  1. How do you install the pin in the hammer and strut it is to big for the hammer but fits the strut fine. ??? Thanks SR
  2. Does the hammer follow when you shoot it ?
  3. Try adjusting the sear spring tighter which is the left leg on the spring under the main spring housing.
  4. If they are reloads it could be high primer every so often. Have you tried to shoot them a second time ?
  5. Dawson Ice is a great magwell.
  6. Get an Aftec extractor for 38 super comp and be done with it..
  7. I am not a gunsmith but I would guess paperweight.
  8. I had a 9mm Edge, Grams followers and springs, stock spacers inside of STI mags. MGB 124 CMJ and it ran flawless.
  9. I used to use win small rifle until the shortage and all I could get was win small mag primers and they work just as well as the rifle primers.
  10. I totally agree. But when you can't get any results from the factory what do you do ? Turn it into a $3,500 paper weight or put in a couple hundred more dollars so at least you can use it. I call it the STI tax. It's like the Harley tax you pay over $20,000 for the bike then you spend another $2,500 on Pipes, Air cleaner, EFI tuner and Dyno tuning to make it rideable.
  11. I sent my SteelMaster back to STI and they kept it for a month and didn't fix it. I don't think they can. Save yourself some frustration and get the Aftec extractor, Brazos tuned ejector and offset mount. The offset is still a vertical mount. You will never have another malfunction due to the brass hitting the scope.
  12. Wilson or Ed Brown. I believe the Wilson is a little higher than the EB but definitely lower than the STI.
  13. My SteelMaster did the same I installed an Aftec sxtractor, a Brazos tuned ejector, and a Brazos offset scope mount and never had another problem.
  14. If you shoot the gun it will loosen up hard chrome or any other finish. I had a Gans open gun ( blued ) that the frame to slide fit was still very good after thousands of rounds (still not as tight as new). I have a hard chromed open gun built by a top of the line smith that has less than half the rounds through it and it loosened up more than the Gans . So it is my experience that if you shoot it it will loosen up no matter what finish or who built it. So just shoot till it breaks, fix it, shoot it till it breaks, fix it.......
  15. I would get the Trojan. The STI will probably be a lot more reliable right out of the box than the Colt and it doesn't have the firing pin block which I believe the Colt would have.
  16. Oak Hill has some pretty good prices with free shipping.
  17. I am leaning toward Cerakote. This will be my back up gun and won't get shot that much (hopefully). My main gun is a Brazos and it's hard chromed. Thanks for the help, SR
  18. I would think you would get some hammer follow with a trigger that light.
  19. As 1911Prof said to have the durability but still have a black gun. Thanks, SR
  20. I am thinking probably not but thought I would ask. It would be nice to have the durability of hard chrome and whatever color you might want on top of it.
  21. Should I have it hard chromed right off or cerakote it shoot it for a while and then have it hard chromed ?? It will be my back up gun. Thanks, SR
  22. How does it hold up on the safeties, grip and thumb with a lot of use ?
