing them all on newer Gen 4 style mags. I then just picked some of my older magazines and had zero issue with the followers.
  23. Nice!!! Rockin the silver like a boss!

    TTI sights

Got to take the new sights out to the range yesterday. I am really very happy with them. I ran all my standard drills with them and shot a plate rack as far back as 35yards. I found them to be fast, accurate and the ratio of front sight width to rear notch width works very well. I shoot 147gr Montana Golds loaded to a 130 power factor. They were point of aim point of impact out to 25yds. Beyond that I “shoot the dot” using the center of the dot as my aim point rather than the top of the sight and the plates were falling no problem. This weekend they will tested in a both USPSA and IDPA. Nice video BTW…..really good quality camera work!
