  1. Have you taken it apart and checked everything? One of the guys I shoot with had an issue with his safety not resetting and when he took it apart, the safety plunger spring was sideways below the plunger. That was causing it to not reset properly all the time.
  2. This and the follower are different so that it can ride inside of the mag with the ribs. The springs are different to.

Leo, the guy at my range that has one is going to let me use his next week. He is going back to his Open gun. I'll post some pics and let you guys know what I think.
  4. +1 all around. Ammo's not available, so I'm saving what I have for competitions and dry firing a lot... and spending my "saved" money on hardware like the quality scopes, holsters, and shot timers that I always wanted/needed but never had the funds to purchase. I'll tell you right now, there's no way in the world I'm going to donate my money to an ammo gouger. As far as I'm concerned, they can be lumped together with the politicians who started this mess. I'm going to agree with you on this, and add to it. After this is all said and done, remember who those price gougers were, and don't give them your business then either.
  5. Why would you be self conscious about using a race master holster? Do you feel it's not secure? I felt a little uneasy with my Ghost holster at first, but with a little dry fire, draw, & re holster practice at home I am very comfortable with it now. Seems more secure than a standard holster to me now.

I'm already using a race holster so it wouldn't be an issue for me. If I hadn't gotten such a great deal on my holster I'd be in the same boat as you.
  7. Use the irons for close in shots and use the sight for longer range.
  8. Or you can find someone near you that will do custom kydex holsters. There are a couple of places near me. I know of one guy at my local range that has an open Glock with a frame mounted optic that has a custom made kydex holster for it.

It replaces the trigger pin. No mods needed and he said installation took all of 2 minutes.
  10. That or why not get an 45 degree offset mounted sight set. Then you wouldn't need to move your scope to use them.

One of the guys I shoot with Leo has one of the SJC thumb rests on his Limited Glock. He likes it, I haven't tried it yet. I may try to borrow it from him one night when he is shooting his Open Glock. Here's a link: http://stores.sjcguns.com/-strse-92/SJC-Glock-Thumb-Rest%2C/Detail.bok
  12. SJC site says it's legal for Open, so I'd be willing to say no.
  13. Arredondos are the easiest to take apart and clean in the field of all the ones I have used. I own Arredondos, and Taylor Freelance. I like the weight of the Taylor, but prefer the Arredondos. I have also tried the Dawsons and the Tarans. They were nice, but I always end up using the Arredondos. When it dusty out and you need to clean any mag you drop after every stage, it makes a big difference. The extensions will work with 9mm, 40S&W, & 357Sig. They also make a larger extension for use with 45ACP and 10mm.
  14. Problem is the casual shooters are learning what we learned years ago, that you should stock up so you don't get caught without ammo to ride these things out. Problem is, they are buying up all that ammo now, at these crazy prices. I was able to walk into Walmart this weekend at 6pm and saw they had some ammo in stock. Picked up a couple of boxes. I tend to use them as a gauge, since they are usually some of the last ones to get restock of ammo for some reason. I'd say we are a couple of months before you can find ammo fairly easy, and about 6 months before we see full shelves again and can walk into any shop and get any caliber ammo you want. Luckily I was able to stock up and can ride this out.
  15. If you are worried about the screw, just run it uncaptured. Most people I know do since they screw tends to loosen up when shooting. Same reason I went from a 2 piece full length guide rod on my 1911 to a 1 piece full length guide rod.

    17 or 19

19 for carry. 17 or 34 for competition use.
  17. Could be this. I don't reload yet, but by ammo from a local reloader. I shoot a Glock 22 in Limited. The reloads I buy shoot much softer and are much quieter than factory loads. Depends on which powder is used, I have been testing a few out. I have borrowed a chrono to test my loads and I do make PF, just barely, but I do. At a local match with no prizes other than pride, I wouldn't worry about it to much.
  18. Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I don't currently have any other classifications in other divisions. I only shoot Limited right now. I used to shoot SS, but never was classified with it. Next time I'll push myself a little.
  19. I got my initial classification a couple months ago. I am a high C, close to B. We did a match at my local club were we did 6 stages, and 5 of them were classifiers. (they do this once a year) I did well on 3 of them, and fudged 2 of them. If I do a couple of good classifiers I could possibly make B. But, when I shoot classifiers, I tend to be more methodical about them, and don't go nearly as fast as I think I can. So my question is, if I go all out a couple of times, but get bad scores due to mistakes, will my classification go down? The way I read the FAQ's on the USPSA website, it won't, but I want to be sure. If it won't go down, then I might try to push myself more on my next few classifiers.
  20. very few people I have seen use a stock trigger. Most at least swap out springs and add a lighter connector.
  21. I got my classification last month. I ended up being a high C, almost a B. We did a event at my local club were we do 6 stages on a Saturday morning and 5 of them are classifiers. I did well on 3 of them and screwed up on 2 of them. 1 or 2 more decent classifiers and I should make B. (hopefully). I have been shooting with a lot of shooters that are better than I am at my local range. Few A's, couple of M's and a GM or 2. Really like shooting the same squad as them. I have been able to learn from them were I was wasting a lot of time on stages. And I was wasting a lot, mostly due to comfort zone. Friend of mine that I shoot with is a D class open shooter. I think she could be a high C or B if she pushed herself some. Been talking to her about that lately.
  22. I really like these pouches. I don't see a reason why I need to spend 3x's as much for the Race Masters now.
  23. Sounds to me like you need some practice and dry fire. I have been trying out a couple of Open guns lately and have issues finding the dot. Those who were with me that were also Open shooters told me it was the way I was presenting the gun. I was bringing it up to high and loosing the dot. You are likely doing something similar. It's apparently fairly normal when you first start shooting with a dot. Nothing a little practice can't fix.
  24. I just picked some of these up to try out. Should be here tomorrow. I wanted them specifically for the bullets out mount. Tried Racer pouches and didn't like the way they mounted. Will use the Ghost pouches at least for a while. May end up splurging on some Race Masters in the future.
  25. I'm with this guy. When I first put the extended slide lock on mine I had it lock to the rear once on my at a local match. It showed me that I was holding the gun wrong. I fixed my grip with a little dry fire prcatice and have not had an issue with it since then.
