  1. Last year was shotgun light, year before had a smidge more if I remember correctly. Plan for 1-2 slightly shotgun heavy stages. With all the long range rifle potential there (awesome btw), I typically bring enough rifle ammo to shoot the match a few times.
  2. As long as the video helps a few people, I'm happy.
  3. The RO stopped you, as he should IMO, and if the RO stopped your progress in the stage you should get a reshoot.I shot the Pro side and the RO did not stop me when there was a range malfunction. A paper target fell, I paused long enough to say "what the _______" and started shooting when I realized he wasn't stopping me, sending 5 rds at a target laying on its side on the ground before engaging the last 4 targets. I was given the target on the ground and not given the reshoot since I kept shooting. If I would have stood there and demanded a reshoot, I would have likely received it after the discussion with the RM when politely arguing getting a reshoot. On the flip side, if I stop shooting, demand a reshoot and don't get it....I get 60 seconds in FTE's on that stage. IMO.....when the RO stops the progress of the stage for anything other than a DQ, it should be grounds for a reshoot. If I have a squib, and I notice it, I should be allowed to safely abandon it in a dump barrel and continue with shotgun/rifle and accept my FTE's. If the RO will not allow me to continue, regardless if the squib exists or not, then I think you should be allowed a reshoot instead of being forced to eat FTE's on the other two guns.
  4. The real question is...if you warn him BEFORE he falls in the manhole, will you be arrested for coaching??? Only if you are whispering "left, left, left" loud enough where the shooter can hit it, but hopefully light enough that the RO cant. I have to agree with Kurt tho......safety isn't an area where we yell "big boy rules"
  5. Thanks guys......now I need to learn that tiny gun on my hip!
  6. The 3GN Regional was one of the best run and organized matches I've been to......Mother Nature played a big part in any delays. I have to agree with Jesse on the half day format....even a 3 day half day format. It would really help improve attendance with vendors IMO, and help make it even better than it already is.
  7. I have to admit......I WISH I had started in USPSA before getting into 3-gun, but my first match was a 3-Gun match and any pistol matches since have been for 3-gun practice.
  8. All I know is that I don't want to shake hands with this Tischauser guy right before a stage.....I still don't know how you grip your pistol with all that tanning lotion! Please tell me it's tanning lotion.
  9. Or not being competitive shooting pistol at all for me. FIFY trust me.....I can miss as fast as anyone with my pistol, just never fast enough to win.
  10. Or not shooting pistol at all for me. Could you clarify your position tho...
  11. On a side note from Jesse trampling my hopes and dreams....I have TWO Luth-Ar stocks and love them. Go show them some love.
  12. The line is ANY place you can stop them from damaging themselves or others when it is something you can feasibly catch. If YOU think you notice a squib, do you stop the shooter, or let them continue firing? If you let them continue firing because "I'm not gonna hold your hand"....I wouldn't want you as an RO at any match I attend, whether I'm the shooter or a spectator. We can't go around inspecting ammo and trying to figure out if any of your rounds are 1 grain too heavy, or 2-3 grains too light. We DO stop people from using crossdraw holsters, we stop people from having hot pistol chambers when going prone, we remove pocked or damaged steel from the course of fire, and we stop people when we CAN stop a potential issue from happening. I don't want to hold anyone's hand, but common sense, as uncommon as it is becoming, should be utilized when possible.
  13. IMO......you knock your eye/earpro off because you are frustrated, the stage stops and you take your time and FTE penalties at that point. You fall, stumble, catch our earpro on a prop and lose it, you stop and reshoot the stage. Safety is numero uno and shooting stops when risks elevate, details on penalties or reshoots can be figured out later.
  14. It takes more thought indeed, and you guys have done a great job with matches so far....and an even better job of taking constructive criticism from various shooters on how to improve on future stages/matches. <--Something I wish was more welcomed universally. You can eliminate options by making it stupid to run way forward to shoot, then way back to the dump barrel, but IMO...targets are either optional for the match...or not.
  15. I wouldnt go that far personally. I like the optional targets, but stage design becomes even more important. You can make option stages where you're punished for shooting any single go too much. Many option stages tho, lean towards pistol proficiency. I would prefer to see a 33.33% Pistol / 33.33% Shotgun / 33.33% Rifle breakdown that could be adjusted a max of 5% in any direction based upon the options selected....but again, stage design requires a smart fella.
  16. On Stage 6 at the ProAm, I shot all shotgun....and if given the option again, I would have to think hard about it. Shooting all shotgun there, loading smooth, and going one for one while moving would easily yield a 27-28 sec run. I ran it in 35 with 3 make up shots, and going dry while standing still for a port load...wasting valuable time. Up until the array past the doorway on the right, my run was cruising along great and fast. I would have to consider taking those targets while moving to the dump barrel on the left there and finishing with pistol on the last 11 targets along the back. Stage 2...I shot all shotgun after the rifle. The rifle killed me there, then I managed to run dry on the last target, then port load to a miss, then pull pistol for one target....a total nightmare IMO. I would shoot it all shotgun again, loading four down the hill, then four moving to the window....but take a split second longer between shots. Stage 3....optional plates with shotgun/pistol after a single rifle shot. I didn't care for the paper being pistol only all the sudden when it was pistol/rifle on the other stages. It heavily benefitted the pistol shooters. If paper remained pistol/rifle optional, I would have definitely used the rifle for more than one shot! I shot 9 shotgun and went to pistol, which ran great. I'd love to have the exact setup to try all pistol compared to how I ran it. Of course, I'm unclassified in USPSA too. Stage 7....only loading 4 shotgun and able to shoot while trucking down the hill. I'd go with shotgun every time there. I like the concept of optional targets, but oftentimes...there is really ONE good way to shoot it, and you either have that strength or you don't. IMO, if you are going to make targets optional, they need to be optional on all stages throughout the match. IE... allorange steel is rifle/pistol/slug, all paper is rifle/pistol/slug, all white steel is pistol/birdshot. Just my 2 cents.
  17. Tell me more about the party scenario Saturday evening? The match details are neat and all, but what about the party?
  18. FYI the floating target platforms have solid core foam floats on them. You cannot sink them. The penalty for shooting off a plate and having it sink is a match DQ if your name is Dillen. worth it!
  19. I had to bribe jesse to let me shoot the pond stage multiple times....I WILL sink that target!
  20. We have four shooters shooting all day Saturday. One is a junior that couldn't get out if school and his dad. Dillen just wants an excuse why he finished poorly. bwhahahaha.......still sore about the Angry Birds facebook post eh?
  21. Katie Francis was the best RO there....I just feel bad that her dad never showered the whole weekend and stood upwind of where she had to start with the timer! I can't imagine how she shared a hotel room with his boots! I had fun...maybe not as much as last year when all of my guns ran on all of the stages...but I had fun and laughed a lot just the same. Thanks to the RO's on stage 4 for allowing me the time for big deep breaths after my stage....I needed that to remain in control of my volume. Thanks to all the sponsors and vendors there, especially the guys who had the beer......and thank you / I hate you to all the various shooters who kept bringing me beer after beer....after beer... Saturday night until I had to get an AM shooter/buddy to both take me back to my hotel AND bring me back to my vehicle hung over the next morning!
