  1. Prochrony digital. It always works, is simple to set up and use, and not that expensive.
  2. I use N320 for most or my 45 ACP loads, lead of jacketed. 231/HP-38 is my next choice.
  3. This ^^^^ 1. remove the failsafe rod from the powder throw bellcrank 2. remove the two pins holding the tool head in the frame 3. remove the tool head with the powder measure 4. pour powder back into original container, shake it a little and again pour out whatever is left. 5. then hold the tool head upright with the powder drop over your container and hand cycle the bellcrank and powder throw a couple of times....and then it is totally empty. Takes longer to describe than it does to perform. A few additional tips (discovered the hard way): - write the powder type that is in the hopper on some blue tape and stick it to the outside of the hopper - never have more than one container of powder on your bench at one time - and that is the one you are currently using - use a funnel when pouring powder (coleman makes a nice aluminum funnel for use with their white gas stoves and lanterns, no static build up) - Personally, I don't leave powder in the hopper any more unless it is just for a short break. Never know what might happen Good Luck with your load development! Same method, but I use can air to blow out anything that might be left. Yep, same thing here. Dump out, cycle, blow out with air compressor.
  4. Every time I've got around to trying VV powder for something I've been pleasently surprised. First happened with N320 and 45 ACP. Same experiance as others, softer/less sharp recoil and clean. Now I just buy their powder from the start. It's locally available and gets me where I want to go with less load development.
  5. ...need to buy more eggnog.

  6. Is there a sportmans warehouse anywhere near you? They'll have a good selection of VV powder. I used HP-38 for a while before replacing it with N320.
  7. Boretech's stuff has very little smell. The eliminator doesn't have a pleasant smell, but it's barely noticable. Their C4 carbon remover has a nice wintergreen smell.
  8. The one that always made me laugh was Mike Hunt. One of those say it three times fast type of things.
  9. I have no idea how you would convince the wife, but I want.
  10. I use one of those magnetic angle gauges to check what my eyes are telling me since that's what I happen to have around.
  11. I bought a box a couple months ago. To my surprise two rounds had serious flaws. One had a bullet seated way too deep, almost bottomed out deep. Another had a crushed bullet.
  12. I buy Dardas bullets and am totally satisfied. Have used them in 45 ACP and 45 Colt. Like HostileHabitat said I don't think they keep a bunch of stock around, but this doesn't stop them getting your order to you in about a week. Needless to say fresh is better than a box that's sat on a shelf for months. They give you size options, three quantity options, large quantity discounts, and cheap shipping.
  13. The only disadvantage of lead is the smoke. You can cut this down by experimenting with different bullets and powders.
  14. Thirty minutes is the closest rifle range for me. Five minutes to a spot for handguns.
  15. I've settled on Dardas bullets. From 80-100 per thousand depending on bullet.
  16. I've put a bunch of Sierra 230 FMJ with N340 and N320 over a chronograph. Here's my most recent data and the notes I wrote at the time. Colt 1991 Commander Sierra 230 FMJ 1.265 Oal .470 Crimp 6.2 N340 Av. 790 Es. 24 Sd. 11 (dirty) 6.3 N340 Av. 823 Es. 52 Sd. 19 (cleaner) 6.5 N340 Av. 851 Es. 05 Sd. 02 (cleanest, should of tried 6.4) 5.2 N320 Av. 790 Es. 29 Sd. 12 (soft recoil) 5.3 N320 Av. 823 Es. 26 Sd. 09 (very nice) Comparing N320 and N340 in 45 is great fun. The 5.3 of N320 and 6.3 of N340 went the same speed but felt totally different. If you want a solid 850 pick N340, if your all right with around or just over 800 pick N320. My 2 cents.
