  1. I was just looking at that PM I've been playing around with 115s and 124s using HS6 and SP2; I know the 115s should be flatter with an extra grain of powder, but they seem the same, only nastier... then again maybe it's the little three port comp I have on my CZ that can't utilize anymore gas? I guess the only way to know is to take this awesome comp out and stretch it's legs! Judging by the load data posted by 2011 guys, it seems my setup is pretty fast; they use over a grain more powder for the same PF. I guess I'm using plated vs jacketed, sorter oals, and no barrel holes, but I'm still surprised.
  2. Bob, Is it 38 super or 9mm? what kind of load are you shooting? holes in the barrel?
  3. I'm going to resurrect this thread to show off a few ideas I've got kicking around for my TS. It seems the easiest way to get the sight tracker effect is with a blank comp to hold the front sight like the "Limited" configuration of the Czechmate: CZ cut back the slide to attach the comp without using a longer barrel; I stole this idea for my Open TS, using a standard length slide with a TS length barrel: Through a few purchases, sales and trades, I ended up with a standard length .40 slide I plan to use for my "sight tracker"; here are some photoshop mock ups: In this one, I use a longer comp to extend the sight radius by about a quarter inch and the muzzle sits back inside by that much: I think this one is my favorite though, I cut about a quarter inch off the dust cover, chopped it at an 18 degree angle (the grip angle as I measure it) and also cut back the long comp at the same angle: Inspired by the Jericho:
  4. Here's a sneak preview of my large frame 9mm Open Tanfo with Dawson's Awesome comp:
  5. CZCustom.com In case eerw doesn't give it away
  6. Do you have the new style trigger? The old style can get your finger a little further forward: Old: New: As you can see the old style starts pretty far forward in DA, so if you want to move the SA forward more dramatically, it's going to take some customizing of the trigger bar, disco and/or hammer.
  7. I've never loaded 3N38, but I have read its very similar to SP2; according to load data I've seen it seems like 3N38 is a little faster than SP2 and a little slower than HS6, both powders I use for 9 Major. With 8.4 gr SP2, a plated 124 gr bullet and an OAL of 1.148" I get 179PF from my 5.1" CZ barrel. With 7.8 gr of HS6, a plated 124 gr bullet and an OAL of 1.160" I get 176PF from the same barrel. So if what I've read about 3N38 is true 8gr should be just about right (more if you load longer). You should have no problems getting 8 gr of powder in a 9x19 case as I've loaded as much as 10 gr of SP2.
  8. Welcome to the forum Mark, Where in San Diego do you shoot? Pala? Iron Sights? David at Cajun Gun Works is very knowledgeable and will certainly keep you Production legal if you ask. There are also plenty of resources for you here as well if you prefer to do the work yourself. I'm a member of the American Shooting Center and have a little experience with these pistols if you need any pointers
  9. That looks great Alma. I'm still debating what to do to my checkering, the idea recently popped into my head to drill a shallow hole with a small end mill bit (1/16"?) at each intersection in the waffle pattern. That's my favorite idea so far.
  10. That's like asking which kid is my favorite!?! They each have their appeal: All the Tanfoglio have really great checkering the Tactical Sport has the best trigger by far accuracy? They're all one holers with a good load. The Canik actually has the finest machining inside and is a fantastic value
  11. A drill press with a milling vice make the project a snap. I always drill the hole, then chuck up the tap and turn it by hand, that way the threads are always straight. Don't get cheap on bits or taps, go slow, use cutting oil (not WD40) and measure twice. I used 4mm screws just so it would be the same as Factory CZ threads.
  12. It occurred to me last night there are no basket cases in my safe at the moment There are some loose barrels/slides rolling around in there, but at least every frame is a fully functional pistol!
  13. I'm right handed and I run a racker on the left side, lots of shooters run a racker on the right and just roll the pistol over and rack it with their left hand.
  14. I guess some guy with a huge collection of CZ and clones could gather that kind of information...
  15. Small frame pistols (like the CZ75 platform pistols) are designed around the 9x19 round and can also be adapted to shoot .40, .357 SIG, .41 AE, .22LR, etc. (basically any cartrage with an OAL less than ~1.18". Large frame pistols (like the 1911/2011s) are designed around the .45 ACP round and can be adapted to shoot both large frame calibers (10mm, .38 super, etc) aswell as the small frame calibers listed above. The TS is unique in the fact that it cannot be adapted to shoot large frame calibers, but it was designed with a wide body mag specifically to compete with 2011s in USPSA Limited. Wide bodied small frame is a term I made up because I was sick of hearing the TS shared a frame with the CZ97B (CZs .45 ACP version of the 75B). I hope this helps.
  16. This was the reasoning behind the TS, it's a small frame like the 75s, but they made it wider to get higher capacity in .40. A regular small frame won't get more than 14-15 rounds of .40 in a 140mm mag. The TS was made to compete with the 2011s so with the CZC spring/follower/base pads you get 21 rounds of .40.
