  1. I used their 155, 165 and 180 plated buckets with WST and it was in the range higdon gave online. I would use jacketed info, start at the bottom and work up. For length I think the last time I did SWC in my R1 I was around 1.22 but honestly forget. Their flat nose bullets ran in my Sig 229 just fine and I've thought about using those for my 1911 in USPSA.
  2. While they don't have specific load data they DO publish that their plated bullets can go 1000FPS. when I picked up my bullets the guy asked if I had the Speer manual and said I would be safe with the jacketed or lead info but basic knowledge of the difference helps/applies.
  3. Faster when its cold, slower when its hot? I bumped mine up to 4.6 and I'm going to test them maybe as soon as this weekend. Yes. And it's not just the temp of the ammo, you have to factor in the ambient temp, the gun temp, humidity, etc...All I can say is with 35 years reloading, and using WST for matches in the late '80's, is it is a real issue. Not insurmountable but frustrating. Interesting . I will have to check this out personally. It gets below 30 here so I'd expect a HUGE difference with 50-80 degree shifts.
  4. 4.1 grains WST. CCI primer. 1.160". Xtreme 165 gr plated was 129 power factor in my P229 today. 86F and I'm concerned it will speed up when it gets cold because people say it is inverse temp sensitive.
  5. I just used 4.0 gr with some 180 gr xtreme bullets today. Around 85F here and out of my P229 I averaged 756FPS. 1.160" CCI Small Rifle Primers I think, they might have been pistol but I can't be for sure only because I primed the brass so long ago and have been shooting 45 for so long.
  6. Buy Ben stoeger s new book. Listen to his podcast. One thing he says to do is to TRY with a timer to hit times you don't think you can. It trains your hands to move fast and shows you what speed you have to be at.
  7. Email your club. This happened to me and they corrected it. I did, and they did! In fact, the correction was in and acknowledged ahead of the wrong data getting there - awesome on both sides (local and national). I'll still have to wait a month for that one though, as the match's submission was after the deadline, but no worries. Glad it worked out for you. I'm right on the edge and shot a B in a classifier so I wanted to make sure it showed up. It will probably out me into C but I should be there already. One whole classifier didn't get sent in and that was 6 stages I shot C. Oh well.
  8. Awesome! I'm at 5 matches and my first two classifiers were a disaster from penalties when I took extra shots, or hit no shots. This weekend my goal was slow down and no penalties, and with that got my best classifier yet at 49.11%. Hopefully it will make the data submit - they messed up my USPSA #, and I didn't catch that on site, so that last good one might not make it this month in the calculation. Email your club. This happened to me and they corrected it.
  9. If I could do it over I'd either buy just Powermags or wait until Wilson puts the 47D on sale. Labor Day Wilson had theirs for $27. Tripp, Powermag and 47D mags all have components available. If you decide you want to add a mag well like the Dawson Ice you will be able to find new base pads. Also, the difference between the shooting star and power mags IS worth the difference and IS noticeable. Easier to take apart and stronger spring.
  10. Do it and report back. Like in the olden days before the Internet when people just did stuff lol.
  11. KT Tape. I use it for runners knee. Shit works. Ran a half marathon and didn't feel it.
  12. I did paleo. Gluten free is acceptable under paleo but that's where it ends. Paleo doesn't say to eat only gluten free. Just no carbs so its very similar to Atkins. It works. Just don't be surprised when food you loved before tears you up inside after.
  13. Oh, well. Oh, well. Better tell everyone who shoots right now with a 1911 and 10 round magazine they need to buy a new gun to shoot.
  14. Faster when its cold, slower when its hot? I bumped mine up to 4.6 and I'm going to test them maybe as soon as this weekend.
  15. Shooting this today. Te second string seems to be the toughest with the reload. It's deceiving how slow the first string is and how fast the second string is. I forgot about the circle mikes. Score to be posted later. Easier than I expected. First string my gun didn't load the 5th shot and I didn't get to the last shot on string 2. I guess I went over my time on one shot but I'm happy. 61 points. Single stack. 67.7768
  16. Interesting. I will check this out for myself and note it accordingly to see a difference in speed.
  17. Soot your best. Don't sandbag. Keep yourself in a lower class and continually place in the top until a classifier, no thanks. I'd rather compete against myself and see how I'm doing.
  18. I bring my iPad and gear on road trips and practice in the hotel room. Might have to bring along targets and tape now too.
  19. http://www.amazon.com/Champion-Shooting-Process-Success-ebook/dp/B00A2VR1SG/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1377752747&sr=1-7&keywords=brian+enos I have it on the kindle app on my iPad. Also goes to my phone.
  20. I'm in. Due to some misunderstandings on my part and scores not being posted I'm a D. I have missed the past few matches due to previous engagements including a few weddings but I also bought the newest book from Brian Enos and my goal is B by next Christmas in Single Stack. This weeks classifier should confirm my D status. 39.86% - dirtychemist (A80379) Single Stack 32.75% - Bevenue (TY82251) Production 28.54% - melissa5 (A77077) Open 27.08% - Zoomy (TY79706) Limited 0.00% - johnsons1480 (A82568) Production 0.00% - Agney5 (A80562) Limited 0.00% - CE325 (A76086) Limited 0.00% - TreborSnave (A82155) Revolver 0.00% - shtr3 (A81488) Limited 0.00% - trgt (A81079) Production
  21. Used my Alpha Chrony on my loads. Turns out 4.2 grains and 1.22" is only 666 average with plated bullets from extreme. Shortened them to 1.21 to see if that makes up for the lack of speed. Only reason I found out was I had extra time at the range and setup the chrony for someone else to test their bullets.
  22. After realizing how much of a difference the Dawson magwell makes I have to make this same change. If I want to be cheap, I'll use one of my mags at the beginning of the stage. This saves me the number of mags I have to buy. I can use the mag but it takes extra effort to seat it because the base is slightly wider than the magwell likes. After playing with it I've decided I DON'T want to use this magazine in the middle of the stage. I'm probably going with the CMC shooting star magazines but I SHOULD honestly go with the power mags and, over time, replace all of my magazines with power mags. The shooting starts haven't given me many problems but I HAVE had them fail to lock the slide back for one reason or another. I can't say that about my Smith & Wesson factory magazines or the PowerMag I've used. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference in the strength of the springs in the power mag. I thought it was a gimmick until I had both in my hand and load them.
  23. I'm a C shooter and I use the 15 minute drill. After some practice I can get the first shot off at 1.5 seconds but average is around 1.7. I don't practice anything but first shot. What is the point? So you can get your sight picture in 1 second but if it takes you another second to take the shot I'm ahead of you on an average day. I think it depends how people measure it. Are we racing the clock to hit that X.X second mark or are we actually getting our finger on the trigger and lining up the sights etc.
  24. This. If someone is assigned magazines and brass for the person who just shot the SHOOTER won't have to worry about their brass. With tapers etc. you'll have everything lined up and ready to go. The problem is when people get to talking or bored and don't want to tape or forget etc.
