  1. You still wanting one? I am about to list mine for sale. I have one for the Mossberg 930, but you can still get the adapters from Roth. I had issues with mine when I first got it. But emailed RCI and Mark called me and walked me through a few things. I had cleaned it and put it back together wrong. Mine has run like a sewing machine since. Only reason I am selling it is that I am going to switch to 2gun (rifle / pistol) matches now.
  2. Tons of people were using them for a long time, I still do. A lot of matches started bumping people to open if they used the forward grip or even a hand stop against a barricade to give them support. So guys started taking them off, just in case. I run one on my Open rifle, and have run one the entire time I have shot 3gun. I use it more like a hand stop than actually holding it though.
  3. Great holster, but won't work with the Carver mount. Hence why I have a brand new one for sale. I'm getting rid of the Carver mount so I can have more holster options. That's why I had the CR Speed before. I'm switching to an SJC mount and am looking at more holster choices now.
  4. My cousin is a HUGE OSU fan, the rest of the family (myself included) are OU fans. he was talking tons of smack before the game. Stopped taking my calls after the 2nd quarter. Love college football. Don't really watch pro football that much. It's just not the same, it's not as good. You don't have the cross town/state rivals like you do in college.
  5. I had a Ghost holster when I shot Limited with the gun. I didn't like it for 3gun as much.
  6. I currently have a Carver Custom mount on my Glock so I am stuck using CR Speed holsters only. I have never been a huge fan of this holster, and have decided to switch to a SJC optic mount to give me more holster options. The only other open holster I have used is the Ghost. I'd like something fast on the draw like the Ghost, but also secure enough for 3gun. Never felt 100% confident running around with the Ghost shooting 3gun. What other good options are out there?
  7. When I had a standard buffer with all the weights removed I was running full gas on my XLP gas block. Even though it was full gas, I did notice less felt recoil. I only turned the gas down when I switched to the JP Silent Captured Spring system, which allowed a lot more tweaking and tuning. You should be GTG with the standard non XLP block and no weights in the buffer. That was roughly the weight of the JP low mass buffer.
  8. removing buffer weights should fix your issue. Are you using the low mass carrier from AA as well? I removed all of the weights from my buffer and got mine running 100% no matter what ammo I fed it. I'm running the low mass carrier and XLP gas block. I'm lucky enough to know a lot of the guys from Adams Arms and shoot with them fairly regularly. They helped me out a lot. I eventually switched to the JP silent capture spring with the spring pack. I'm currently using the lightest spring and have turned the gas down 2 notches (which I think is 50%), and it still runs anything I throw at it. Just ran some M855 and M193 last weekend.
  9. Do you need a 1-whatever if you are running a red dot? I found that once I added a red dot to my rifle, I never used the scope at any power lower than 2 1/2 -3 power. I switched to a Vortex 2.5-10x32 FFP optic. I know that's out of your price range, but you can find good scopes like that for less.
  10. 12 1/2 lbs here. That's with 2 optics for Open / Unlimited Divisions. Dot doesn't even move when I shoot. Very steady on target too. Here is a fairly recent pic. I have swapped the GripPod out for a MagPul vert grip and a Harris bipod since this
  11. I have the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 on a Vortex 2" offset cantilever mount. There is plenty of room to get the eyepiece were you need it.
  12. I know I have heard a few here say they use more than one ammo in their rifles. Like 55's for 300 and in, and 69's or 77's for 300 and out. I have settled in 55gr Hornady for 300 and in, and 68gr Hornady for 300 and out. 77's didn't do well in my gun. If you use more than one ammo, whic one do you zero with? I am debating. 80% of my shots will be 300 and closer. So right now I am zeroed for that. My 68's hit 1 1/2" high, and 1/2" left from my 55gr zero. Should I zero with the 55's and know the hold? Should I zero with the 68's ad know the hold? Or should I use the 55gr zero and dial in 6 clicks up and 2 clicks left when I use the 68's? (MOA scope with 1/4MOA clicks)
  13. If you read this thread from the beginning I think you'll see that a lot of people here favor the LCT. If it's between that and the Loadmaster, for a beginner and especially loading .223 it's no contest. The Classic Turret is the best. It was tough to get a read on it. Most recommending the Lee Turret, but many saying progressive. Thanks for the reply.
  14. So which is better for the beginner? Lee Classic Turret or the Lee Loadmaster progressive? I'm looking to getting into reloading as well. Most for lower volume .223 match ammo.
  15. It's not the knobs sticking out the side that's the issue. It's the clearance up front. JP seems too low to clear the side charger mount on the rail. I had the SWFA SSALT mount before, and it's knobs stick out the same side as the charger and I never had issues with them.
  16. JP doesn't look like it would clear my side charger.
  17. I built my rifle for 3gun, but also built it more as a DMR/SPR style rifle. I previously had a Bushnell AR Optics PCL 1-4 on it which worked fine for 3gun. Now St Augustine is hosting a DMR/SPR match on a quarterly basis and I am wanting to start shooting that match. It's 5 longer range stages and 1 short bay style stage instead of the normal 3gun 5 short bay stages and 1 longer range stage. Long range stages will be going out to 600 yards. I have my load worked out. I have also picked my new optic, which will be the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP MOA. I shoot Open in 3gun, and already have an offset EOTech on the rifle, so I didn't need 1X. Now I need a new mount, since my old one won't allow me to move the scope any farther forward and still work with my Devil Dog Customs Hard Charger (side charger). Pic of hard charger: So I need an optic mount with a decent amount of cantilever. I am looking at the Warne XSkel mount, which I really like due to the color options and the fact that they support 3gun. I am also looking at the Vortex 3" cantilever mount. Any other good or better options out there? The one thing I don't want is quick release. It's going on the rifle and will never be taken off unless I get a new rifle. Won't be switching back and forth. Warne XSkel http://swfa.com/Warne-MSR-Extended-Skeletonized-30mm-Mount-P81563.aspx Vortex mount http://swfa.com/Vortex-Cantilever-30mm-Ring-Mount-P51758.aspx
  18. Have a friend trying to sell me some of this ammo. He has a couple thousand rounds of the .223 55gr HPBT steel cased ammo. He is switching over to .308 and shooting Heavy Optics so he doesn't need the .223 ammo. He used to work at a gun shop and got it cheap, and is willing to sell it to me for what he paid. Has anyone shot the stuff before? Is it any good? The price he is offering me is way below what I could get it anywhere else.
  19. I had an FN 20" CHF barrel on my 3gun rifle for a while. As I was modding the rifle I saw an article about thermal drift. So I went to the range and shot a 30 shot ground as fast as I could accurately get the shots off. POI shifted 4 inches down and 2 1/2 inches right at 100 yards. That's when I picked up an 18 inch stainless match barrel. Took it to the range and did a 5 shot group, fire 15 rounds as fast as I could off target, did another 5 shot group, fire another 15 rounds off target as fast as I could, and then did another 15 shot group. There wasn't any difference in spread or shift of POI. The range I went to has cameras at 100 so you can see your impacts. Stayed sub MOA with factory ammo.
  20. That's what happens when you sell good products. Word gets around.
  21. Glad I found this thread. I used this formula to make some test rounds with my gun last weekend, and shot them today. Used 7.0 of AutoComp with 155 gr Montana Gold JHP, and got a PF of 180 with my G22, Lone Wolf barrel, and Carver Custom 4 port comp. I have some wiggle room to go down a little, but really liked the way it shot. Very flat. Dot bounced a little but was predictable. I'm gonna make some more and shoot a couple of matches with it.
  22. I'll also add that there are likely several followers out there that will work fine in the JM Pro. As long as the have a decent beveled edge at the front they should work. The GG&G is the only 1 I tried in mine. It worked so well I never tried any other followers.
  23. I never had an issue with the factory mag spring. I even cut mine down some. My mag issue was with the follower.
  24. For the piston issues fangalang mentioned, the gun just needs to be cleaned properly. The piston is 3 parts, many people don't know that. Jerry Miculek has a great video showing you how to clean it right. He starts talking about the piston at about 7:40 in this video.
  25. There is also one advantage to the tube gun with an XRail over a mag fed gun. Stages that have mixed ammo and a lot of bird. I can run my xrail full of bird and then drop the slugs or buck in right before I need them. Meaning I don't have to be as exact on my round count. I have seen a few mag fed guys screw themselves up by missing a few bird and then the round count they preloaded for the stage is off. I just add what I need, burn the bird, shoot the buck or slug and move on. Not so much an issue for the pro's who have things figured out more, but can be more of an issue for us regular guys. Were the mag fed guns will always have an advantage though is with the really high round count stages. With the +2 on my Xrail I can get 25 rounds in the gun. Much over that and they have the loading advantage over me. My next purchase will be stick mags for the unloaded starts.
