  1. So, I did an experiment with my Open gun, and I went 2000 rounds with out cleaning or applying oil to it, I think I could have run it longer, but that was all I was willing to test for. I am not a Gun Oil band wagon lemming and I have used only Pennzoil 5W-30 full Synth oil for years on all my guns. And with using CFE Pistol it has allowed the gun to run clean for longer. I am thinking it will be a once a month cleaning cycle for my open pistol at this point, or about 750-1000 rounds.
  2. I am not sure how it can be a rule for a match that Charles Sole runs, as he is a 3GN MD (Or last I knew he was), and 3GN has no rules other then burning a round about long guns having to be shouldered at all. If it is in the 3Gun Nation rules it is not in any rule book I can find on-line. Maybe you should ask them to show you this in print at the next match and you can tell us on what page or napkin it is written on?
  3. "Must have stock attached and must be fired from shoulder position. **Note: Sig Brace and any variant thereof is not allowed—must be attached to the carbine and fired from the shoulder**" what happens when we don't? Procedural per shot fired? Maybe there should be a rule tied to that, not a new rule, but that is the penalty?
  4. I heard 100yrd min, on 4 inch plates hiden by hard cover backed by No-Shoots.
  5. All good points, and I am glad this is being presented, I agree with all points so far. So then I will come back to why is it a DQ in 3GN when burning a round? what makes that any less safe then just shooting at a target for score?
  6. Good question, I am thinking if we want to shoot carbine and not pistol, it should be shot like a carbine? I am not sure if there is a inherent saftey issue with shooting from the hip with a rifle at a match, but I am sure there are some that will.
  7. OK, In the last few weeks I have had a lot of shooters ask me about shooting a long gun from the anywhere other then the shoulder was DQ'able? So I started looking, what I have found is that in 3GN rules it is a DQ per rule - 2 2. .8 8 Discharging or “Burning” the last round(s) to empty the chamber, unload a firearm or to load a different projectile is admissible, but it must be pointed and done so at a legal target or in a safe direction. Long guns must be fired from the shoulder while “burning” a round if done in a direction other than a legal target for intended firearm being handled. Competitors’ failing to keep long guns shouldered while “burning” any round(s) in a direction other than a legal target is considered a Negligent Discharge and will result in a match DQ. (Rule 2.2.3, 2.2.6 And while it says "Long guns must be fired from the shoulder while "BURNING" a round..." it never says anywhere else that during the COF you must have a long gun shouldered to shoot in the rules? But in USPSA/IPSC it is not, and there are no specific rules on this subject, so as long as you don't toss one over the berm shooting like Jesse the Body Venture with your PCC 9mm at the local USPSA match no harm no DQ. So the question I have is this, Should we have statement in the Rules (all thee sports) about this, should we make all long gun shots be from the shoulder? And I admit I was under the impression that it was a DQ today in all three sports for any shot fired from a long gun not shouldered, I appear to be wrong on this. I have checked with DNROI and IPSC Long Gun Rules head, and they have confirmed in these two rule sets it is not a DQ to fire from the "Hip" or not shouldered. With PCC becoming a thing in USPSA I am thinking maybe we should have this be a rule.
  8. You can try a Nitried finish safe Lube like Gibbs, it will not lift the duracoat off the metal. it is great at lifting the carbon off the metal. http://www.gibbsbrandlubricant.com/ Once it is clean protect it with a Lanolin based lube. I use Fluid Film as it is viscous and stays on the metal. http://www.fluid-film.com/
  9. I am not sure your math is right on that G-ManBart. I see on the MG site, 124gr JHP for $360 a case of 3750 projectiles. that is 10.7 cents per, or $107 per 1K. Not a huge delta, but for some 11 bucks will make all the diffirence in the world for some reason.
  10. Hello JD83, this Sat February 20th there is a USPSA Match in the area. Here is the range web page. http://cavrpc.org/ And the USPSA Club page. http://www.grbuspsa.com/ Come on out and watch, shoot if you are ready to just in.
  11. Don't think we need a ruling, as it is already covered. The USPSA rule book is a list of exclusions, things you cant do, not what is allowed. DNROI response (Opinion) clarifies what a WSB can tell you what to do on that stage.
  12. I don't get "non-members are shooting matches and taking slots from USPSA members"???? Yes, In A8 there many matches if you don't sign up within minutes of sign up opening you are on a wait list. Don't get me wrong we need new members, and we should bring more with us when we go to matches. But the habit of "old Club" members that come to matches at the "home" club take all the slots and never pay USPSA Member dues and the club either does not send in scores because they cant afford to pay the fees to USPSA. as they had more non-members shoot (sometimes at a discounted rate) than paid USPSA members to make it worth while. Scores are on Practiscore go look, oh your a USPSA member and you shot a real good classifier.. Oh well. Oh wait now we start to blend topical issues, like score reporting, match attendance, club affiliation renewal.....
  13. Why not? Provide new shooters with a "Try It" match a local club, maybe 2. but then after that why would they not join. If non-members are shooting matches and taking slots from USPSA members at local matches that is not right. With a partnership of gun manufactures, USPSA could provide marketing material with a "Free" club match for new shooters.
  14. Thomas, How is this restricting free style? Reloads come from someplace other then your belt, did that make you shoot T-1 standing on your head or clucking like a chicken?. the only thing it did was make your plan based on the staging of where your mags where placed for you to get them to reload. Everyone is looking at this as if this is some gross violation of 1.1.5, but it is not, no more then starting the stage with unloaded gun is, or having to run to a port to shoot the last target. What Bassman posted it correct, reloading per the WSB from the "Prop" and not picking up the mag putting it in a pouch, and then reloading with it is the correct way to read this. In no way should this be viewed as an infringement of free style at all.
  15. ^ has nothing to do with Mags or where they come from or after the beep
  16. So Classifiers don't follow the Rules is what you are saying. Because that is what it sounds like you are saying.
  17. Mini Mart CM 99-21. Discussion done, WSB states where Mags can come from, there for if the WSB says mags/ammo HAVE to come from Table/Prop then that is where they have to come from.
  18. 10K is about right if you are not changing calibers and it is steady state. I load a lot of various stuff, even with two machines I change tool heads a lot. but at 10K I tear it down.
  19. But had the OP gone to the back of his car it would have been ok, what is the difference if he did it there or next to the stage. 3Gun Nation has some very lax rules regarding what is and what is not a "safe area", why is the trunk or bed of a truck safer then on the ground next to the stage? Than again I have seen "safe areas" at other matches that were anything but, No defined "area", people handling guns and pointing them where ever.... Some peoples kids should not own firearms.... what I know that it is not loaded.... Bang.
  20. I would like to see any info on Carry Optics adding any level of additinal participation at all. Hell I would like to see the data used by the BOD on even moving it forward as a division. I know at the matches I shoot (6-8 every month) I might see 1 shooter in CO. That is not busting at the seams demand for a new division.
  21. ^ being self aware and having character will lead you down this path. I can not tell you how many times I have see, or heard of shooters that KNOWNLY did something unsafe and not getting caught laugh about it carry on. When you try and tell them what they did was wrong they don't get it, that is the really sad part.
  22. Nick, that is my point, for an RO to make a call that sends someone home from a match, clear defenitions make all the diffirence in the world. Even in USPSA there is no CLEAR start of the reload, it is just the insertion or replenishment of ammo.... where does it start. at the mag button push?
  23. Nick, I dont know it looked like he started the reload, and broke the cheek weld of the stock, and the stock was coming off his shoulder. I think this is the same issue we have in all shooting sports, when is the reload started, it cant be "intent" to reload, but there is clear movement that would lead one to think he is in the process. weak hand off the forearm of the rifle, cheek weld broken....
  24. So this is a 3 Gun Nation match, and while I am not versed in the specific rules of 3 Gun Nation, it would appear that this is "During the Reload" and in sports like USPSA that is a DQ. under very specfic rules. Can someone put a link or rule section for this in 3 GN?
