I have a few people ask how the Alpha 3 compares to the SRO. The dot sizes are much smaller and not ideal for pistol shooting in bright sunlight. Illumination levels are wasted to accommodate operators with night vision settings. The FTP dot is brighter at peak illumination levels and offers more illumination levels. The bezel of the lens on the SRO is thick and will add more protection if dropped but obscures the target more as a compromise. The glass is egg/round shaped while the FTP version is optimized to track the dot under recoil in the upper portion of the lens. The dot sizes on the SRO are not optimal for pistol competition shooting. The SRO is heavier and the price point is much higher. The FTP Optic has a motion sensor to extend battery and diode life while the SRO does not. I hope that helps!

The mags needs tuned in the area where it transitions from double stack to single stack. I didn't have a single one that ran reliably out of the box. Grams tuned mine and they worked great after that.

It's all risk and reward. Given the difficulty of the shot, will your time savings likely contribute to a higher hit factor given the chance you will likely drop some points. Obviously major and minor scoring come into play as well. As stated, you need to learn your limits and then figure out what works for you.

We sell about 60 % 8 MOA to 40 % 6 MOA on our optics if that helps. You can't go wrong with either but I personally like the brighter 8 MOA dot under the desert sun and don't find that there is any accuracy issue given the distances we shoot in IPSC and USPSA

With all due respect Eric and J.J could win matches shooting any open gun. But with that being said, they were both 38 super/comp and the Czechmate is only available in 9mm. The Tanfo has a very short comp and relies on the barrel porting to keep the gun flat. It take a lot more powder when you have a V12 set up so you probably would have trouble making major in 9mm like that.

I shot them with the new and old barrel designs. The frame cracked with the new barrel design. The hole slide stop mechanism on the Czechmate puts too much stress on the frame, barrel and slide stops for competition use. The slide cyclic speed is also much faster than a 1911/2011. The gun would be fine for people that don't shoot that much but I put 20-30K rounds a year down the barrel of my competition guns and it just didn't hold up. I had two of them BTW. I even went so far to try the DPMS system and increase the stroke to try and make the gun live longer. I am predicting that with Eric Grauffel on the team, you are going to see a completely new Czechmate design in the near future.

I shot a Czechmate for a few years and it was not reliable. The barrels would break where the slide stop goes through at random intervals and parts took forever to order in as no one stocked them. I also had a frame crack where the slide stop goes through. They needs to be beefed up in these areas and CZ did not seem interested in doing so. There is a reason you don't see many of these being shot in competition!

Hi Everyone, I've had a few people email and ask about what are the features that we feel make the Alpha 3 stand above the crowd so I thought I would just post it here. Some other brands feature some of the features but they don't have all of them Competition Orientated Brightness Levels – Levels increase incrementally with no wasted settings for low level light or night settings. The highest settings even work in the bright desert sun! The levels are increased with one button and decreased with the other. Other optics cycle through all the settings with one button and go from bright to almost invisible accidentally when adjusting. That's so annoying. Also, the buttons located on the side mean you don't have to worry about accidentally touching or smudging the lens like some brands that use a top mount button. Anti reflective high clarity glass – Optimized for maximum light transmission while minimizing reflections. Glass is bright and clear. We spared no expense to make the glass as high quality as possible. Auto shut off – Saves your battery by shutting down the optic when no motion is detected for 3 minutes. As soon as you move the optic, it will turn back on at the last illumination level Soft Touch Buttons – No more having to press hard to change illumination settings or turning the optic off. Just a gentle touch is needed. You will wonder how you ever managed to living without it! Instant on button. Nothing is worse than forgetting to turn on your red dot at the line. Our optic will turn on at the last illumination setting just by pressing any of the two side buttons for a split second. Other optics like the Sig MAX require you to hold down the on button for a few seconds to turn it on. That will be an eternity on the timer when panic sets in and you can’t find the dot. No locking screw required for elevation and drift. You don’t have to worry about tightening a little set screw that can get stripped or come loose. Our micro click adjustments require no locks to maintain the hold! This little screw is lost or often stripped on other brands. Large Glass size with extra width in the top portion of the glass. When you track the dot under recoil, you use the top portion of the glass. Other competitors are wide at the bottom which is not very useful. Our glass design allows you to transition and track the dot much easier under recoil. Change batteries without re-zeroing the optic. The slide out tray makes battery swaps quick and easy. A standard 2032 battery means not having to search for difficult to find batteries Included rubber optic cover. It's ridiculous that some brands don't come with a cover at all. Ours is rubber so it doesn't crack.

You can actually make major under SAAMI specs using 3N38 and 147 projectile so I would say it's one of the better powders for pressure. You will also see some gun manufacturers that make open guns will only warranty their guns if you use this powder.

The Ultimate Optic Mount The FTP Optics mount is a once piece design that is cut from billet aluminum. This gives it the ultimate in strength and reliability. There are no pins to fall out or multiple pieces that can come loose. They feature a standard 5 hole mounting pattern and are available in anodized satin silver or black. Fits The Most Popular Optics The FTP mount will work with the following optics: FTP Optics Alpha 2 FTP Optics Alpha 3 C-More RTS2 Sig Romeo Max Sig Romeo Max XL Mounting: The FTP mount is designed to keep the mount as low as possible to the slide to reduce parallex which is one of the signifcant advantages of the micro dots over the slide ride style top mount optics. Due to this design, a flat topped slide is generally required. The drill pattern is the standard 5 holes at .375" spacing. The mount is designed to provide additional clearance to zig rackers which can interfere with some other brands of optic mounts. The mount includes a pair of M4-12 screws to secure the optic to the mount. You may need to cut the screws to length to ensure they do not contact your slide. A set of five 5-40 screws to attach the mount to the frame of the gun are available as an option. Please verify the screw type for your firearm. It is recommended to use blue loctite to secure the screws from the optic to the mount and red loctite to secure the mount to the frame.

It's the same as the RTS but is slightly longer at the front so if you have a blast shield, you will have to clearance it slightly. It would use the exact same mount at the Sig Max. We will have mounts in stock shortly.

Here is the FTP Optics Alpha 3 as another option for you. The glass side is very similar to the SRO with features like the Max. It is available in 6 or 8 MOA. It has the special lens coating like the Max to give clear glass, more light transmission and less glare. We also have the motion sensor but set up in a more favorable way for competition shooters than the Max. Our sensor will turn the dot off after 3 minutes of no motion and then right back on at last intensity as soon as motion is recognized. Just a quick note to let people know we will have mounts with a blast shield to fit out sight in about a month. They will also fit the Sig Romeo 3 Max (gee I wonder why ;) )
